I always love seeing locations I recognize on film, especially things that were filmed close to home around the Vancouver area :)

I remember seeing most of these too! Except for maybe the six million dollar man - that was a bit before my time!

Another film that utilized the tour attractions is "The Nude Bomb" (1980), which incorporates the old "Battlestar Galactica" attraction. I've got a Studio tour program from the 1970s, so things have mightily changed since then. The "King Kong" attraction that was lost in the fire was really cool - I still have home video from a 1996 visit that features it.

Nice! I'm going to have to look that one up. I loved the Battlestar attraction!

@@ExitThrutheGiftShop I know there was a TV movie as well in 1989 that brought back much of the original cast but yes, "The Nude Bomb" was theatrical. My Dad took me to see "The Empire Strikes Back", which was playing at the Stanley but alas we arrived to find all showings that day sold out so we wound up downtown for plan B: "The Nude Bomb" at the Vogue. Surprisingly, there was plenty of seating for that one!

Universal Hollywood is definitely on my bucket list of things out west!! I remember that Different Strokes episode well. Plus, the Six Million Dollar Man with Bigfoot; serious deep cut there 😀 Awesome research!!
@ExitThrutheGiftShop3 жыл бұрын
lol - I was happy I was able to dig up footage of Andre the Giant as Bigfoot. Lately I've been enjoying revisiting old shows and seeing actors in roles before they became famous :)

The studio tour is classic, although they keep replacing attractions with screens, like fast and the furious or Kong skull island. These are ok, but in my opinion they don't live up to the excitement of something like earthquake!

does anyone know if the Psycho House was moved for the Knight Rider episode? The location of it just doesn't seem right
@ExitThrutheGiftShop2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure this answers your question exactly, but it's pretty fascinating history: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qaa8fHuforaqqpY

@@ExitThrutheGiftShop Thank you for seeing me the video! I've been doing some research into the whereabouts of the Psycho House myself but its an absolute minefield lmao. The Bates Motel is not the original it seems, having been built Psycho 3 along with the stairs leading up to the house. I've found many images of the House standing by itself without the Bates Motel set but I can't find any dates relating to the picture. The tarmacked road seems to be from around the same time that either the Jurassic Park 2 set or the War of the Worlds set was being built. Then again, it could have been from the Whoville set. With the house I really can't find anything concrete at all, its all super confusing
@ExitThrutheGiftShop2 жыл бұрын
Seems like they build and reuse the structures frequently for different purposes so it makes it difficult to keep track!
