These videos are so educative and entertaining. I can't wait for the next hour-long video in February 2024. I recently came to the U.S as a student - from Uganda, and I plan to visit some of these farms when I get the time. These farmers are so knowledgeable and at the same time mindful of the environment. Dairy farming is my end-goal, so, I'll strive to learn hard and fast, and do the same back home.

You should look into the Dairy Grazing Apprenticeship. It’s the only apprenticeship program in America dedicated to training apprentices to be dairy farmers. It does require at least 4,000 hours of on the job learning (2 years) and at least 300 hours of job-related schooling and instruction, but it’s worth the time and effort. I bet you will make a fantastic dairy farmer because we need more of them now than before.

I work on a 100% Registered Holstein farm. My employer once had a market for surplus heifers, but sexed semen destroyed that market. He now has to breed his lower performing cows to Angus to manage the number of heifers on hand.
