I always enjoy your reviews Jonathan! As an old comeback player, it seems I have acquired almost all of the trumpets you have reviewed. :) Olds Mendez (remarkable time capsule in rare silver plate), A Cannonball 725s (still have that one). Olds cornets... I ordered a Holton T101 a day ago before seeing yours. :/ I also have a Yamaha 734 coming from one of your neighbors in North Carolina. I have owned far more trumpets in the past 3 years than my entire history of amateur & pro playing spanning nearly 60 years. :) I blame you!...actually I thank you for the great reviews. Keep them coming.

Perry; Very good to hear from you. :) The Holton T101 can be a very good horn; the 2 I've had were both very fine players. Mine would play better than your incoming one, of course. :) (Just a little humor). Cannonball - so underrated, probably because there are few of them around. A Mendez in silver-plate, nice! And I just saw a lovely Satin/Polished Super Recording at TrumpetHerald's Marketplace this afternoon. It's causing me heart problems... :) Take care, enjoy your Holton, and keep in touch. Let me know how your Holton plays, please!

Got one of those in silver. It does tighten up around high c and the g above simply refuses to come out.

Isn't that something. I've read, by one of the plant foreman that produced these, that some do have a tight upper register. I wonder if a top Brass Tech could make any adjustments for your horn?

Jonathan great review as always. I agree - I feel that the Holton sounds slightly better than your Bach. Hard to compare that against a Strad at double the price and not see the absolute value in that horn. It really seems to be very mouthpiece sensitive. Great sound. Heather.
