Comparing it to the wide margin, the paper feels like it is 32 GSM. Alot of people are having issues with crinkled or folded paper out of box. Mine came with the first three pages after the presentation page were folded. Some are also having issues with ribbon length and cut being inconsistent. I still love having it as a companion to my single column wide margin. This will be a great preaching bible once broken in. Great EDC

I love this text block. I just received one just like your review copy. I love the feel of the leather. I also have this in the saddle leather.

I really like this Bible, but the gutter issue is a deal breaker for me.

Thanks for the review Randy. I have this on preorder so it will be interesting to see whether my copy comes with the same issues. This will be my first csb, and I really love what I've seen re the text block so I hope I can manage to live with it's short comings

Got this a few days ago and I really love the text block. It is a great reading experience. The gutter is no issue whatsoever it's just that the tab is a bit stiff but I'm sure it will break in. There is some show through but the more I'm reading it the less it's bothering me. The biggest issue I have with the one I received is the smell. The leather has a really pungent chemical smell. I'm really hoping that over time it will wear off. The leather does wrinkle as well when the Bible is opened. I do wish Holman had used Goatskin, I would have gladly paid extra.

I have to be honest, I do not like this layout, the text is almost too overwhelming to look at. I have the NKJV single column reference which looks very close in size, and it's much more pleasant. Love the font, it seems very similar to the comfort print which I love. I'm glad I went with the verse by verse edition instead. Great bible!

Do you think with time and wearing in, the gutter will expand a bit/be more flexible and allow for better reading? I'm guessing the raised hub design contributes to that? Thanks for your reviews 👍

Hi Russ. I haven't had any Bibles to loosen in the gutter. I've only had the tabs to loosen.

hello, excellent review! I've got one question between this one and the Nelson NKJV paragraph, the new one the brown one; which one do you think it's better? and if you were to choose between the translations, which translation do you think is better, NKJV or CSB? and the reason I ask you these questions is because I only read KJV, but I really like this paragraph format, so I'm not sure which one to choose. thank you!

Thanks Paul! I love both translations, but I lean toward the NKJV. Between the two Bibles, I prefer the design of this Holman, but the quality of the NKJV is better.

Great review! The paper isn't as opaque and "clean" as hoped for. The biggest downside of my initial impression concerns the very pronounced lingering musty smell it emits. I realize i could pose this question to Hohman, but i just received my order of the premium marbled burgandy calf skin in the mail today. First thing out of the box is the smell (like an old moldy box of books stored for a few decades! I'm not sure why, but could anyone comment on if it's worth trying to let it air out or return? Nothing visible appears wrong, but the smell is quite strong even lingering in my small home office (in the air). Any advice or wisdom shared is appreciated!

I have the wide margin version of this one. I love it and I was hoping this would be a good EDC version. But I'm not sure because I've heard the crinkly paper is an issue in many of these and also I'm slightly annoyed there's not more space between the text and the gutter. I love everything else about it given the price point - around $100 for a Bible printed in China (rather than for example printed in the Netherlands by Royal Jongbloed like with Schuyler Bibles). As it is, I'm in between getting this vs. using the $100 or so towards a Schuyler CSB either Quentel or PSQ since I really want a portable premium CSB. But the problem is i strongly prefer single column and I don't know of a good premium single column paragraph format portable CSB. 🥴
