With many experiencing trauma, especially during childhood - we often hold our breath. And many have had to suppress their emotions around these diverse experiences. And as Diana says we are disconnected from our body. Breathwork helps us reconnect to our body and feelings. It’s part of a healing process that some find very helpful.

I wish that everyone could realize that we are all the guru and the healer. If we can just learn these various techniques to hack our system then we can heal ourselves. Whether it be through various breathing techniques, Micro-dosing magic mushrooms, yoga, Qi Gong, various meditations, Wim Hof method, cold showers/ice baths etc....i'm currently exploring all these methods and there's truth to them all. I'm feeling much healthier and pain free as well as much happier! To whoever reads this, i wish you peace and joy and healing. I know you CAN heal yourself. What a lovely lady Diana is, so knowledgeable and humble. I think what I understand from this is that Holotropic Breathwork is very much a facilitated healing modality, where as Wim Hof Method is very much a do-it-yourself empowerment pathway. Both great. I’d really love to try Holotropic Breathwork, but it looks like it’s going to be a long time before sessions will be running again.

This cleared the confusion for me. I feel more comfortable, and a feeling of "I'm into the session" comes to me when I inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth. I'll stick with that then! This breathing exercise helped me with my migraine issues. Maybe there was a release of the torrent of emotions from my body (I felt a lot of energy released from my body in my second session, and my sessions are not that long 40-80 minutes or so).

@quizatzhaderach30463 жыл бұрын
i did it alone few times but i think it's better with someone because i tend to stop breathing and fall into euphoric state after about 45min but one has to go further than that and having help with that is very useful..
@dougcole1842 жыл бұрын
I've done this alone. It takes time to reach the depths needed for a release of deep seated often unrealized tensions, heartaches and fears but you can get there just keep going. I've fallen asleep and woke up back up and continued breath work. So it does re we require persistence and effort.

@@quizatzhaderach3046 That, based on what Diane said, is okay. I can say this as I also feel the same and would go to sleep. After semi-waking up I don't know I feel happy, just happy. When I think of the cause of my happiness, I don't know, nothing comes over me. I feel that's how my psyche is responding.

Haven’t listened to the interview yet- impressed with this channel though and grateful ❤I found it! I started doing holotropic breath work in 2012 - it can be amazing! I restarted a couple years ago and have been having a VERY hard time with it with my Trauma Response characterized as OCPD and OCD, amongst other personality “disorders”- I’ve been having a hard time with the breathing with my perfectionism, and surrendering to the practice and being willing to do it. So if there’s others of you out there struggling with it- know you’re not alone and my practitioner has said it may not he for me unfortunately:(. My stubbornness is having a hard time with how much I’m struggling with it. I want to be able to do it as it seems it can be so helpful

I cant imagine my life without my dreams. They have lead me to such happiness. Ive had sequels but never reoccurring dreams. My mother had reoccurring dreams about a past trauma. She didn't tell me or anyone until close to her death. I wished my mother would have resolved her dream and allow the dream to ignite healing. However, I a grateful that she shared her dream with me. It was such a relief to finally understand our lifelong conflict. The unconscious mind lives in a timeless dimension. If your unconscious mind keeps sending you the same message, the timeless dimension has a gift for you.....I'd love to find out what happens when you open the gift up!

Mike, the question I would like to ask concerns the variability of one being able to hold ones breath on different days and even at different times on the same day. What accounts for such wide variations? For instance, yesterday I was just about to be able to hold my breadth for one minute at a time, over a number of sessions, whereas today, two sessions, so far, I was able to hold my breadth more or less for 2 to 2.5 minutes. Note that I do have the same exercise regime every day, and I am not over-weight. I am 73 years of age; in good health. Out of everyone in this space, you are the one that comes up trumps for me, and the most exciting thing is following the meditation after the breathing exercise. If my memory serves me right, it was covered in this podcast by the lovely lady you were interviewing.
@kasiapatoleta8114 жыл бұрын
You can hold your breath for longer if you are relaxed, if you even thinking about some problems or stress then it is shorter. Watch what you thinking about or how you feel before the breath work.

Yes what you say about Mouthbreathing - it dries out the mouth and then, it is well known, that mouthbreathers are less healthy than nose breathers (see mewing or buteyko method) Thus, switching to nose breathing is great and I will definitely do the nose breathing instead.

Did you ever figure out why you were having that recurrent dream or have they stopped happening? I have found that those types of dreams are often due to unprocessed emotions. What we don’t process during the day, our subconscious will try to process at night. Often, releasing the emotions will resolve the dream. I teach how to do this on my KZbin page if you want to check out or would be happy to do a session with you to assist. Let me know if I can be of help. Dr Matthew Barker
