Holly, I've been following your art journey for many years now and when your Holly in the Hebrides series started it quickly became the top series I look forward to each time. Your art is mesmerising, your adventures and your thoughts always make me stop and think and as an added bonus, the fact that you are in Scotland, where I used to live (and plan to retire in the future) makes your series very close to my heart. Don't be disheartened by the 'low' number of views, people will come and they will go back to rewatch your entire series. I am currently watching this episode from Australia and I am wishing you more sunny days this summer, so that we can see more of your painting processes in beautiful Scottish locations.

I appreciate how the aerial views give us a greater sense of your surroundings. That combined with up close and personal van interiors, cooking, artwork, family (yes, curly hair rules, Craig!), and historic places and information (love Beatrix Potter) make your videos so enjoyable, relaxing, and inspiring. The pacing is great and I've been enjoying this series!

I really enjoyed today’s episode. The scenery there is simply stunning. The visit to Ulva looked amazing. I love that there are no cars there. I bet it smells so fresh! And as always your food looks delicious. I definitely think you should paint more food - your cookbook artwork should be dusted off and reshared. I know I say it a lot but food has multiple audiences. You cook amazing food and you paint amazing food too. So art and food is my winner ❤

The walrus in your sketchbook made me smile! I have a small painting you made of a walrus, and it reminds me of that little guy that I treasure so much. Don't you just love how people's priorities with using AI is to take away creative-oriented jobs that people in the workforce have very specialized skillsets for, making those people irrelevant? Wouldn't you think there's more important uses for technology like that? It literally haunts me everyday now. I'm an artist on the side, and a graphic designer full time, and both of these skillsets will probably become non-existent in my life if AI continues to grow the way it is now.
@hollyexley3 ай бұрын
Haha I'm glad it made you smile - it did for me too, it's so derpy. I feel your pain with AI, we've certainly got some big changes coming and it's moving so fast and with so much greed as a motivator. You're so right, theres such important uses for AI, so many problems that it could be used to fix, and in medicine too, it will probably help so much. It's just a shame its taking down artists, musicians, writers, and designers along the way. :( I am still convinced there's some positivity we can cling to though! I will talk more about that soon.

I love, love your videos!! So real, down to earth with lots of adventures, nature and inspiration. Thank you for showing us so many beautiful places. And I’m with you on the AI, it is a little scary how it is taking creative jobs, but I personally think, it would never replace humans and their creativity. One of my favorite things about KZbin is seeing how artists like you get their inspiration and their creative process. Your authenticity can’t be replaced. Thanks again for sharing with us…. Just a side quick question what kind of watercolors and sketchbook you use. You probably have mentioned it before, I just haven’t found it…. 😅

Thanks so much for sharing your life and adventures with us all. I only found you a week or so ago, thanks to another watercolour artist mentioning you (Harriet De Winton) on her KZbin channel. You have been a breath of fresh air. I visited Mull in 2005 when my husband and I were on our honeymoon and would love to go back and take our children. The first visit was a unique experience, thanks to the people we stayed with 😂 Keep going! Jo x

I also started looking at your channel because of your art. I love seeing you painting. But I also like your vlogs and today’s vlog was a really good one with art, nature and ordinary life. So for me vlogs combined with art and some speedpainting is a tip from me.
@hollyexley3 ай бұрын
I would like to do more speed painting, but the footage is never that great. It's hard in a van to film overhead. I don't have space to have tripods and lights. I can film with the door open for better lighting, but it has been raining so much here. So unfortunately, I dont see a solution to this. I hope sharing my art is enough.

@@hollyexley Since most people use the phone nowadays I believe the light you have is good enough. Atleast the walruss in this episode was light enough. But you're the one doing it so you know the best.

I totally get the numbers and needing to keep up with stuff; something to possibly consider is that folk may use this series as like a nostalgia one too. Something to pop on in a year or so and look back on, I know I likely will. Loved the landscape one this one, and it's really nice to see the dogs are doing well. Will you be doing a little zine or print run of some of your sketchbook stuff on here? Or is your sketchbook more of a space for you? (totally valid!)

Check it out. Augsburger puppenkiste Seeelefant. You will love this walrus too. Though already a bit tattered being in so many shows over decades! I watch your videos from Germany. That is tough, this Ai thing taking jobs off artists that take year’s honing their art is really disgusting. The creative field is already such a challenging field to work in with before having to compete with Ai. Your sketchbook art is beautiful.

I doubt that the series isn't taking off because it isn't engaging enough or whatever. I'm sure the fault lies entirely with the algorithm not showing your videos to all your subscribers. I find that youtube shows me the channels that I watched most recently. Often I won't have the time to watch a video all the way through so I'll wait to watch it another day. Then I find that because I didn't click on it instantly, the first time it appeared in my feed, that I really have to go searching for it. It's all such bullshit. Often I'll scroll through my list of subs and find that I have missed videos from lots of channels I love and I'll catch up with them that way. Honestly, the internet is such garbage these days. Remember when IG would show you everything from everyone you subscribed too? It really feels like the entire world is on a race to the bottom of a very deep ravine. On a positive note, I'm loving this series. Those waterfalls were so delightful. My husband's comments was "looks like Tassie!" I can see why the Scots heavily settled in Tasmania. Don't lose heart, Holly, AI will never replace you.
@hollyexley3 ай бұрын
I agree with your woes with KZbin algorithm - that happens with people I follow too! If I see a video from a small creator in my feed, I instantly put it in my 'watch later' playlist, other wise it'll disappear so quickly from my feed! Whereas crappy big channels that I'm not interested in, get pushed on my feed all the time. The internet is bad these days, I struggle to get the experience I want from it, even using search engines, the results are so inaccurate and random!
