I have never done resin before, just received my kit today. I have a tiny handwritten note my Mom wrote for me before she passed, I was starting a new project in my life and she wrote something wishing me the best and giving me her support. I treasure that little piece of paper like nothing else! And I thought of doing a bookmark in resin, and put the note there so I could have it with me always and preserve it, your video helped me avoid messing up!!! Thank you! I will practice first with something else though! 😄

@@analiaf.j.6131 I'm sorry I didn't see this. As the other comment said I would photocopy it and put that in resin. Even with practice sometimes resin is a fickle beast. I personally would never put something so important in resin. All resins will go yellow over time, years and years for some but still. It's not a great medium for preserving important documents.

Instead of sealing the printout, I paint the back of my printout with two layers of white acrylic paint (dry between layers). So despite the resin soaking into the paper, the printout does not get that grey look from light going right though it. The white acrylic on the back helps reflect the light. The photo ends up looking like it didn't soak up any resin.

Any tips from any resin artist would be much appreciated!!!
@StefanieFournier19783 жыл бұрын
Some ideas: use a craft knife instead of scissors. If your image is graphic and outlined, make a wider stroke so you can cut into it. If not, make a softer, faded edge on your image, maybe graduating it into the resin color, so the trim blends in. Or you could do that after printing, with a marker or pastel or something. :)

This was an awesome tutorial, thanks so much for showing the process step by step. I wanted to use this to turn my stickers into keychains and charms and will be using this with my sticker paper and just higher quality printer paper. I have a question though. I see that you're mixing and handling resin without any safety equipment, and have been worried about using resin for the effects it might have on crafters with years of possible handling and inhalation. Have you run into this issue? You obvi are a pro at using the resin but for a beginner would you recommend using some PPE like gloves and a mask? I always worry and have heard other KZbinrs warn about the dangers of long time work with resin. Thanks again for the tutorial, it's awesome 😎
@ResinBelle2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching. I do recommend ppe. In some of my older videos I didn't wear gloves because of sensory issues and have since found latex free ones that work for me. Resin is not especially dangerous for your health in most cases but you can become sensitized to it over time so best to protect yourself and work in a well be ventilated area, mask up etc.

Thank you! I'm doing a photo series of paper on wood, putting resin on top, and got wet spots that ruined a lot of them!
