I have never done resin before, just received my kit today. I have a tiny handwritten note my Mom wrote for me before she passed, I was starting a new project in my life and she wrote something wishing me the best and giving me her support. I treasure that little piece of paper like nothing else! And I thought of doing a bookmark in resin, and put the note there so I could have it with me always and preserve it, your video helped me avoid messing up!!! Thank you! I will practice first with something else though! 😄

@@analiaf.j.6131 I'm sorry I didn't see this. As the other comment said I would photocopy it and put that in resin. Even with practice sometimes resin is a fickle beast. I personally would never put something so important in resin. All resins will go yellow over time, years and years for some but still. It's not a great medium for preserving important documents.

Instead of sealing the printout, I paint the back of my printout with two layers of white acrylic paint (dry between layers). So despite the resin soaking into the paper, the printout does not get that grey look from light going right though it. The white acrylic on the back helps reflect the light. The photo ends up looking like it didn't soak up any resin.

Some ideas: use a craft knife instead of scissors. If your image is graphic and outlined, make a wider stroke so you can cut into it. If not, make a softer, faded edge on your image, maybe graduating it into the resin color, so the trim blends in. Or you could do that after printing, with a marker or pastel or something. :)

This was an awesome tutorial, thanks so much for showing the process step by step. I wanted to use this to turn my stickers into keychains and charms and will be using this with my sticker paper and just higher quality printer paper. I have a question though. I see that you're mixing and handling resin without any safety equipment, and have been worried about using resin for the effects it might have on crafters with years of possible handling and inhalation. Have you run into this issue? You obvi are a pro at using the resin but for a beginner would you recommend using some PPE like gloves and a mask? I always worry and have heard other KZbinrs warn about the dangers of long time work with resin. Thanks again for the tutorial, it's awesome 😎

Hi, thanks for watching. I do recommend ppe. In some of my older videos I didn't wear gloves because of sensory issues and have since found latex free ones that work for me. Resin is not especially dangerous for your health in most cases but you can become sensitized to it over time so best to protect yourself and work in a well be ventilated area, mask up etc.

You can also seal your paper before adding it to your project after the sealant dries, so u don’t have to worry so much about getting a really good seal between the paper and the resin, since the images itself is pre-sealed.. I like Liquitex matte medium for sealing.

Thank you for adding your knowledge so everyone can try a different method. I have done it this way but have had trouble a few times when part of the paper floated and part didn't or it slid to one side while I wasn't watching lol. Slippery little things.

Thank you! I'm doing a photo series of paper on wood, putting resin on top, and got wet spots that ruined a lot of them! I have been gluing them down with matte medium but was scared to paint over the top, thinking that the ink would run. So I will try heat setting the prints, and maybe not use the Matte Medium? not sure yet. Some of them turned out ok though. Maybe i was just lucky and got them glued down all the way.

Matte medium is better than mod podge as far as water content. But still thinner than tacky glue. I would do an extra layer allowing all to fully dry just in case.

You can use just about any glue but I have found this glue to work best. With other kinds of glue you will need to do some tests to see how many layers you will need to add for best results

How long did you cure the sparkle base before adding more resin? Do you feel you have to rough up the surface or no? Appreciate your time... the wife and I are new to this.
@ResinBelle
@ResinBelle Жыл бұрын
I believe it was just long enough for it to firm up but you could still make a fingerprint impression if you touched it. (prob 4-6 hours) No need to rough up just pour on top. Resin does a good job of sticking to itself.

@@MileyonDisney I've always seen crafts as an area we can come together and just have fun. No need to inject politics. All that needed to be said was that your bottle from the Dollar Tree has 3 ounces. The bottle is small so it's not surprising that someone would think that it had less. I doubt they meant any harm.
