This is one of those games that you come back to and appreciate. It can be grindy and glitchy but the moment to moment is so satisfying. It’s so fun to take down enemy outposts and help the townsfolk and discover mysteries and treasures and tombs. Honestly this might be the best assassins creed game ever made.

One thing about AC 1's Damascus and AC Origins' Egypt, since both are set in desert kingdoms, you can actually feel the heat of the sun burning through the desert even though behind the screen, none of the game can achieve that realistic feeling so far whenever they use desert as the background setting. Only Ubisoft pulled it off, it makes you feel like a citizen living that place and in that era.

Valhalla for me, while the main character isn’t an assassin, feels a lot like an AC game to me tbh. The only one out of the 3 new formula games that hasn’t felt like AC was Odyssey. I agreed with alot of people that, besides the grindiness of Odyssey, would have been better if it was branded as a story set in the AC universe. Because it did cover a lot of ISU lore from what I played. Valhalla on the other hand really gives me more of Black Flag vibes, where the main character wasn’t an assassin in the game but worked with them throughout the story. And it also set up the formal creation of the Templars (that’s what they were hinting at with King Alfred using the alias ‘Poor Fellow Soldier of Christ”). Which that might lead into more of a formal formation of the Masyaf brotherhood who rebranded the Hidden Ones as The Assassin Order. Eivor also was similar to the characters of Altair, Desmond, Ezio, etc. as they were all characters descended from ISU blood.

I always remember Hepzefa's sword from origins and not many a weapon after that felt as unique, I think it's because it looked like a plain old sword yet set afire, it felt more magical for that then fancy/shiny helix weapons, it felt like it fit in more and stuck with me throughout origins as a weapon of choice, it felt like it complimented Bayek's anger, only in weapon form 👌🏼

Funny ya know - a lot of people are in the same boat as you and me I too bought the game at launch, gave it a go, found the series new direction too 'jarring' and 'unfamiliar', reached Alexandria and then put the game down for years. Gave it another chance recently and oooooooooooooooooh boy did I make the right choice cos damn - this is easily one of the best AC games of the series I hear a lot of people say that they picked it up and then never played it beyond the first couple hours. My only advice to people is do what me and you did and the give the game a proprer chance - you won't regret it

Having watched the Vikings series, I feel Assassin's Creed Valhalla also deserves the same love with it's combat, Environmental settings, facial features and customisation. Not the typical Assassins creed game but come on, a great game as a standalone with all the dlcs and Asgard, Jotunheim etc... Loved the feel and definitely the type of game to comeback to and appreciate.

I was impressed how I played that game on Xbox and it looked that good while basically having extremely rare and short loading screens after the initial one. The whole world was just so seamless, traveling between cities, flying, going into tombs. Odyssey wasn't like that and there was a lot of loading screens.

Sup Hollow, Would have to say my favourite AC title is different depending on what aspect of the game i base it on. 1) Overall gameplay - AC4 Black Flag - I love the whole pirate fantasy and how they envisioned it for us (never mind that Edward was never a member of the assassins order during the game - he joined later according to lore shown in syndicate) 2) Story and parkour - AC Unity - While never really interested in the french revolution i found the story compelling and the ability to free run down and the visuals that went with it were amazing. 3) Character arc - OG AC1 - The story arc of Altair was brilliant. The pure arrogance at the start, a sudden drop in status causing the character to take another look at himself, the rebuilding into confidence and wisdom. I know this is the same arc concept for Ezio however it was not as compelling for me since for me it seemed that Altair earnt the arrogance through being the best at what he did (basically he was extremely talented at the assassin arts and that fuelled his overconfidence/arrogance) whereas Ezio's arrogance stemmed from just being a spoiled brat. 4) Modern Day - AC2 series - I liked actually getting out and doing real world missions rather than walking around modern day being reduced to basic jump puzzles and reading emails for lore that it was in the AC1, AC3 and the newer titles (with the exception of meeting Kassandra in modern day and that short story arc) My least liked were the newer titles in general with the focus moving to open combat over stealth (though i do prefer the new combat style. I would of preferred the stealth focus remain with the new combat there for when we are caught out). But more specifically with the gender selection in Odyssey and Valhalla, I dont mind playing a female assassin (Evaline and Evie i'm looking at you here) but to give an option where only one is used in later lore turned me off. I preferred the way they handled gender in Sydicate, simply have both, do missions with each, choose whichever you want when not on mission, keep both in future lore as the assassin of the title. It is like if you chose to play as Alexios in Odyssey (which would of seemed to be the future lore player character with the statue in the limited edition being the male) the game slaps you at the end with a 'haha dumbass' moment when it seems the game went with Kass. If you wanted us to play as Kassandra just make her the only option and move ahead please. I get Ubisoft was working on the 'more options = more satisfaction' theory but guys....sometimes less is more.

I'm currently playing through the game again, it's one of my favorite games of all time, PLEASE go to every location, do every quest, collect everything, get the DLC and complete the entirety of Egypt before moving to the hidden ones, then fully beat the hidden ones before curse of pharaohs, get your level maxed out with egypt, milk the game, enjoy it please, it's a masterpeice.

Highly recommend crafting, crafting, crafting, and then more crafting. Crafting boosts you combat/assassination stats as well as health. XP gets you abilities and helps you level up. Strongly recommend by at or above the levels for most missions. Especially because most special enemies will be higher ranked and harder to assassinate or kill. But tbh the side quests kind of tie into the main story some. Also I wouldn’t start with legendary weapons only because you also need coins to upgrade your weapons to your level and it will cost more compared to other weapon rarities. Hope this helps Hollow! Can’t wait to go on this journey along with you, even though I also recently played this game for the first time! And one last thing....I hope you like snakes :) Also I believe there is a parrying mechanic but it requires a lot more timing imo compared to other AC games. Found it best to be patient and dodge attacks, especially against elite enemies with unbreakable shields.

While I absolutely LOVE Odyssey it doesn't feel like an AC game. I'm an OP demigod... Origins felt like the last true AC game where I feel like I'm an actual assassin. The map is amazing. It's so vibrant and colourful and although I've never been that into history, it makes me want to learn more. Such a great game. Might re-play it for the 50th time.

I love playing Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla than other AC games. My favorite ones are odyssey and Ezio’s story. Valhalla is the best.

You don't even have the hidden blade you get the Spear of Leonidas. To get the hidden blade you'd have to pay for an expansion. What kinda braindead thing is that. At least in Valhalla you get the hidden blade in the prologue. Odyssey is fun but not good.

@@Kaz38572 Who even uses the hidden blade? We use the weapons enemies drop. So, pay or not what are you broke? I got the game and its expansions for $25

Just picked this up myself, excited to get into it. Used to play the old style games but got so bored with them and stopped playing at 3. Tried Odyssey when that came out and was absolutely blown away, probably the best game I've ever played. Made me pre-order valhalla and although that was no where near as good, I played the shit out of it too. Now while I wait for the next valhalla dlc I figured I'd go back to what massively improved the franchise, hyped already.
