Why would they allow the mic fuzzy/screen to be so big?!... They couldn't think of a way to have the fuzzy-screen be smaller and only cover the mic screen?

Great overview! It's important to note that there are two levels of noise canceling that are controlled from the phone app - I find the lower level to be just perfect for most outdoor situations.

Hey Teoh, I appreciate your review. You were very thorough. Just a little friendly advice from an Audio Engineer if you put a few diffusion panels and a few absorption panels in your room it would help your videos out. The room you did your unboxing in is very reflective.

Great video! How would you say it compares to the other mics in its category, the DJI and the Wireless Go II? To my ears it sounds as good if not better.

I have not used the DJI and Rode wireless mics before so I can't say how the Hollyland compares with those two. Having said that, based on the several wireless mics I've reviewed in 2023, with prices from USD 100-300, the audio quality seems quite high, with the main difference between the mics being other features that do not relate to audio quality, e.g. things included, 3.5mm jack, display, internal storage, noise canceling. The audio quality of wireless mics nowadays seems to have matured. Today, you can get great audio quality even from affordable mics. The Saramonic Blink 500 mic I bought years ago probably cost 4x the Hollyland Lark M2 and is still not a good mic.

Thanks for the review, would have been nice to see the usb c adapter test with an android phone. I actually prefer the noise cancellation outside as the noise cancellation is done really good and the voice doesn't get compressed while the background does. The usb c version seems great for me.

Nice, detailed review. One question - you mention @7:20 that the USB-C port can record to USB-C devices (like mobile phones I guess) and PCs. Why do you think then would one need a separate USB-C or lightning receiver?

You can use both to record to computer. You can use that camera receiver connected to USB-C cable connected to computer, or you can use the USB-C receiver connected to computer. There will be slight quality difference. I usually find USB-C receivers for phones to record at lower volume to computers. One advantage of using cable connection is the cable is unlikely to block access to other ports beside.

@@teohontech7141 Yes agree on the advantage part with cable on PC. I want to use this mainly for vlog shoots using my iphone (USBC) and Sony recorder, and I feel that the USBC receiver will be redundant even in case I record directly to my phone. All I have to do is attach the camera receiver to the phone with a short cable. As such, just the camera receiver bundle is enough, we dont need the combo - is what I'm thinking.

@@AgnosticAcqua The only difference is cable vs no cable. Having no cable is quite convenient since that receiver is attached directly to the phone's port. Of course it comes down to whether the convenience is worth the extra cost.

It's really good for both indoors and outdoors. I've switched to using this as my main outdoor mic because it's so small. I put the mic inside my shirt so that i won't have to use the furry windshield. But I found out that sometimes the mic may point towards my skin due to how the clothes fold, and audio recording will be affected. I think that's where having the mic on the "necklance" will help. Lark M2 is definitely an upgrade over M1 in many areas. The Fulaim X5 is also a very good mic, it's just that the mic and receivers are bigger that's all. Selling point is it has 3.5mm port for lavalier. I use this for months to record my KZbin review videos and it sounds good.

This is best for outdoors due to the size, but it can be used indoors as well. Audio quality is very good. This has been my main mic since I've reviewed it. Still using it today.

Which sounds better Lark Max or M2?

@@richmondsiao I find this to sound slightly better than Lark Max, but it's only a difference that's noticeable when you have two mics side by side to compare. This Lark M2 has been my main mic for outdoor use for months. Lark Max has way more features though. So just choose based on the features you need and don't need.

Only Apple Pencil works with iPads. And you have to get the correct Apple Pencil model.

Hollyland Lark Max has more features, eg internal recording, 3.5mm jack on transmitter, receiver has display, even longer battery life. But if you don't need those features, the Lark M2 is good. I'm now using the Lark M2 as my main mic when recording outdoors because it's so compact and the transmitter design is so discreet.

Yes, it's prone to accidental turning so it's good to check the dial position occasionally.

Only thing they missed out on this almost perfect recording device is the ability for onboard recording. It's a safety feature that's a must have!

Depends on how thick the case is, OR whether the cutout around the port is big enough. If the case prevents the receiver from being fully inserted, then of course it won't work.
