Here is an early episode of the weekly syndicated version of The Hollywood Squares with Peter Marshall, where every winner is guaranteed a brand new car, along with the usual assortment of cash and potential Secret Square prizes.

Loved to watch this show as it made me laugh forget my troubles helped me out of my depression in grade jr high hugh school young adult to hear see Paul Lynde Wally Cox Charley Weaver Or Buddy Hacckett others helped me laugh during a very down time in my life ! Have always looked to humor to try to cope !

Well, perhaps so - I recall that we had one (purchased by Mom and Dad) around 1970 - it lasted until about the year 2000. That old expression, "They don't make them like they used to" is entirely true. It's now (for appliances) all about planned obsolescence - after maybe 7 or 8 years.

The BIG three...Charley, Wally, and Paul. The show was never the same after Wally and Charley died.

I've watched more than a half dozen episodes of this era and have to laugh when I think of all the Chevy Vegas they gave away so I guess that there was quite the surplus of lemons that year

It was good to see Doc Severensen and Ed McMahon appear on HS.Can you imagine if Johnny Carson was on this as well.The audience would be in stitches 😂😂😂

Ann Margret has a height of 5'4" to 5'5" depending on the source. She was probably 5 feet tall when she was 12 but she was definitely taller than that in 1971

I like how Peter opens the show with an insult for one of his guests when he reads that he is a private detective: "Kinda hard for you to sneak around, isn't it?" Guess Peter was perfect.

Based on studio pics that I have seen, it was around 25 feet. The platform that Peter and the contestants were on was on a 4 foot riser, and they had their backs to the audience.

Hopefully not too far for a contestant to hit Bishop or Hackett with their water glasses during a break. They were both friggin camera hogs.

I went to a taping of the show back in the 60s I can tell you that the main Tic Tac toe board is very much smaller than it appears on TV. I would imagine it's not that far from where the contestants are!

Times have changed for the better. Virginia Graham was only 59 in this episode. Today, many 59 year old women are knock outs.

Women were allowed to age gracefully back then. Now to stay relevant in the biz, they have to have more work done than a kitchen remodel and end up looking ridiculous and totally inappropriate for their age.

Hackett was actually very intelligent. As a child, he suffered from Bell's Palsy, which caused his speech impediment. It became part of his "schtick".

Buddy was so obnoxious and most of the time so unfunny. Glad they dropped him from the show.
