Holosun Sleep Timer & Shake Awake Explained

In case anybody is lost: -The Sleep Timer Setting / “Shake Awake” is not part of the Auto-Manual-Lock cycle. -If your reticle is not turning on/off it is because the Sleep Timer Setting is on Setting 4 (sleep mode disabled). -To enter, press the “+” for 10 seconds, wait around 30 seconds and hold “+” until it turns back on. Now pressing “-“ decreases the sleep time and “+” increases it. Press “+” and “-“ simultaneously to save this setting now.

@@justsayin7937 Just a personal tip I picked up. The main annoyance was hitting the + button again too fast after the initial hold and it would start to adjust the brightness instead and you’d have to wait until it shuts off to try again.

That's weird. Because I moved my 509tx2 from Auto to Manual, and it wouldn't auto shut off. I just reset it to 1 blink even tho that's what it was on, so I'll see if it turns off in 10 minutes

Idk about everyone else’s model but I held down the plus button for 10 seconds then let it blink the number of times the correlate with the plus or minus buttons but DO NOT TURN IT OFF after that. Let it go off on its own according to the time you set

I have set this so many times, and it just will not sleep. Hold for 10 sec, you will get a blink about about 3-4 sec, then another at 10sec. Then I can move up or down. I want 10 mins, so I set it to 1 blink. Then it's doesn't matter if I turn it off, or if I just leave it as. It will never auto off or shake awake. That feature just has never worked for me. 3 months of trying and still nothing.

When in doubt, remove the battery, wait 30 seconds, and put it back in. Press + or - to turn on. Shake awake and 10 min sleep is enabled by default from Mfr.

@@matthewtrevino4787 Yep I sure did. I just started over. Took out battery, followed instuctions again but you know when you're suppose to gold the button for 10 sec? Well it does a flash at 3 seconds, then it does another later. thatt leads you to believe it's 10 sec, but it isn't hold it for a full 10 secs. At the end don’t press the + and - signs to “set it” after selecting the time delay. Just put it down somewhere where you can walk up to it after however long you set it for to turn off. This way whe you go up to it, and just look through it without waking it up, you can see it's off. I set my on the bed ass up leaned against a pillow. Sure enough it was off. However because the dot can be hard to find, move your head around without toching it to make sure it actually is turned off. Then if it is, pic it up and see if turns off. GL

There are 4 sleep modes: 10 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours and no sleep mode. It seems that you are stuck in the 4th mode (no shake awake). Get it back into the setting function mode for sleep and hit the minus (-) button to cycle backward to the sleep time out you want (unlike that red dot setting which cycles from auto -> manual -> lock and back again).

FWIW, the Holosun HS403B is different. Spent a ton of time on the phone with the company I bought it from trying to figure out the 10 minute setting. It is is not on that unit (or at least we couldn't find it / figure it out). The shortest setting is 1 hour. You can set it from 1 hour to 12 hours (2 hours, 3 hours, etc) or turn it off. If I'm wrong, please let me know (I'd prefer to have a 10 minute time frame)

Thanks, you saved me from some huge confusion. Just received my 512T and the manual was telling me to hold the + button for 3 seconds, which is also the instruction to toggle between solar mode and battery only mode. Good to know: on my 512T, I had to be on battery mode beforehand. This way, the 1st blink at the 3 seconds mark will switch it into solar mode, which is the only mode in which you can configure the Shake Awake. When I tried holding it for 10 seconds while I was already in solar mode, it switched into battery mode, and the second blink at the 10 seconds mark never came.

It could be that it’s in the “off” mode for shake awake, following the video should help you fix it. When shake awake is enabled, it should instantly turn on when you pick it up

That’s not good. These things turn turn on if you blow on them hard enough. See if you can return it and get a new one or warranty it yours sounds defective

Any movement will turn it on, but generally they have a 50k hour battery life on setting 6 which is basically 5.5 years of continual use

It’s up to you. They don’t come Loctited from the factory but we do hear of ppl losing them. So maybe a dab of purple Loctite isn’t a terrible idea

First thing I would try is a new battery. I’ve heard of it happening before. If a new battery doesn’t work, reach out to Holosun support and they’ll be able to help out!

Great question - Shake awake is meant to save the battery life when not in use. When you're carrying you'd want the dot to already be on incase you had to use it. If the battery usage is a concern, a lot of commenters say they swap out the battery once a year. Depending on what setting you have the dot on it should last between 20k-50k hours, which is more than enough to swap it out yearly

If it auto sleeps after 10 minutes then it is enabled. Shake awake just means the 507k will turn off the dot until you pick up the pistol then it auto turns on

If these are shake awake, then what stops the dot from being on while carrying on your body, in a bag, or bouncing down the road in a 18 wheeler? My battery sure goes dead fast.

@@keithgordon1593 it will be on in those situations. On setting 6 and on dot only it should last 50k hours. Most people have it brighter though or with the MRS reticle, so in that case I’d imagine 20k hours is normal 🇺🇸🦍

I had the problem too. I fixed it by shutting the whole unit off. Apparently, this is the reset needed to get everything working, to access the sleep mode.
