Wow I can't believe it. I actually did the same exact experiment, only I used chameleon mica from let's resin and the first time I had air bubbles as well but when I saw that air bubbles formed after inserting the coaster into the holographic mold, I said to myself; "what if next time I spray 91% alcohol onto the coaster with a little bit of resin and into the holographic mold with resin, right before inserting the coaster into the mold?" And Wallah... it worked; no air bubbles!

I’m trying to get a clear holographic shine finish on plastic beads. But I can only find mica powder tutorials with molds. Do you have any videos about how to apply it to existing items, know of any, or could you possibly make one of it’s something you’d be interested in testing?
@lesliemayton9681 Жыл бұрын
From everything I have seen on you tube mist the coaster with 100% pure isopropyl alcohol. Also maybe run the resin over the coaster wetting it as you pour it into the mold so all of it is coasted. Put it from one end of the lines to the other & see if that helps.

How long does the holographic stay in the mold after the project?
@rutabateman89 Жыл бұрын
Can you please share where are you can get those holographic molds?
@janesavage47332 жыл бұрын
Could you pour the clear resin onto the cured wave coaster whilst in the mould so the top is flat then when it is cured enough but not hard to take out and turn upside down into the holographic mould. As it hasn’t completely cured it will take up the pattern. That way it might stop all those bubbles. ?

Wow! How did the holo effect remain over time after use?
@OntologicalQuandry Жыл бұрын
Interesting that you used a foam pad and really seemed to work the powder into the mould. I am considering using some powder and flake for a WH40K character and am researching others' experiences with the substance. Every other video I have seen uses a brush to gently apply the powder, which often leads to an inconsistent finish. Your method seems to work much better and is less wasteful. It also matches what I recall of certain home decoration shows doing with gold leaf back in the late 90s and early 00s. They said that had to be worked into the surface somewhat aggressively.
