As someone who has suffered with depression and listened to slipknot for a while, the liar to me is the heavily depressive part of my personality. The part that tells me that I should hurt myself and I would be better of dead. This song represents a rejection of that part of yourself so that you can move on in a better direction

I grew up 15 minutes from Corey Taylor's hometown of Des Moines Iowa little town Indianola. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you guys are huge fans of Slipknot. You guys are easily one of the top two or three reaction channels on KZbin. Along with Alex Hefner mr. Video.

The reason I like alex is because when he reacts to a new band he goes all in! That's my issue with rappers react. I mean the discrepancy in the videos between Slipknot and Metallica or Slipknot and Evanescence it is not a matter of probably the request that yet it's I just have realize that I don't think they like the songs from Evanescence and Metallica As much as they let on. Great song.🤘 This song is so heavy. I remember when I first saw the track list and saw the name of this I couldn't wait to hear it and when I did it was nothing like I expected but I loved it. Especially love how they threw the Salem witch trials in there. I agree with Smokey, I think he was narrating for 3 different people (himself included). Gotta check out from this album birth of the cruel or not long for this world. And yes they are dropping a new album, supposedly sometime in August. They wanted to know in the comments section if they thought Amy Lee was better than floor Jansen. I would like to revisit your statement regarding slipknot being better than metallica from day one? If you are interested we can do a little Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless debating over the subject. So. My assumption, is Chris Fehn left the band due to a Lawsuit. Chris's Mask was based off the "White Liar" mask worn during Venetian times to those Who would be known to Gossip. My assumption is This song is about Chris departing from the Band! Buuuuut, the Song does seem to have some internal anger aswell. . . . JUST A THOUGHT!! I’m not gonna lie. I’ve read some of these comments. That dnt make since to me. Liar is about being a witch… getting burned at the stake as a witch… and the liars are the ones who burned them. This song is about growth. About coming from Iowa with not shit. Then they are told you can’t do what you want to do. If you listen to it it’s all 3. That’s what’s makes slipknot great. They can tell their story as simply as they can but nobody understands it. Unless you hear it. Not listen to it like y’all do for views and likes and comments. I think this song is blatantly about Chris. After The Grey Chapter, he decided to sue the band for whatever reason, which, needless to say, seems to have not been a great decision. Not only would this make him the liar, his mask is called "the liar" because of the Pinocchio nose. Something about Clown and Corey had been making more money over the years or some shit but they do the most side stuff, and it's Clown's band to begin with.

Wasn't the album mostly done by the time he sued the band though? Granted might have still been quite a bit to do on it, but the window between him suing the band and the album coming out, I doubt they'd have written, composed and mixed a song and then managed to add it into the album tracklist.
