Great ending to the Davidson era. Me and my friends with Special Olympics were singing the same song when we left Calgary for Winter Games Nationals; we got Bronze in curling. Great memories with both❤️❤️

I just got finished watching the original Squares final daytime show from 6-20-80 with Peter Marshall.Now here,s the final episode of The Hollywood Squares with John Davidson.Being they had Charles Nelson Reilly sitting in George Gobel,s old square-it,s too bad they didn,t have Brett Somers & Gene Rayburn on the show as well as Rose Marie George Gobel & the original Master Of The Squares Peter Marshall.

At that time, the only other time that I think there was trick photography on a game show was a Bob Clayton episode of Concentration when the Christmas decorations magically appeared on the set.

Reruns continued to air through the summer, like most syndicated shows do after their final first-run episode.

When Hollywood squares returned back to television in Fall 1998 Whoopi Goldberg was the center square & Tom Bergeron who hosted that show until 2004!

Changing trend of television at the time is what Joan Rivers blames for the cancellation. People stopped watching game shows by the end of the 1980s in favor for trashy talk shows that began to explode onto television in the late 80s and early 90s.

@@MrWildcat2009 I wrote to them for guest suggestions, but they turned it down. So, I stopped watching the show before getting cancelled.
