Hearing their last album human:nature I think this is neither symphonic metal or rock, Nightwish is above that, they created something new, awesome, so no categories of the past will fit anymore, agree? "Ghost River" (not to be confused with "Ghost Love Score"). Great interplay of vocals between Marco and Floor, with Marco (you know him as "Otis" lol) growling the chorus and Floor singing angelic soprano. Floor is beyond amazing, of course, but Marco is a great singer in his own right. Very catchy, killer bass line. Speaking of Pink Floyd covers, Nightwish does a cover of "High Hopes" that is truly sick in which Marco solos. The Islander live at Wembly is a great chance to see "Otis" (Marco) showing off his own incredible voice and crowd interaction. Also it's worth noting that Tuomas, the keyboarder, composer and lyricist, wrote both of the songs you've reacted to so far for the band's former lead singers; Floor is even more incredible when singing a song that was written to take advantage of her range and talents. To that end, I cannot more highly recommend *The Greatest Show on Earth* which is about the history of life on this planet, and how it has led to Us. It was inspired by the work of famed evolutionary geneticist Richard Dawkins, and his voice features in a few places in the song, like snippets of a profound atheistic sermon. Other excellent choices from albums written with Floor in mind are *Yours is an Empty Hope, Weak Fantasy, Noise,* and *Endlessness.* Endlessness features Marco ("Otis") more heavily than Floor, so it's a great chance to hear how great his voice is, and is also an incredible song from a compositional standpoint. It starts off suddenly, in the middle of a musical "phrase", for lack of a better word, and there are several points where it feels like the song is swelling to some sort of crescendo, but instead it just keeps building and building, then it eases off without any meaningful release before starting to build all over again, which I think is an incredible metaphor for the nature of existence, which I think is what the song is about.

Nightwish has so much to offer to you from catchy over folk towards heavy. Here is a suggestion for a nice travel through the variety of Nightwish. -> "Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean" (Buenos Aires) will give you a metal and power blast -> There are a couple of great songs from Wacken: Song of Myself, Ever Dream, Romanticide, Last Ride of the Day, Ghostriver, ... -> "Yours an Empty Hope" from Wembley (have a good look at the growls) -> "The greatest Show on Earth" (Tampere) and "The Poet and the Pendulum (Wembley - get to know the background of this song ahead) -> Then the new stuff with "Noise" (Video), „Shoemaker“, "Harvest (Lyric Video) ... Just my personal thoughts :-) One thing you can definitely be sure of: Every song is different, has some surprising transitions, is intense. Hey, you two are really enjoyable to watch! Very genuine and open minded reactions, you are clearly having lots of fun. Sub earned! So, from what I have seen, you have developed quite the taste for metal and want to check out more genres and/or unique bands? So far you liked melodic mixed with harder stuff, you don't mind harsh vocals, if done good, and you can spot a good compostion when you hear it. You're referencing Pink Floyd cover ; in fact, one of the very rare instance of Nightwish making a cover is a Pink Floyd sound. I can't recommend you enough to go check out High Hopes by Nightwish. Floor isn't here (it was before her era), but Marco stand his ground.

I took my wife to the Imaginarium concert when she was half way through her pregnancy carrying our son (born in March 2013, so, late 2012). The venue was standing only. She told me afterward that he was rocking out the entire concert. Funny of funnies was, when he got really fussy after he was born, I put this album on and...well, kiddo went right to sleep--even when colic was the nemesis. Now that he is 9, well, when the stars align, we plan to take him to his second Nightwish concert.

Nightwish is indeed amazing! Another band with superb music & crowd control is Iron Maiden. Check out "Fear of the Dark" from "Rock in Rio" 2001. "Hallowed be thy Name" from Live After Death" is amazing, too (from 1985). "Dance of Death" & "Paschendaele" from "Death on the Road" are good ones, too. Maiden have spent the last 45 years honing their craft & it shows. They are, IMHO, the best band in existence. Great reaction to Nightwish!

nightwish does have a pink floyd cover, and Otis is the vocals behind the cover... you should listen to the song ever dream by nightwish.. one of my favorites, also part of their wacken 2013 setlist.

And I think Nightwish is no longer Symphonic Metal band, theyre Metalized the Symphonic.. Theyre absolutely on the another level.. Speaking about cover, they do cover Alone - Heart, check it out (Nightwish, theyre doing acoustic version), would blow ur mind.. Btw, all Wacken concert cant get u wrong.. Never disappoint..
