The only thing stopping me from becoming Orthodox is the fact that there are no Orthodox churches for at least 400kms from where I live and I also don't drive. If I could drive I would make the commitment to go at least once a month. I grew up Catholic but the way things are explained by Orthodox priests appeals to me a lot more than the half explanations I get from some Catholic priests.

One time, a monk on Mount athos saw young men changing the bones around of a crypt. The monk realized they were angels and asked what was happening. They said they were removing the bones of the monks who were there in body but cared only for worldly things, and the angels were placing the bones of those who lived in the world but wished to be on athos and lived with humility as though they were monks. Maybe someday you will move, or a parish will be built near you. God certainly cares that you seek Him in the fullness of the Orthodox Church.

Menstruation: I'm a sensitive soul and feel like, even if I don't commit a serious sin that I'm aware of, I should not be going to communion every time it's offered. Going to communion should not be a flippant practice. My priest blessed me to abstain from communion during my time of the month. Additionally, the nuns in the monasteries are even more strict; they won't kiss icons or even anything that's been blessed during that time. Honestly, it depends on how traditional you want to be and how your spiritual father guides you. Always check with your spiritual father, even if an online priest says you can or can't do something. The online priest doesn't know you and doesn't know what you need; he speaks very generally and to a broad audience.

Ukrainian Orthodox That does not tally with the Creed: ."..I believe in the Resurrection of the dead..." Who are we to say that our bodies will not //cannot be resurrected by the Lord our Creator and Saviour. We live in the faith that we are made free of our sin by our Baptism and the Eucharist, and that we keep things 'up-to-date' by our Confession[s] and absolution[s]. And it is the Gift of the Holy Spirit that inspires us to do so.

I just heard another orthodox priest saying that women cannot receive the eucharist because it must be a blodless sacrifice. So the Christ’s blood is the only blood allowed to be “flowing”

I think a more appropriate way to frame the last one is what would make someone UNWORTHY (or unprepared) to take Holy Communion and for how long.

Just read the scriptures. I see most of these myths seem to have to do with old jewish law from which we as Christians are, thank be to God, not under. People who follow 1 of these laws (Jews) are supposed to follow all of them, and if they don't that is a very bad thing. This was explained in detail by Paul in the New Testament. I guess the best advice would be to actually simply read God's word totally. If you love the Lord you will read His word.🙏🏻

Is this correct that woman during menstruation may receive holy communion?
@NavelOrangeGazer Жыл бұрын
No, one shouldn't recieve when they are bleeding male or female because it is a bloodless sacrifice.

My spiritual father, who was a spiritual child of Elder Ephraim of Arizona, told me not to receive Holy Communion during my time of the month. I don't know where this priest is getting this from. Just like a mother is not to enter Church during her 40 s days after childbirth, likewise, we are not to receive Holy Communion during menstruation. Lord have mercy.

The Holy communion is "the Ritual cannibalism" "The New Testament jesus" in the Light of Old Testament is an impostor a Liar and some people also call him a Lunatic....And Christian missionaries believe that the opposite word for Lunatic is God so jesus is a god 😀 😄 The Book of Revelations is Based on an Anonymous Person's Dream, And in His Dream He saw (A Polycephaly) Multiple Heads Animal with Horns in and Horns out, Most probably that Dream occurred because of His excessive Eating 🍖🥩🥓🌭 and Drinking 🍺🍷🍾🍻🍸 .. How could christians Rely on such a Dream ?????

And sharing the spoon when receiving communion with other people is just a covid nightmare waiting to happen. In the Anglican Catholic Church we use intinction way and dip the body of Christ (host) into the wine (blood) so that way you're getting the body and blood of Christ all at once and it's more hygienic.

@@MargaretLangille-z8j Covid is a respiratory virus. Respiratory viruses are transmitted through the air, not from surfaces like door handles and Communion spoons. (And, btw, masks don't stop transmission because the virus particles are smaller than the weave of the mask). Besides, we Orthodox have used single Communion spoons for 2,000+ years. If the practice were as dangerous as you seem to think it is, we'd have died off by now. Yet here we are😀
