Living with a miniature dachshund puppy means always having a buddy. Although Mac has many puppy traits typical of most dog breeds, some of his quirks seem to be distinctly dachshund characteristics :) Mac is a miniature sausage dog (doxie, teckel, dackel) who lives in Montreal. Wow,I had a dachshund beagle mix that lived to be 17 years old. I was working night shift when she died and I called in sick that night because I was so upset. I loved her like a child,I was devastated and swore I would never get another pet but a few years later I did and my new one has the exact same personality as my other,it’s almost freaky.

In September 2006 I got a rescue mini Doxi female. She was about a year old then so I call January 1 her birthday each year. She is sleeping beside me right now, January coming she starts her 18th year. I have to help her up and down the front stairs to the yard and sometimes she doesn't make it outside but a little cleaning up is the least I can do for a friend of that many years.

I lived with my best friend for a year and half and his mini decided I was his favorite human. He followed me EVERYWHERE in the house regardless of whatever I was doing and sat in my lap every time I chose a seat and I took him for car rides all the time. I miss him.

My last mini dachshund out of three passed away a few days after Easter this year. I never got to see her again after moving out (long story short: I had enough of toxicity) and I didn’t get to say that final goodbye. She was 15 years old. Had been with me throughout high school and college. I had a big cathartic cry a few days ago, and as sad as it is that she’s gone, I will be forever grateful that she was in my life at all and for that long. She passed on peacefully and wasn’t alone at the end. I already mourned her by missing her for over a year, but knowing that she was loved, healthy and happy despite the craziness is reassuring. I have saved many photos and videos of her, so her memory will never be forgotten. Wherever her spirit went (I’m agnostic but like to hope an afterlife like Heaven exists), I think she is her younger self again reunited with her sister who we also had but ran away and our first dachshund. I love you, Dorey, Riley, and Maggie. Always have, always will. Rest well, sweet girls. I hope you are eating all the hotdogs you want. Mac is going to have a long, happy life full of love and fun. Dogs are a blessing and they are family. Cherish the time you have with your pets, because they are not with us for all our lives but we are their whole life.

I live with two Dashchunds. No longer puppies one is 4 years old is red all over, the other is a tiny mini he is Black and Tan and 5 years old . The red weighs about 12 lbs and the Black and Tan weighs about 6 pounds. They do everything you saw on this video if you want a constant companion a Doxie is definitely for you. They are wonderful pets. If you like a lot of loving and kisses you want a Doxie.

CUTE CUTE CUTE ! I rescued an older wire/long haired doxie and she was a mess ! Before long she owned me and my other dog. She was house trained and would come get me to go out. I misunderstood her demands (lol) sometimes cause she was after a treat sometimes and Not to go out. lol. SO smart and very sweet. I miss her all the time.
