Hollywood's most famous Ace you've never heard of

Featuring WWII American Fighter Ace and 29-year Navy veteran, Cmdr. Dean S. "Diz" Laird. Diz is the only known Navy Ace to have victories over both Japanese and German planes, and was also a stunt pilot for "Tora! Tora! Tora!" and currently a docent on the USS Hornet - Sea, Air and Space Museum.

Bravo Zulu, Diz. I also served on the Hornet (‘64-‘64) with VMA-214 Det N. Like you I love(d) flying. Highlight of my 20 year career in the Corps was my time aboard the Hornet where I managed to accumulate enough traps to make it into the Centurion ranks. Kudos to your service and Ace status of downing Axis bogies.👍🇺🇸🎊
