I can't even tell you everything I hate about it because I'll be here for weeks! "They handle everything they do with tact, respect and research" Is that ment to be a joke?!!!!! One of the millions of examples I could give is Lilly's self harm storyline. It was shit and it's not just me who thinks so! Seriously find the clip of the self harm storyline and look at the comments!!! It actually made me so upset and sad because they made self harm look like something only girls do and something they grow out of! This is wrong on so many levels! All they managed to do was reinforce the negative stereotypes about self harm and turn it into some sort of cult that girls will grow out of!!!!

This is why I love this soap, they raise awareness on so many topics and illnesses that other soaps don’t. They’re not afraid to try something any other soap hasn’t, they use their platform for a good reason!
@Butterfly-op8vf6 жыл бұрын
Georgiaxmaex is that a joke? Hollyoaks are unrealistic and the acting is awful! What exactly have hollyoaks down that other soaps haven't. Emmerdale has doen a transgender storyline, have hollyoaks? I don't think so! Even the storylines they have done is crap. For example the self harm storyline was pathetic! They made self harm out to be some sort of group activity. In the real world no one I know would ever get there fronds to self harm. It's just a complete lie. I have self harmed for years now and I haven't told anyone so I know what I'm talking about. When you look at emmerdales self harm storyline with aaron, you can clearly see the difference!
@georgiaxmaex6 жыл бұрын
Lisa-Marie Hunt they actually have done a transgender storyline before with blessing chambers and it was done very well. if you don’t like the show don’t watch it because you clearly don’t have a valid reason as to why it isn’t a good show, carry on watching emmerdale and leave hollyoaks fans to carry on supporting the show cos if doesn’t affect you then what’s the point in disagreeing? I do send you love though with your personal problems and hope you get the help you need♥️
@Butterfly-op8vf6 жыл бұрын
Rexy Rapper are you on drugs? Just because hollyoaks have done a lot of storylines doesn't mean they did it well. They are very stereotypical as well. Look at the self harm storyline, they make self harm into a joke, they literally had three girls self harming together! I couldn't believe it! That is not realistic. Compare hollyoaks to all the other soaps and the difference is clear. Your clearly either to young to know what your talking about or your on drugs.
@Butterfly-op8vf6 жыл бұрын
Georgiaxmaex don't be pathetic! There are plenty of reasons why hollyoaks but if I tell you everything il be here all day. Here's just a few reasons; they don't have a single half decent actor, there storylines are done so badly that instead of raising awareness for serious issues they reinforce negative stereotypes and it's done so badly it's actually funny. If you think disagree then you are clearly lying. You don't even need to take my word for it, I don't think hollyoaks have won a single best serial drama at the NTAs ever and if you watch a lot of TV then you would have seen comedians makeing fun of how bad hollyoaks is. Hollyoaks is not a true soap and it takes the piss out of serious issues. If you want some advice then watch emmerdale self harm storyline, the difference is clear!

MetalRocksMe \m/ that's exactly your problem! Soaps should be taken seriously especially when they are dealing with difficult storylines because it's not just a soap people are really dealing with these issues so the soap has a responsibility to do the storyline justice! I have self harmed for just over 3 years now and I am also dealing with depression and suicidal thoughts. Emmerdale gives me something to look forward to and when I watched Aaron's self harm storyline it encouraged me to get help! This is personally great timing. In college we had to write essays about an emerging technology in the games industry. We each chose what to write about and i wrote about technology developed to help disabled people play games. I've got to say I was very invested once i got into it and i heard so many amazing stories online and people i spoke to in person. It's been a pleasure to talk about and I'm delivering a presentation on the topic this week
@tartertime896 жыл бұрын
SnipingHunt01 Any chance I could have a look at your essay? As a blind person who has been active within the interactive narrative space, plays PS4 games etc I'm interested.
@SkaterBlades6 жыл бұрын
@@tartertime89 I'm unsure if I'm able to get a copy as my college uses googles drive and classroom apps to submit work. Once something is submitted it can't be edited so i may not be able to copy and paste it here. If you're interested i can talk about a few key points here. Sadly i did not talk about PlayStation as i am not too familiar with their systems as i play games on xbox and pc. I explained how the industry is adapting to increase accessibility such as new hardware being released like the TrackIR on pc and the xbox adaptive controller. A few other examples were subtitles becoming an industry standard in pretty much every game for the hearing impaired and new verbal GPS systems being developed for games such as GTA that require navigation. Sadly i was unable to find much on those systems. I did also look into the community's response to nee technology being developed to increased accessibility and the main sources i went to were the charities AbleGamers and SpecialEffect. Thet show that the community nearly entirely supports this technology being developed. In fact steve spohn at ablegamers told me the only issues people have raised is the idea that it may make games easier which is untrue in most cases. I also proposed more technologies that could become industry standard such as audio descriptions similar to what TV has. I also mentioned how the development of new technologies and new methods of interactivity could potentially lead to the development of new games. I'm sorry to say that i could not talk about many specific conditions in great detail as was small essay of 2500 with a maximum of 2750 and i hit that limit. My headings were: What the technology is. What can it be used for. What it has the potential to be used for. How can it benefit gaming? The general opinion on the technology. How it may be ground breaking to the industry market. Just ask me if you want me to go into any more detail

The show has disabled characters, characters who are LGBTQ 🏳️🌈, black characters, white characters and a Muslim 🕌 family called the Malik's, but there isn't a lot of East Asian representation on the show except for one Chinese 🇨🇳 British 🇬🇧student character on Hollyoaks. Her name was Charlotte Lau and she was played by a Japanese 🇯🇵British 🇬🇧called Amy Yamazaki. The character of Charlotte was a lesbian 🏳️🌈who was a student at the college and was friends with Josh Ashworth and Dave Colburn and was the ex girlfriend of another lesbian 🏳️🌈 character named Lydia Hart. She wasn't in the programme for long though as she appeared from 2009 to 2010.
