DIY DOG RAMP FOR DACHSHUNDS - UNDER $50!!

I get asked all the time about how I made the DIY dog ramp for my bed. This ramp isn't the exact same as it's meant for a couch instead of a ramp, but it works just as well! Today's video I show you how to make the ramp for your dachshund, or any other dog that suffers from back problems. This is a great preventative for IVDD.

I made a little springboards for my pup to use getting off the couch, bed, etc. It's a 5-inch thick, 24" x 24" chair cushion with a piece of plywood on top, covered with a throw rug or a towel. Total cost

My 19 year old Chihuahua herniated a disc two years ago and lost the use of all of his legs. He fought back and, although clumsier, he is prancing and dancing again. My Chihuahua/doxie mix had a bulging disc and needed spinal surgery. The cost of a ramp verses the cost of spinal surgery.... Ugh. Poor baby, I just adopted him not knowing about these back problems. When you don't special order a breed, you don't always know what challenges will come. I am now all about the ramps!! Prevention is key!

Wow girl, thank you so much for this. I have a 13yr old husky mix who is struggling with walking inside the doggie door. The current ramp is from chewy and it's great, bit unfortunately her back legs slide off and sometimes she ends up falling off, which shatters my heart. I have a chihuahua mixed with aMother dog breed which we don’t know and he is 7 years old. Two weeks ago my baby was fine in the morning and when I came back from work he was crying and shaking and couldn’t even walk fast. The next day my parents took him to the hospital and was diagnosed with IVDD. Now I’m doing everything I can so he won’t jump on anything and I’ve had him on “lockdown” 😂 and I haven’t let him go to any room. But I can’t keep him like this so I will try to build this ramp, THANK YOU DO VERY MUCH

Very sadly, Doxy's aren't the only little dog to suffer from IVDD. Both my Lhasa and my Shorkie got increasingly worse. 😭 Thanks for doing this! I'm not a carpenter (my grandfather, 2 uncles and my former step dad were carpenters, so I feel like I should telepathically know how to build this! 😂) so knowing I can go to Home Depot with my measurements is a big help.

Putting screws or nails through the top of the board is ultimately weaker. That's where joints or pocket screws come in.

You can try leading her down the ramp with a treat to get her used to it.
