Thank you for including a sun shot of Reflective Taco! That finish is all the rage these days but I've never purchased one because like you said, who has phone flash pointing at their nails on a regular basis? I figured if I was going to try it, I'd trust it from HT. But with no sun in Canada, Cristine couldn't speak to how it looked in that lighting, lol. So thank you!

I have three reflective polishes, and you can definitely see the effect irl and not just through your phone, but it is only at certain angles.

You're welcome! I have found that for in my house, my kitchen has pretty good lighting for reflective polishes as well. They look great in a variety of lighting thankfully not just in the sun.

They twinkle in the sun. Or in crappy overhead lighting even. I love them, not for how they look in flash, even though I frequently have my phone flash light on, but the way they twinkle in everyday lighting

I had no idea the KB shimmer brushes fit in the Holo Taco cap - super exciting info! I don't wear my Holo Taco polishes as much as I'd like because ugh, that brush. This collection is super pretty and I'm glad I'm going to be able to do some brush replacements for it

Holo taco does sell their wide flat brushes. So you can buy a bundle of 6 I think it is.

@@ellisarandles9186 that is true but it is $10 per 6 pack and the KB Shimmer brushes are only 20 cents each, plus there's less waste since you reuse the same cap. It is nice though that Holo Taco provides that option for people who prefer their medium wide creme brush.

So true that weather conditions can totally make or break a manicure day! Here in Seattle it’s so damp and cold in the winter it’s impossible to get anything to set down without a really really good quick dry top coat, but in summer when it’s not humid and we have nice mid-70s/80s temps I get some of my best manicures! Really excited to see how this “white” linear pulls on my skin tone. Your swatches it really popped especially in the sun OMG! On Cris it really pulled that gray tint in her stream lighting this morning, so I think that’s the one I’m really anxious about! Lavenders tend to look odd with my undertones for some reason so I really hope it doesn’t fall in the lavender camp.

I loved your review! I ordered the box the second it went live! I love reviews for these types of collections because it gets me even more excited! My favorite polish from the anniversary box last year was Heavy Metal Mixtape and the only one I’ve actually worn and multiple times at that! 😂 so I’m excited for Blacklisted! I’m thrilled for the black metallic foil with a touch of holo! I love all of these so much! There wasn’t a single one where I was like “yeah….I don’t think I’d wear that.” So I’m thrilled! Smokeshow is also stunning! I’m with you on the brushes! I wish they all just came with the thick brushes 🤦🏻‍♀️ some of these look like they really needed the thicker brush! Love reflective polishes and I agree totally with you that they are most beautiful without flash! I personally love them in lower light when they just catch a little light and sparkle. Great review, loved the comparisons and love that Cristine supports smaller channels. So excited for these to arrive and to try layering scattered and reflective taco 😃

I am SO excited about this collection! I don’t have anything like these. It’s everything I love-ridiculous amounts of glitter and holo, tons of different elements, original formulas, and no cremes 🎉 like, I don’t think I can easily get dupes of these, definitely not among my own polishes. I actually got spares of all of them other than Reflective Taco. I am so confused about why they aren’t keeping all the polishes long-term-they feel so original (especially compared to the rest of their catalog). Tysm for this review. Also, I laughed at “morally opposed to matte on holo” 😂 I VERY MUCH agree!

I feel the same way about how people show off reflective polishes. Everyone hypes up the "phone flash" version but it's my least favorite and you NEVER see the polish look like that unless you purposely put your phone's flash on it. I do love reflective glitters though cause they sparkle like diamonds in the sun. I'm super excited for my box set order of these to come in the mail! Love the monochromatic theme. I'll also definitely be swapping my brushes haha

can i just say i LOVE the fact that you said your least favorite way to show reflective polish is with flash on the phone bc omg. i feel like it's so rare for people to acknowledge that effect is only under specific circumstances and even moreso when reflective polish first started coming into the trend. it looks amazing under a flash through a phone but very deceiving to the eyes in real life!! still gorgeous with the sparkle though

The reflective topper won't be nearly as difficult to remove as the full coverage KBShimmer polishes (I *always* use a peel off base with those haha). I wouldn't suggest scrubbing it off because glitters can scratch the natural nails so if you soak it off or use a peel off base coat, super easy removal. If you opt for scrubbing, it will be messy and likely will rip up your cotton pad a bit

Loved this review! I know this is a weird question but what happens to the reflective topper if you put a matte top coat over it? I know no one would do that on purpose, but it's not unusual for me to switch up on mani by wearing it glossy at first and then eventually putting a matte Taco on it. Will it look weird or will it just look like little silver glitters with matte over it?

My first holo I purchased I was really disappointed, because it ended up just feeling light a grey most of the time, not a silver holo. It’s basically a top coat that smooths all of the gaps that glitters and flakies can leave behind. It’s a must have IMO with glitter polishes and some flakies. There are several on the market but my go-to is by KBShimmer and is called Smooth Moves. I have a link in the description box under Products Used area!

Smokeshow just by the swatches hands down fave. Anything chunky glitter is my jam. Just gotta get brave and start using some glitter on my eyes. So far multichromes and blinding/funky highlights are what I’m comfortable with on my face. Have you tried any Kaleidos, Oden’s Eye, Unearthly Cosmetics, Copecetic Cosmetics yet?

I’m still cautious with larger glitters around my eye area. Around my brow bone is the closest I get. Logically I recognize they’re probably not any worse than the tiny glitters I use but 😬 Not yet!
