Have just come off a job where one of the teams had these. No issues with 8 channels of sennheiser wireless mics, regular 2.4 & 5Ghz wifi or the Teradek Bolts that camera were running.

That latency probably makes this a no-go for show calling. But this looks absolutely killer for low budget location shoots, especially compared to the other simple battery operated systems like the Eartec.

I want a system not only for the team, but also to transfer the director’s voice or calls to the broadcaster in the studio. Is this suitable? If not, what is the system that allows me to transfer an external call or call to the announcer?

I finally picked one of these up at the end of 2021. I'm finally getting to use it for a live production this month. Granted, the latency means that we can't using it for calling the show, but at least being able to talk to each other without resorting to cell phones means a lot. I will say that my biggest complaint aside from the latency are the headsets. I have a large head and the clamping force gets painful after a couple of hours. I did notice that my headsets are of a different style than yours. I'm guessing they upgraded in the year since you released this video. The new headsets are reversible while yours appear to be for left-ear use only. My only other complaint is getting non-tech-savvy people to mute themselves (either with the button on the beltpack or by moving the mic to the mute position) when they're not talking to the people on the intercom. Thanks for making this recommendation. It's working out well for me. Have you ever talked about the various brands of NPF batteries? The true Sonys are pretty expensive.

Hey Matthew, sorry I didn't see this sooner! That's awesome that you picked up a set. Reversible headsets would be HUGE, that's cool they've gone that direction, but unfortunate they're squeezing your head so much! I haven't done anything talking about NPF batteries. Unless you need the Sony ones specifically for a piece of Sony gear, I'd grab something from Neewer or Wasabi etc. For this type of deal they work fine & you'll be able to buy enough to have backups charging while the other set are in use.

Seems pretty decent! Better than a facebook video chat for school theatre gigs... Weird how the quality drops so much when using the base station, as the wireless packs are passing signal though the base station anyways I expect.

I was pretty surprised too at how different it sounded from one to the other. Once I make up a break out cable, I'll be interested to see how the line level output on the base sounds in comparison. Gotta see if they change at all over distance or with poor reception. All fun stuff though for the price, I've used some pretty janky sounding wired intercom in the past that wasn't any cheaper.

Very nice, I wonder if the audio is encrypted as some clients would prefer that and if 2 base units running together would cause interference between them

I have a question. On one of my belpacks under the information menu, the RSSI is at 0 and it's not linking to its base station. Where the other 3 belpacks are at 59. Why have I lost link and how to repair? Thanks in advance.

You mentioned the breakout cables. Curious to see how well those interface with 3rd party gear.

You didn't cover the Telly system. Would love to see how it connects to a Blackmagic ATEM Television Studio Pro 4K unit.

It connects to normal Tally lights using a 3.5mm connection. For BMD products you'll need to buy their GPI Tally converter box. You should look for videos or info on that, as it is a unique process compared to normal Tally lights and wouldn't be the type of thing I'd go to the trouble of pulling together just to demo a light turning on for a product like this.

It would be interesting to see how good the quality of the included headset microphone is. How much of the quality is lost in transmission vs the actually picking up of the sound if that makes any sense.

That’s a great idea, I was planning to order a few other cheap headsets to see how they do with the system. I’ll try to come up with a way to test them each on their own without the intercom system. Thanks Gabriel!

Hello I want to ask if there is any chance to connect this wireless system with my Datavideo DTC 100 Intercom (5Pin) System. At our Livestream I have to communicate with 2 wireless Camera all others are running wired. Can you answer this question?

That's more of a question about your Datavideo system than this system. I'm not familiar with the pin-out for the 5-pin XLR they are using, but maybe you have it already? If it conforms to a typical two or four wire scheme and not something they brewed up themselves, then you could use the hollyland 2 & 4 wire converter - www.hollyland-tech.com/products/detail-45.html

@@DcSoundOp I think as well that the converter is needed and the 3 pin has to be adapted customsized - I am using the ITC 100 from Datavideo as well I not understand why the haven't an own solution to extend the system wireless...

Just wondering if you can take two of these systems, connect them using ethernet over internet, therefore having one system in a control room and another system on site and if the two systems could talk to each other and everyone in the studio could hear everyone on site and vice versa...??

There is no direct way to just hook them up to the internet and just have them work, but you could do something like what is shown in Jim Keaney's video about the T-1000 and using it remotely over a video chat or voip service.
