I‘m currently studying for some exams and have found myself lacking all motivation. So I decided that for each hour that I study, I will donate 50 cents (0.5€) to some organisation that helps with the bushfires. So now I am studying for a cause and it really helps (everybody)! :)

Australia is still an amazing place and after flying all that way you would want to make the most of the experience, so you can understand why she may complain about being homesick. I'd feel a bit frustrated if the same happened to me.

As an Aussie, I would recommend donating through the Bendigo Bank Bushfire Disaster Appeal, being run in conjunction with the Salvation Army. 100% of funds are going directly to communities in need, unlike some of the other fundraisers (e.g. some organisations take a cut for admin fees, etc.). Celeste Barber’s fundraiser, while absolutely fantastic and done with nothing but wonderful intentions, is now facing difficulties because it was established for the NSW RFS. Technically the money is only allowed to be used for that and not for any other state’s fire service or, more importantly, any of the communities, people and animals impacted. Further, the RFS is meant to be mainly state government funded and has a cap on the amount of fundraising they can do each year (because the government is then meant to match it) so the money could be tied up in a trust account for years. Hopefully they will be able to sort something out, but it will take a bit of time and legal work.

I feel like this happens to a lot of people, it takes a bit to get used to a totally different (lack of) routine and for me personally getting out of my comfort zone by socialising with others (way more than I'd ever done). It also always gets better for me after a couple weeks. Now I just take that as part of my travels, I know I'll feel like that for a bit but I also know it'll get better and I'll feel more relaxed after a while. Anyway, enjoy your travels, and don't worry about feeling slightly homesick at times, coz travelling is soo worth it! xx

Learning about YOURSELF and getting to know YOURSELF better as well as growing mentally. So stay true to yourself, I love seeing you making progress over time. christine ah wow studying that’s so impressive and super cool!!!! was it biology I assume? like ecology?
@xoCHRISTINEox14 жыл бұрын
Holly Gabrielle yes! It was for a short study abroad I did for biology credit. It was through an American company called the School for Field studies. They have field stations all over the world and there’s one up in yungaburra. The course I did was called techniques in rainforest research and it was kind of interdisciplinary. We got to talk to the local community about climate change issues as well as study plants and animals. The main project we did was surveying the bird populations in several forest sites that were at different stages of succession. In that area a lot of people are trying to restore native rainforest species of trees after they had been replaced by settlers with trees found in other areas of Australia like Eucalyptus. I hope you got to see tree kangaroos while you were there because they are absolutely adorable!

I never reply but I just wanted to say I don't think you ruined your first month in Australia by being homesick, because traveling is not only about sightseeing and making friends but it's also an opportunity to learn so much about yourself! It may sound cheesy but now you know you can overcome your homesickness and be happy on the other side of the world by yourself.. I think that's so brave and valuable! Best of luck with the rest of your travels :)

Because I'm going backpacking later this year for the first time and my friend got hers stolen in Australia so I'm very scared that I'll loose mine as well! @HollyGabrielle4 жыл бұрын
malvika pant hmmm no ... my channel literally documents (and very accurately too) my thoughts and experiences. Also at the moment, I’m vlogging pretty much every day of my travels. so naturally, it’s capturing the highs and lows. for me, homesickness is a big thing and for others it will be the same. therefore why would I pretend to make out that everything is ok when it’s not, just because social media sometimes only wants us to show the highlights of life? ... that wouldn’t be truthful at all!
