Thank you for posting this. I'm waiting on my local dealer to get a 20 gen 5 in and I plan to run this optic as well. If I like it will enough I'm going to replace my vortex venom on my 40mos with the scs as well.

The perfect fit for the scs holosun is the glock 19 gen 5 mos size guns. The scs on the 10 mm and 45 models is narrow on slide creating a ledge on each side. The scs on a glock 19 size is flush on each side. Yes the optic sits low and you can co witness on the gen 5, 10 mm and 45 slides but the fit isn't perfect.

People run micro dots on their full size gun… it looks perfect to me on my gun so I love it! But yeah the G19/17 is the most ideal set I mean they would need to make one for those models then one for the 20/21 models etc as the slide width is a little different but the functionality of it and I feel the looks is great, absolutely love that optic so far it’s been running great. But hey lots of other optics out there for you to find your perfect combination too!

I just bought the Holosun SCS MOS-GR for my Glock 19, there are a few nice updates to the new ones. 1. It's now "shake to wake", no need to hit a button to turn it on. 2. It's now NOT "auto adjust", it has two levels of brightness by hitting the button on the side. I hope that helps, great updates to this optical site! ****it is auto adjust brightness, but you can also select bright or dim manually with side button****

I heard it’s no need to shut the SCS off just leave it on. My Battlewerx screws just came in so I’ll be putting mine on my G45. I’m not using the Holosun factory screws because I heard they have been breaking on a few owners and I don’t wanna be that guy.

I agree that Holosun is innovating and moving up in the optic world BUT Trijicon had an optic that was solar powered (kind of) before Holosun. I, for instance, have a Trijicon RMR, Model RM05 that does not require batteries. It’s sorta the same concept of the Holosun SCS. That being said, I just ordered a Holosun SCS for my G19 MOS because I LOVE the Glock OEM sights and the fact that the SCS will co-witness with factory sights. Great video! Got my sub 👍🏻

Trijicon was never solar charged. It was an etched reticle that used fiber optics. The Holosun has an internal battery and most likely a capacitor that helps charge the battery with solar panels. Trijicon didn’t innovate shit. They’re outdated, overpriced, and overhyped. Great quality, yes. But that price gotta come down.

Definitely should try one out, once you learn not to look for the dot but look at your target and the dot appears (that’s the hardest learning curve) then to trust your dot once properly zeroed, you’ll probably prefer dots over irons.

I like the SCS but its designed as a small concealed carry optic. I would not put it on a G21.

That’s your personal choice. My personal choice is it’s on my 21 also got one on my G20, and my G26. We install lots of them on G20/21. It’s designed to be an optic that fits directly on the MOS system, the walther PDP, the M&P 2.0, the VP9s. It’s designed to be on duty/compact size guns so you can do co-witness with no need to change irons. Stop in the shop in March we will have my good friend and Holosun Employee/ Sales Rep at the shop he can go over more about the SCS with you. Might help you understand it more.

@@dukessportshop I run one on a g19, it’s a great optic. I find the window to be a little small, which makes sense because holosun designed it with concealed carry in mind. It’s smaller than than 407/507. Should work fine on a g21 I would just prefer a larger piece of glass on a larger gun.

This is from Holosun The SCS-MOS (Solar Charging Sight) is a direct attachment optic for full-size GLOCK™ MOS systems. It is designed to attach directly to the slide without an adapter plate and uses our innovative solar charging system with multi-directional light sensors to automatically adjust brightness in dynamic situations. The SCS can potentially operate indefinitely using an internal, rechargeable 20,000-hour battery meaning under even moderate exposure to bright light, you will never need to change batteries again. The SCS also includes an intensity override function which locks the optic into a high brightness mode for 30 minutes and a low power indicator which warns of low battery days before charging is needed.

But to be more well blunt that would be a question to ask Holosun they have a limited lifetime warranty and the led is warranted for 10yrs. Since it co-witness I still have back up irons so I’m not really concerned but that’s my POV if that’s something that really worries you get the 508 or a RMR but that is a good question next time I do see the rep I will ask but since they saying indefinitely well that’s there statement lol

I use C&G they have light bearing holsters which goes by the light that you use the other is T-Rex Arms most modern kydex companies now make their holster fit most optics

What if my Glock is inside of a fingerprint safe and it sits for a long time in the dark. If the SCS MOS is meant to always be on, is this gonna work properly since it sits so long in the dark?

Let it recharge in some light ever once in awhile. I mean if it’s a home defense gun hopefully your out training with it a few times a month (at least) so it’s going to get recharged there. But since it fits flush no mounting plate you do get co-witness with irons so you do have a backup plan if you don’t.

Long the holster says optics ready but most of the big dogs in the holster world is just making them optics ready. Like C&G, T-Rex arms, tier 1. Really it’s the enclosed optics like aimpoint the new trijicon, Holosun 509 those might not fit on some

Ya know what that’s a good question I’m not sure on as I don’t know anyone that has one here at the shop or any of my friends we don’t carry those sights don’t see a lot of requests for it. Best thing I guess is stop in a shop and ask to try it on your gun with optic plate off (bring it in empty in a case and always ask the clerk first before pulling it out) I say this as you no idea how many times people just whip out guns on ya at gunshop… lol

No it’s solar, I belive I talked about that in the first 2 mins. It’s charges off ambient light/ or the sun. 20K hours is about 830 days so if you say take it out once every 6 months and put it by a light source it will charge that day then ya good. 20K hrs is based upon using just the green dot the circle dot will lower it more. The reticle also will start to flash when you hit 30% battery life and again at I believe 10% battery life.

I'm sure you explained it well, it's just me. So in complete darkness 20,000 hrs before dead. Otherwise it charges and you'll never need to swap in another battery. Chpws makes a plate for it but not sure why you would want a smaller optic like that on a full size gun? Your better off with SCS, 407C 508T, RMR, RMRHD, DPP SCS 320, Eotech Eflex, something like that in my opinion.

It stays on I’ve never once shut it off, so yeah man your problem is solved plus it co witness so you have your irons if you dot fails in a defensive situation. If your irons fail you can use the back plate method

Well, as someone who's required to qualify at night (leo), I run a red front and blacked out rear (but no red dot yet). I can say, I can't see shit most of the time even with my light. We only have to qual from 15 yards, but I always stress it.

@@Silidons91 I'm also an LEO for a Sheriff’s department and prior to running a red dot I ran Kyle Defoor's ameriglo all black front and rear sights at night with no issues, with an X300u. As long as you're able to see the silhouette of the front and rear sights for "equal height, equal light" that's all you need for good shot placement. And during the day, I prefer that set up because there's no distractions. At this point I would argue that white dots or night sights are pointless. Yeah they glow in the dark, but if you're not using a light to identify your target, and all you can see is three little glow in the dark dots, you should not be firing the gun because your target isn't illuminated; your sights are. Try it out. Go in pitch darkness with black sights and a light on your gun and see you're perfectly able to make a shot, then try a gun with night sights and no light. Sorry for the preach. Lol. Obviously, to each their own.
