I'm wondering if Teal No Lies is their new take on what the frosted metals sort of are. I know they're not the same, but just the idea of it being dense metallic flecks in a base colour so it's both really opaque but also very intense in person. And if so, as much as I love the frosted metals - I think this new Teal No Lies formula seems amazzzzing, so defo hope to see more of it! (Thinking a neon green???)

I’m glad I’m not the only one who saw a brighter, clearer shade of pink in the official photos of Blush Money! I have found some Holo Taco colors in general to be a bit dustier/more muted than advertised, and thought it was something to do with me and/or my devices. At least I don’t feel as crazy now! I might still pick it up because, as someone who literally looks like uncooked chicken, mauvey pinks are my ideal nudes!

yeah this is the second time its happened to me! the first was with Life in Plastic, in my review vid I showed Cristine’s swatch where it looks almost neon and how I was expecting that shade, so it kinda sucks it happened again.. I know others have experienced it more recently too with Solo Mission, but I think it’s because Cristine said it was like a pinky nude on stream or something?? idk why else so many other people would expect it to be rosy at all when its so brown lol. but stopp not the uncooked chicken comment 💀 it def still is a pretty shade!!

Only the teal really caught my eye but i thought abt it more - and staining is a dealbreaker! The cornflower holo too is pretty, but i feel like ILNP will eventually make one 😆 I don't wear pink or red nail polishes so the rest is an easy skip. The smoothing base, im happy with my Cirque Linen as a color-correcting base! And if i wanted the ridge-filling effect i'll go for the KB Shimmer one just for the price point ☺️ Glad to be saving money this round 😂

I guess I was going off the email sneak peek of it where it just looked a lot lighter so seeing it irl had me like 🙁 I do think a lot of the website swatches look muted too though, I had the same experience with Life in Plastic (specifically Cristine’s swatches) where the pink looks so much lighter & brighter, I’m guessing due to her more professional lighting setup 😅 hopefully you’ll try it in one coat over a lighter pink, I think that helped so much!

@@PolishedYogi 💯 I so much prefer the original glitter formula from Plumb Luck. That one is so so gooood! I think I really just wish they would go all out and do a rainbow or seasons of crushed holo. I love that finish. I really thought the Teal was going to be spot on for Never Tide Down. I was so surprised it was so different! Maybe I’ll catch it in a reward or when it goes on sale if it is still around then. ☺️

I don't really understand why Holo Taco continues to add shimmers that are the same colour as the base, I feel like they just get completely lost. Also, I get why they say "designed by Holo Royalty" but it's just really not an accurate reflection of the process. Literally just some surveys with preselected options. (Tbf idk how one would make it more involved than that, but it's not true to say Holo Royalty *designed* more *voted on* the polishes). Thank you once again for your great review vids, Stefanie! ETA: Adding on now that I've finished the video... The glow in Spyglass does look stunning but I guess it's something that feels easily dupable? I didn't participate in this years loyalty sale because I've been wanting to watch review videos before committing to buying polishes and I think it's a shame that HT has been sending PR packages to reviewers so late. So, it just kind of makes me feel like they don't want customers to make more informed decisions. Idk, just feel a bit taken advantage of maybe? I'll always appreciate Cristine bc she's why I got into polish but I'm a bit underwhelmed with the brand rn. I fear she's too concerned with making everyone happy and therefore not really committing to any specific creative vision.

Yeah that was my concern about Spyglass too! That it would blend in too much like the pink shimmer in toe beans, but it does look like a totally different shimmer pigment so I’m glad they changed it up in that regard. & I personally don’t think it would be easily dupable since a lot of shimmer toppers aren’t as fine/densely packed, unless maybe you sponged it on?? so maybe 🤔 And yeah I totally get you too with “designed by” Holo Royalty not being super accurate bc of the process, I do wonder if they’d be able to make it more involved next year? It seems like this year had some more structure than last so they might be able to think of something, though I imagine it’d still be difficult due to the sheer amount of feedback/input they’d get 😅 But agh yeah that’s my one gripe with Holo Taco, they send PR soo late 🥲 I know it’s just PR and there’s no expectations or requirements to share, and it’s great they commission content from a ton of creators who post on launch day so it makes sense they get their packages earlier, but it still sucks lol 🙈 I personally dont agree with them not wanting customers to make informed decisions, mainly because this & the previous launch were excluded from the sale so the discounts wouldn’t apply to them and there isn’t the same FOMO/low stock issues as years before, but I do understand why you feel that way. It seems like they’ve only recently listened to feedback regarding sharing swatches before the launch, so hopefully they’ll continue to improve on that front too. It’s so interesting to hear you & others say you’re feeling underwhelmed by them lately bc I feel like they’re finally being more creative with their releases 🙈

​@@PolishedYogi yes, fair about Spyglass! It's hard to tell over the screen so I really appreciate hearing your thoughts. Honestly even just changing up the language! As Holo Royalty (lol) I don't feel any ownership over these polishes this year, and I didn't over last year's. Just saying "Vote on by..." But maybe I'm getting too picky lol. I think it's awesome they commission creators to post on launch day/have swatchers who will post given they've received their packages and have swatched for the website. I think the reason I feel that way re: PR is that it would be so easy for them to just adjust when they send things out so that PR packages are sent a bit earlier. I might've picked up items from the sale if I knew what I was getting myself in for based on reviews. As someone who has bought a lot of HT for a long time, I really don't want to pick things up just because anymore. I do agree that HT is releasing more creative formulas and collections but I think some of us started shopping indies when HT was in its less inspired period and so now their releases feel kind of meh by comparison. I don't know, it's definitely interesting because as you say, the brand is implementing those changes but I wonder if some of us have kind of reached the point where our polish needs have diverged from the brand. I mean I do think there are people who feel the same as you about not feeling ownership over these, but I am curious; were these shades/finishes you voted on? Even if you did, I still understand wanting to changing up the language, but if you didn’t it would make a lot more sense lol. I think if I was Royalty I would be so annoyed/bummed over the things I voted for not making it to production.. 😅 & I also think the PR thing is an easy fix!! it really makes me wonder why they can’t send it sooner.. the more I think about it, the more I’m inclined to believe what you said in your original comment. maybe they really only want positive or at the very least neutral posts on launch, which I get but.. yeah. that totally makes sense too that you & others who have dabbled in other indie brands just aren’t excited by what they’re putting out (that’s generally how I’ve felt about Holo Taco since the beginning lol 🙈) but it’s really great that you’ve come to realize you don’t need to buy everything from them anymore! the market is sooo saturated and there’s just no way one brand is going to satisfy all our needs you know? I agree with your thoughts, this collection is very cute. I picked up the teal and the holo pouch as well as a few other polishes during the sale. After watching your video I had to go back and get spyglass because I just love the crushed holo formula. The shimmer looks ery electric blue and paired with the dusty cornflower base I feel like it is a delightful combo and will work for me when I'm on the job as well. I enjoyed this collection and the space one. I think it's fair that people say they are underwhelming considering their past rainbow releases, but I am happy that they are leaning into the browns, neutrals and more earthy colors. I think their formula is great and I love having the browns, orange/reds and dusty pinks. As always, thank you for a wonderful and fun video!

I got the Pink Smoothing Base, Spyglass and Teal No Lies right after launch. I skipped on the two glitter ones as I can't be bothered with the removal process... So, I really hoping that Teal No Lies' micro-flake formula will be one that comes off the nail easily too. I'd love to get the gorgeous teal and purple colours as crushed holo formula eventually.

i hear you on the glitter removal 🙈 I think the microflakes in Teal No Lies is really similar to Bottle Service for example, so its easy to remove but you might get them stuck in the surrounding skin, I use an acetone tub so I did notice a few sparkles here and there lol but nothing too bad! and ugh yes totally with you on wanting bold crushed holos!! the purple and teal would be a dream 🤩

The holo pouch is so pretty. The pink smoothing base, “Blush Money” (😮‍💨😮‍💨 oh I especially like it over the pink base), and “Spy Glass” (😮‍💨) are my faves. I really like the skittle! I have to still write that I love Cirque’s “Chiffon”, “Odette” and will be getting them💃🏿 I love Holo’s “Pinky Swear”, “Menchie the Cat”, 😢 and “Toe Beans” 🥲 “Life in Plastic” and Cirque’s “True Love’s First Kiss”. I prefer “Never Tide Down” and “Snake Charmer” over “Teal No Lies”. MC “Sabertooth” and Cirque’s “Spoonful of Sugar” over “Spy Glass”. I’m fine with the collection being sold out. I will maybe pick up some few later if available but I have more important polishes I am getting June 1st (like alllt the Cirque Jelly’s 😈). I agree with you, this collection was cute. I lol at the “basic” comment because it’s so true. I ended up picking up Spyglass and Teal No Lies. I thought the pink was going to be lighter like you did so I was disappointed when watching over the promo video to decide. And … I don’t love purple polishes (ban me now) so skipped the glitter, though I do love the new square glitters they’re starting to release. I was more excited for the sale, ended up picking up some of the Mars polishes and a new light blue linear that my 7 year old niece stole from me last year lol.

I haven’t had the chance to try Pink Smoothing Base for a proper wear test, but I imagine it would last the same as mooncat and other milky bases and be equally good.. but Holo Taco’s Long Lasting Base doesn’t last on me lol so I actually don’t know how i’ll like it! 🙈

I've been seeing them here and there but hadn't purchased anything and then they released the Bunnies of Bridgerton Gardens and O. M. Geeeeeeeee!!! Gorgeous shimmers!!! I even passed on BKL Ghost Walker (which I was certain I would get) bc Daisy Hopper is so good. Their formula is fantastic, the bottles are massive (17ml) and the price point is amazing!!! Plus the BOBG is a charity collection benefitting, you guessed it, bunnies 😍 I swear I'm not affiliated with them in any way but I am just so impressed with the brand. They're my newest "discovery" lol And they send the cutest stickers with your purchases. I'm a sucker for stickers 😂

I skipped the entire royalty sale because I know Mooncats sae is around the corner so I gotta save somehow 😅 I will be picking up the teal and the blue since they are LE. I waited for your review to get them. I love your comparisons and swatches they really help alot. You sold me on the teal. Any advice to avoid staining? sorry i’m a few days late to responding! but i like mooncat’s nail primer or cirque’s ridge filling base to help prevent staining! i don’t think you could go wrong with any milky base, i heard you can also just use a sheer pink over a clear base coat and that can help too!

i'm so color blind LOL Brucie and the teal seemed so much more similar in my mind. I'm excited for this collection but i'm bummed over the current glitter trend HT is taking. i adore the OG glitter formula and i'm not a huge fan of the square glitters overall so to keep seeing more come out while the originals get cut back is a bummer for me.

I've been a fan of Holo Taco from the beginning. That being said, I'm in a weird place with the brand. I love that they are branching out into new formulas and mixed formula releases but when I get the polishes home, they haven't been meeting my expectations lately. In my opinion, the holo in the jellies is dull (like the anniversary collection) and the formulas have been thick and hard to work with. Then I compare them to a brand like ILNP who is cranking out collections with great formulas at a much cheaper price point and it leaves me scratching my head. I really want to support the brand but I'm also getting more hesitant these days. Mooncat has a similar price point but I haven't had any of these issues with their products so I don't mind the cost there.

I've been a huge Mooncat fan for a while and I've looked at some other indie brands. Sadly, nothing in Holo Taco's selection has wowed me as much as Mooncat's does. I'd love to support other brands, but the colors they offer don't look that worth it to me so I see where you're coming from.

i totally hear that! I’ve seen that sentiment expressed a lot with longtime fans, though some have slightly different reasons for being underwhelmed.. it still sucks to feel that way about a brand you loved from the beginning! and yeah that’s exactly why I kind of struggle with my reviews, they can be cute colors and I appreciate the new finishes too, but more often than not it’s just.. really basic and not exciting 😬😅 I haven’t had issues with their polishes being too thick, but I have been underwhelmed with a lot of their cremes being almost crelly like which isn’t my fav.. it’s definitely okay to realize you’re not loving what they’re doing lately, but I do hope they’ll release something that you’ll love again!

I was really about to put in an order for Holo Taco for the sale, but I literally received my first order ever from them the day the sale started, and honestly, I was pretty disappointed. i got 50 shades of greige- my first ever linear holo / holo polish ever and it literally looks so bad unless its in the perfect lighting which I personally don't like at all. If my nails don't look good when I'm indoor there's no point for me since I'm literally always indoors. I had no clue that it wouldn't look holo at all and literally be just an unflattering griege creme most of the time. I also got menchie the cat gliter which I like a lot more but overall from holo taco nothing really entices me now that I'm aware of what holo usually looks like. I'm far more interested in the formulas and shades from Cirque and Mooncat. Im very new to indie polish brands since for the past couple of years I've exclusively been using cremes from halal brands like 786 and nailberry which are very nice brands but I got bored of it. Im excited to discover different brands and I'm waiting on the mooncat sale and have a cirque order coming in. I thought Holo Taco was the best out of all the brands because of how the fanbase talks about the polish, even the top and base coat, but I was overall really underwhelmed by everything except for the massive bottles, which surprised me, especially compared to Cirque. I do want to explore other brands. I got a couple of Dany Vianna polishes, and I'm trying to find out where to get other indie polishes. However, the majority of the ones I see are sold out, don't have swatch videos, or just don't have enough info about these brands. all this to say i'd love see videos like beginners guide to so and so brands - what to watch out for, what are brands known for, fave top/base coat, insider tips and stuff like ppu? i have no idea what that is and cant find a video that explains it in a way that makes sense. i always see the coolest shades on people but its always something limited edition :/ I'd really just like a breakdown of indie brands like bees knees or great lakes and olive ave which is literally all the brands i know. I literally know nothing lol sorry about the rant dont know why I use comment sections like a journal or something to info dump

​@@ranyaahmed8641the brands I recommended to you are bcs they make beautiful polishes but keep them in stock for years sometimes. And Lynb has 50% off sales multiple times a year. As for the top coat I recommended, I can do dishes within the hour after applying it. Bkl and GLL, the brands you mentioned, make beautiful polishes too. But most of their stuff is LE and rarely gets restocked. PPU, is a great way to explore indie polishes too! I own several polishes bought from PPU.

Although I found this collection a bit underwhelming, I did like that they added pink smoothing base. The pink would be more flattering on my skin tone. I also liked Spyglas; however, it looks similar to an Ethereal polish that I have (Starborn). Since Spyglass isn't included in their holo royalty sale, I don't think I can justify buying it.

Holo Taco hasn't had anything to interest me for awhile now. I discovered them when they had the Christmas glitters. They seem to have gotten into finishes I don't care for much, so my purchases have been very few. Hoping they will soon come out with something that catches my eye. This collection is another pass for me. I don't like chunky glitters.

Out of curiosity (and from the perspective of someone who only recently started exploring the HT catalogue), what made it a "honeymoon" in the first place? Genuinely curious. So far to me the products seem long-lasting, well-pigmented, eye-catching-- but it's just nail polish after all. I'm fascinated by the hype that seems to exist around some beauty brands. Seems destined to disappoint when there's that much hype coming from the customers themselves. As brands grow, it's inevitable that they will expand their offerings to have collections in formulas and color ranges that aren't suitable for every single customer. Isn't that okay? I personally wasn't into the dark warmth of the space shades, nor the too-white ice creams, but I imagine some folks out there enjoy them. What made it a complete mess? No judgment, I've got no stake in this, just genuinely curious

No one is forced to buy every single release, and that's good. I for example have no interest in buying HT glitter polishes because I can't be bothered with the removal process. Still, the quality of HTs nail polish is amazing, and I get a lot of joy out of the crushed holo formula. No released nail polish can make everyone happy.
