Since filming, the grave of Don Rickles has been marked. Check out our addendum here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rarbnaKhqdGZqq8 And clarification: David Rose wrote music and themes for Bonanza, but the main opening theme was written by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans. Also, happy to see Helen Forrest got her marker! Check it out: www.findagrave.com/memorial/6910581/helen-forrest

Norman Fell created one of my all time favorite TV characters in Stanley Roper. He came up with Roper's turn & smile at the camera gag himself. He chose to do it once, voluntarily. The director, Dave Powers I believe, just ate it up & insisted that he make it a running gag thereafter....

Who needs high blood pressure medication or antidepressants when one can feel better by just watching these videos! I would be remiss if I did not include "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" and "Time Tunnel" as great TV series created by Irwin Allen. I, too, loved the "World's Slowest Elevator." Finally, I was particularly touched by Arthur Dark's reverence with the placing of the pebble at the memorial for the six million. Thank you, Arthur, for keeping me healthy; both physically and mentally. Shalom.

RIP "Mama" Cass Elliot, vocal powerhouse of The Mamas and the Papas. Unfortunately, the only surviving member of the group is Michelle Phillips. Check out these songs featuring Cass if you are not familiar with her: "I Call Your Name", "Dream a Little Dream of Me", "It's Getting Better". By the group: "Go Where You Wanna Go", "I Saw Her Again ", "Words of Love", "Twelve Thirty", "Do You Wanna Dance", "Got a Feelin'".

I loved Don Rickles. I had no idea that there was a Jewish tradition of not getting a marker until one year after. I'll have to look that up and find out why. I also found it interesting about the Japanese animator who animated so many of my favorites. Especially Scooby Doo. Was he Jewish as well? Wouldn't have expected him to be in that cemetery. I've also never been in a cemetery where there's an elevator. You were right about it being slow!

I am pleasantly "addicted" to your great video tributes to these many stars of our past!! Some videographers, in the past, have DIShonored these dear ones with calloused videos and/or comments. But I'm glad to say that I GREATLY appreciate how YOU honor their memories with film clips, music and information about their lives. It appears so many of them have no one to care for their graves anymore.....rather sad, ya? Here they devoted their lives to entertaining millions of us and yet you've had to actually excavate some of the markers from overgrowth of grass and soil. Have you ever thought of getting cemetery permission to trim around and clean their markers before filming? A mineral oil rub does wonders to restore luster and color to headstone markers. Keep up the wonderful job of honoring these dear people's memories with your work!!! :o)
@psychcorp4449
@psychcorp4449 6 жыл бұрын
N. Elliott Noorlun: Your observations and assessments are spot on. Thanks for the tip on the mineral oil rub. In addition, it is my understanding that some cemeteries (e.g., Forest Lawn) sell kits that include a brush and polish to keep the headstone shiny and looking new. Regarding Arthur Dark's creations, I am pleased that you also recognize it as exceptional work that enriches our lives.

Thanks for clarifying what I've been trying to tell people for YEARS - and that is Cass Elliott died of heart failure and NOT by chocking on a ham sandwich. I remember this so well, because she is the first celebrity that I mourned. I was 14 at the time, and I remember the initial reports saying it was a ham sandwich. But it was only a few days later that it was all over the news that it was a heart attack, NOT a ham sandwich, yet for reasons I can't understand, the ham sandwich story has not gone away.

Love your work!! Instead of walking around the graves, and saying that's so and so, you tell a little history story of how each celebrity made their mark in Hollywood. Question though, being that My. Sinai is a predominantly Jewish cemetery, how was Iwao Takamoto able to be buried there??

You don't necessarily have to be Jewish to be buried there. For example, if someone is Jewish, but their spouse isn't, they can still be buried together. I don't know for certain, but it may be that Takamoto's wife was Jewish.

in 70 AD an event known as the diaspora scattered the Jews all over the world. That event was when the Romans who were then ruling Israel destroyed the temple in Jerusalem and began to persecute the Jews and Christians in earnest like never before killing thousands. Both the Christians and the Jews left the land of Israel and migrated to other nations all over the world, hence there are jewish people in almost every nation, including Japan. Being jewish is a religion not a nationality. There are Chinese Jews, Japanese Jews, Italian Jews, English Jews, Brazilian Jews, Swedish Jews, etc. It's not out of the question that Iwao Takamoto was buried in Mount Sinai Memorial Park because his religion was Jewish.

Great minds think alike. I, too, would love to see a "behind the scenes" video. However, my gut feeling is that Arthur Dark's belief is that the deceased are the "stars of the show" and it would be unprofessional for him to be in front of the camera. If this is the case, I respect Arthur's value system. That said, I would still love to see more about how these magnificent videos are made.

Mike Fisher, I love the celebrity roasts as well. Don Rickles made me laugh so hard and then almost cry when he spoke from the heart.

Totie Fields was such a great comedienne. I watch everything I can find. Its a shame there is not too much out there to see. Georgie is there interred with her, they can be seen together in some Tattle Tales videos. A great entertainer and a great couple.

The placing of stones on a grave led to formal headstones. When people visit a grave we continue to place rocks, stones, pebbles on the headstone. Depending on the ircumstances burial at sea or in a cave are allowed. The Patriarchs and Matriarchs are buried in a cave as the one in Hebron - the Cave of Machpelah or the Tomb of the Patriarchs. The leaving of flowers is not a Jewish tradition.
