My only hope so far is that the audience will be the ones to spark change. My media teacher from my highschool was the one that taught me how important "AGENCY and CONTROL" is in the industry. The most significant example being when the Sonic movie first came out - the whole movie was pulled and re-edited because of the response to how he was animated. So if you think about it, Hollywood could easily get a big enough kick in the pants if the audience pushes hard enough. Cause tbh, with the way movies are going, any of us could write a better script than the sort of writers they pay to do the job.

His approach is the worst possible, he's surrounded by people who do not care for his son but only about themselves and to 'gain' another one of them 'cause misery likes company.... it's like when people with H1V knowingly transmit it to other people 'cause they're scared to be sick and alone. From Poland: I would even pay 100 PLN per month directly to a Korean company that would be created on the model of Netflix (you are able to make subtitles in different languages), just so I could watch their series with actors and animated ones. I don't understand, I can't comprehend it, I can't stand it why the Koreans cooperate with Netflix at all. They would easily create better competition on an international scale. Their series are amazing, their actors are wonderful, the special effects are satisfactory, the stories are fascinating... They have so much to show, to offer, Netflix is simply using them. South Korea should believe in its skills and open up to customers from abroad. I hate Netflix... and I absolutely miss "their" Korean series.

Last night, watched the tng episode final mission with my wife, the one where Picard is dying and almost killed. She remarked how tense it feels, and how invested in the character's conflicts and acting she was, and even though she's absolutely aware Picard is wearing head to toe plot armour, the dire situation in the episode, the level of the writing and acting on display caused her to literally forget he was due to be back next time. When I look back at great tv series of the passed, from classic Doctor who to startrek or buffy, there are so many instances like that, where the very limitations of the medium caused people to bring their A game. Unfortunately, the converse is true, take away time constraints, take away the need to write or act well, or work out how to tell great stories without a massive production budget, take away the need to bother worrying about what the audience think, and you literally have nothing pushing you to do better. Hollywood can pretend to be on the right side of history as much as they like, but they've forgotten that they're also on the wrong side of quality!

If they fail at that it is not our fault it is their fault because we are under no obligation to buy their products. I wish they would remember that. The audience is what matters not the modern audience that doesn't exist. Which has been proven over and over and over again not to exist by their movies and TV shows made for it failing! @PakoVero The last time I went to a cinema was a thing organised by the company I was then working for in 2010, before that it was a cheap Tuesday afternoon ticket to watch Serenity (the Firefly movie) in 2003. I also don’t subscribe to any streaming services. I buy (and therefore own) DVD’s and Blue-rays. mostly purchased second hand off of Ebay. I then RIP and reformat to X.264 so everything is accessible at any time without hunting through the physical media. I have a knackered spine along with being over 6" tall so cinema's were uncomfortable 20 years ago and would be torture for me today. But having a 65" TV and comfy arm chairs at home is far better in every way. If I need the loo or want to get another beer I can pause the movie, I can alter the sound volume to my perfect level and if I miss something I can skip back a few seconds. Add to this no little sh!ts kicking the back of the chairs, no sticky floors, no half-wits yacking or using their phones. No 20 minute drives there and back, no parking fees, no extortionate prices for food & drinks, etc, etc..… plus the movie always starts when I want it too.

I would say the majority of TV has always been a bit naff, we forget when looking back all the shows we avoided and naturally only remember what we considered to be the good stuff. They were still making some good shows in the 2010's and running up to about 2014. Shows like Elementary, Grimm (ironically set in Portland), Castle and Burn Notice were all started in the late 2000's and ran on for 6-7 seasons into the 2010’s. I purchased the Burn Notice box-set (second hand off Ebay) a couple of months back and have been enjoying a few episodes a week since then. I also have classic TV I loved as a child from the 60's and 70's onwards, like ST:TOS, Bewitched, "Alias Smith & Jones", Porridge and "I Claudius", along with more modern TV like B5, Buffy, SG-1 & Atlantis along with those shows I listed above. My library has over 2600 TV show episodes and close to 500 movies at present and it is growing every month or two. I spend more time playing computer games and on KZbin than watching my TV/Movie collection, and I spend an average of maybe £10 a month on physical media (including CD's). I have not watched broadcast TV for 6 years now (Oct 2018) when I cancelled both the TV-TAX (in the UK) and Sky subscription and my only regret is that I didn't cancel them both a few years earlier when I was first thinking about doing so, as the quality of TV was dropping fast.

I recall a podcast with someone from movie industry. He said that now diversity in the cast is no longer enough. Every crew member needs to be diversified. It means, he proceeded, that highly technical positions need to have diversity. And there are not nearly enough POC people for those positions because they are not interested in those jobs. Those are the jobs that white men enjoy and do well. So, when there is a diverse man or a woman who can do that tech job well, they will pay them triple because if they dont, someone else will snatch them. Thinking about what he said, I am asking myself, is terrible CGI in new movies stems from this issue? Terrible fight sequences, stupid shooting angles. They must have filled with women and POC every project in Hwood by now. The only people who can ignore this cancer is those old famous moviemakers who earned their place long ago with dozens of successful movies.
