As others have pointed out, the James Gang is fronted by Joe Walsh, whom you guys have already listened to during his solo work and with the Eagles.

Don't you hate when reactors are constantly asking "what genre is this"? That's my biggest pet peeve with music reactors. My 2nd is the reactors who want to provide lyrical analysis of songs I've known since they were released decades ago.

Fun Fact: The James Gang is best known for their guitarist, Joe Walsh, whose playing on this track helped establish him as a superstar axeman. Walsh joined the Cleveland-based group in 1969 after making a name for himself as one of the top guitar men in Ohio. He replaced Glenn Schwartz in the band, who Walsh considers a mentor. They were a 5-piece when Walsh joined, but were down to three (like popular acts Cream and The Jimi Hendrix Experience) when they released their second album James Gang Rides Again. With just three members, it meant Walsh had to play both rhythm and lead guitar parts, and also sing (he got a lot more help when he joined the Eagles in 1975). It was quite a learning experience for Walsh, who left the James Gang in 1971 after recording three studio albums with the group. - This Song Was A Downloadable Content (DLC) For The Video Game Rock Band 2

They did in fact have a Funk #48 that came out in 1969 and this one came out in 1970. The singer/guitarist is Joe Walsh pre-EAGLES.

Joe Walsh is an amazing Guitarist, and has had a long and varied career, with many great bands. Seen the man twice in concert, both times with the Joe Walsh Band, once on his "Confessor" tour and once in a club, coming in drunk off the bus. A freaking riot, and he still rocked out, and he even played "Funk #49" both times.

Long before Joe Walsh played with The Eagles, he started this Band in the early 70s. The James Gang was a combination of Funk, and Hard Rock. Walsh was not only one of the best guitarists in the world, but he was also a gifted song writer as well. One of the greats.

...here I was, FNG in Vietnam...was billeted in a barracks-type housing. My first night I heard this, being a kinda rocker from SoCal I was astonished that I'd never heard it. Well, after a couple of nights, this tune rumbling the building, I finally gathered the courage (after all, I was a fuckin' new guy in a Cav troop) and walked down the aisle and introduced myself. My new, and forever, buddy invited me in, offered some vino, and we got into the James Gang. Life changed and my upcoming year of getting shot at got a little easier!

The '70s were a GREAT time to be a teenage male. You bought Reefer by the finger instead of the gram. Acid was still a thing. The "Pill" was getting popular, so the girlies were all about doing the deed. Tight bell-bottom jeans and tube tops were all the rage. We had the best music in the world, and AIDS was still in the future. Good Times!
