I know how California can fix all of their problems. 1) Raise taxes. It always helps when a government has more money to better govern. 2) More cities should claim to be sanctuary. The new influx of migrants will help all the cities financially and help build a safe community. . "Diversity is our strength." 3) Make more laws and put more Judges that have understanding for the victims of society, and keep them from going to prison so that their lives will not be ruined. 4) Put a law into place that will provide reparation payments to people whose forefathers suffered from slavery. 5) Raise taxes on everyone 10% to pay for it. More money to the government always works out best. 6) Double the amount that drug addicts living on the streets get. This will induce them to seek help. 7) Legalize drugs. 8) Ban gun ownership. That will reduce crime. 9) "Defund the Police" and hire trained social works to come on the scene or any complaint. Most definitely this has been proven to reduce crime. 10) Put more progressive politicians in that agree with these measures. Up to now, progressives have proven what a benefit they are for the society. I'm sure that all this will bring California back to life and stop the mass exodus.

I love that Denis takes his time to build the world, despite complaints of Dune 2 feeling rushed in the second half, even with a 2hr48min runtime. In the book, Feyd is introduced in the first 50 pages, but is introduced halfway through Dune 2. Denis takes financial risks for the sake of the story and he could've made a 20hr masterpiece that wouldn't feel rushed if given the chance, which makes me curious about the HBO show coming that Denis was involved in producing. On another note, I like the point you made regarding the harmony between sound and image.

I think one of the things affecting a lot of Hollywood nowadays is that most films are made to expect a sequel. Instead of just being made and then could get a sequel in the future. Back to the future was never meant to have a sequel, the ending was put in as a joke. I still need to watch dune but now part two is out aswell I can watch one after the other. Arrival is one of my favorite movies of all time! You definitely have it spot on through this video Zach. Great video. Wish I had seen it sooner!

My opinion is Denis Villeneuve being the best director of his generation. He is the new Steven Spielberg. Every movie he makes is worth watching an way over the average production.

that is a good take. I went to see his Blade Runner, as well. Saw it again much later at home and it was better than I remembered, to say, it was better the second time.

Absolutely spot on. Denis Villeneuve is the best director of this time period. Everything he touches is gold. He doesn't get too engulfed in his own ego (Nolan) and focuses on creating passion project perfection every single time.

give me a kong X godzilla type movie every year, that franchise is a blast. i want dune's and roller coasters. my main gripe with both DUNE films is the pacing is all over the place. Part 1 falls right on it's face in the final act - Part 2 has a massive flatline in the mid point. it's fine though i think BR 2049 is one of the most boring movies of all time.. but i wouldn't change a single thing about it.

I keep seeing this silly argument being replicated, but it ignores the fact that there are always great movies being made. You need to stop focusing on the hyper-budget spectacles corporations are cramming down our throats. They've done this since cinema started, which means you're not paying attention to the choices available. That's easy to do and I get that information overload blocks out great stuff with vapid entertainment. However, there are tons of passionate filmmakers bleeding for their art. I think we owe them a chance. I liked Dune, but it's doing the same thing the crappy mindless entertainment is doing and that's eclipsing the chances for smaller, brilliant work to stand out.

I really like those new Dune Movies. I watched the 80‘s Movie for comparison to check who was closer to the book? It was interessting to see the different aproach to filming the book. But i‘m also not totally hyped. For my taste they are not too long. But the sound was weird. The Dolby Atmos bass was so damn loud that it was uncomfortable for me. Even the screen showed the drastic bass waves. I don‘t need that. So i have mixed feelings about the sound design. The story in part two makes a strange timejump after that all of a sudden Chani was in love with Paul. The character development didn‘t catched me there. And maybe it‘s Zeitgeist and the real world wars and threats we are facing but i feel odd over the whole dschihadish Story. So i like the movies and the craftmanship behind it. But i‘m not hyped.
