Another little detail about Blood Moon Zyra, is that some of her flowers are very reminiscent of Red Spider Lilies (Lycoris Radiata), which are a common symbol for "Death" in East-Asian media. A beautiful flower that is associated with death. Just another tidbit that ties in well with the idea of what Blood Moon Zyra is.

I dont know if it was already explained but Fiddlesticks is a Tengu and though I can understand the want for tattered clothing, it would not make sense as Tengu do clothe themselves for the sake of looking like the mountain/forest guardians they are. On the other side tho, the Tengu part feels a lil abandoned in the final design yea

I think a tengu is the wrong yokai to base fiddlesticks off of. A Gashadokuro (a giant made out of skeletons) would be an infinitely better option. It would even make sense for why he has tailored elements in its design; they were parts of the corpses that make up its body. I know Riot can’t do that because of censorship laws in other countries, but it’s better than a wind spirit that can’t do any wind magic.

Fiddlesticks being summoned by Aatrox makes me think the "suit" and the tailored parts of him are like a construct he made for the demon to inhabit, even the weapon could be provided by Aatrox so Fiddlesticks could start its massacre, on the other side the feathers being more wild and out of place would mean they are a part of Fiddlesticks influence, like his energy spilling out. Also Zed's face hole might be a reference to FAITH: The Unholy Trinity

in my head cannon, Fiddle has mild aspects of whoever summoned him. So he almost is this chaos induced and corrupted form of the cultists who let him in. I think its also an interesting take on the fact that almost every single fiddle skin albeit Praetorian and maybe a few others has him wearing something that is "normal adjacent". Base Fiddle looks like a regular scarecrow, Surprise Party looks like a weird gift rapped person thing, Guardian of the Sands is a sarcophagus, Star Guardian is the familiar and occasional bright colors. I feel like Bloodmoon does that too, from a distance one might confuse him with a bloodmoon priest until you realize too late that you were very, very wrong.

I always found funny about the female blood moon skins not actually wearing their full masks because that's also on Monster Hunter - the Odogaron set for females never use the full mask, while the male ones ALWAYS use it. Its kinda sad that they don't get to be as cool just because it will ''make them less pretty'' (ive also seen people arguing that not havin the full mask ''makes them cooler, actually'', but given the inspirations for this thematic and archetype i never took those people seriously). It shows their priority because Kalista actually uses the full mask... because she's one of the only female champions who are not focused on being pretty, so she actually manages to play out her fantasy properly. The others are stuck in having to look pretty above looking cool, otherwise why would you be giving a cool skin to a female character amirite? I find it kinda sad on Zyra cuz the idea of a Futakuchi-onna inspired Zyra skin is AMAZING... and yet the mask on the back of the head literally just looks like a headdress. Apparently even a monster that its ABOUT its deceiving sexuality cannot be imperfect.

I enjoy these detailed first looks since I would have missed so many details just going off initial viewings like Zyra’s design working so much better than we thought or Fiddlesticks looking “proper” in his splash art, and yet looks like pure chaos for his in-game model. That and Zed’s long overdue skin in this line.

In the fiddle splash art you can see in the background 1-2 figures who look like additional fiddlesticks. That makes it make more sense that he would have an actual outfit, or uniform appearance, as it appears he is a “type” of blood moon demon rather than “the” blood moon demon.

The idea for the splash art is fine, using mirror to communicate and show off what's usually can't be seen is a great solution. The fix for this is to make her back the focus and showing off the mask while her front pretty face is the reflection in the mirror. The corpse can be barely visable in the mirror too so it doesn't really compromised anything.

There has been *_a huge Mandela effect_* going in the social media posts for the bloodmoon skins across all platforms and I'm part of it too; *_I coulda sworn we already had Blood moon Zed skin but in fact we didn't,_* his literally a perfect fit to the blood moon skin-line and it's thematics, almost if not all of the popular ionian champions already have a blood moon skin by now it's baffling to think Zed has gone by without one until now - All three are great! I like how Zyras design and visuals incorporate into her design the *_haganbana a.k.a. red spider lily,_* which is a flower in japanese culture is associated with death - I really like how Fiddlesticks ult has some coded origami and seemingly ofuda paper scattering around to go along with the demon aesthetic - the Zed skin is very much over the top and I'm fine with that

I know the story that you're talking about. To summarize it, she refused to eat anything more than a bowl of rice once a day because her suitors and her new husband liked her to be skinny. But because her body was starving it grew a mouth on the back of her head and her hair gained the ability to move around like tentacles to eat when she was asleep/at night. The husband only noticed when the food started to quickly deplete and watched her when she didn't notice.

Looking at the existing Blood Moon skins I realized all of the previous ones either have no yokai inspiration, or are themed after Oni, Fiddlesticks and Zyra take inspiration from other Yokai with Zyra being a Futakuchi-onna and Fiddlesticks having at least at least one point being themed after a Tengu from the looks of pikat's artwork, which really raises the potential themes future Blood Moon skins could have for example a Braum skin that is inspired by the Nurikabe

Dunno if you'll read this, but I got some ideas again for how some of your criticisms of these could be remedied, here goes: For Zed: I think they could have leaned harder into the whole oni/demon thing by making his shredder arms into actual non-human demon claws, if that makes sense? Looks like it would be possible in a way that doesn't change his silhouette, but does change the context, moving him away from power rangers and into demonology For fiddle: its lore is apparently just that it's a demon summoned by Aatrox and not much else. With that, since we want the clothes for contrast with the wild feathers, but also don't want it to look civilized, I propose: Aatrox summoned Fiddle by sacrificing a priest(-ess?) and fiddle is in the process of erupting out of the back of said priest(-ess). And it's using the priest(-ess)'s remaining body like a puppet, hence the weird janky movements. We get to keep the clothing, it now gets a disturbing connotation as the remnants of the human that fiddle possessed, and we get major fucked up imagery! We can still keep the one crow arm, like it already pulled that out all the way. That also gives us the whole "let the audience's imagination scare itself" spiel of monster design, a la "how horrible will it look when it emerges all the way?" Anyways, those are my ideas, okay bye!

The thing about having masks on different parts of the body would be a neat Idea if it was consistent along the skins. I think Aatrox is the only exception of a male champion that doesn't have a mask on the face? Although Aatrox is technically a demon in the physical realm instead of a demon possessing a human, so it doesn't count? Still, if the characteristics of the demons are independent of the vessel they are possessing (Like I guess, since Zyra's demon controls hair no matter if it possesses a male or female body, it means that it should manifest a mouth in the back of the head regardless of gender) then it means that the mask should always stay on the same part of the body no matter who or what they possess? I just would love it it was more consistent, either all have the masks on their face, or all have masks on different parts of their body to represent the special powers of the demon itself (again, Aaatrox having it as a shoulder pad is great, even if it doesn't represent anything) Like maybe Shen having a giant mask as a chestplate to represent the armor, since he's a tank, or Twisted fate keeping the hood, but then having masks in his hands to represent that he creates the magic cards through there.

22:34 from what I know of blood moon I do agree it should have a different idea, like a punisher like demon that is more a result of resentment caused by the blood spilled in Blood moon. Were fiddlesticks becomes an amlgamation of the corpses of those passing becoming spiteful and angered spirits seeking revenge, leading to the chaos serving the character with a new contexaluzation of fiddlesticks. after reading the Sumarazation of Bloodmoon it has intersting premise reduced by parts not working well, like skins like Aatrox failing to represent the demon in base as there is no reason he should look so clean in the lore and many of the stories don't really say why any of the sociopaths wanted the power reducing alot of meaning behind the skins and reducing their impact, now realising my concept is more interesting as does more than just sciopath with demon attached to it, which is what Nightbringer skins do, aleast these skins use unique darkness, sometimes, which reading more let to me coming up with a skin concept using briar as duh blood, use of demon mythology and power control kinda. also reading Snowmoon which I like the idea, just what do they mean by "removes humanity" from ialloi it seems the snow moon cult is made to remove and cleanse whatever Demon means, Which I suppose is the more interesting way of doing Nightbringer and dawnbringer having chaos be anarchy and Order be Tyranny, having a need to see the balance in both. But the snow moon doesn't really say what humanity is being given up exactly, just "blood demon smashing you with combos? come here today at the Snowmoon suction well suck the demon outta ya! For only your humanity!!!". anyway I needed it to better use the concept of briar, the concept is a Neglected village girl seeked Accepctance, Bloodmoon cult took advantage her granting her "love" in exchange of her to gaining a demon for their own vices, being creating a monster strong enough to help take the power of the other priestesses. Upon achieving it she sees the betrayal and comes to see it is too important she cares for her self, resulting in her resisting of the Blood demon and fleeing in madened oni state, taking whatever is nearby apart. Coming to find the Snowmoon preistess Illaoi, she was granted her a seal that helps atleast control the demon inside, as briar refused to join their cult. now lost and pained She seeks to view the best reality has, while still seeking actual affection despite all of the blood the burns inside like boiling red waterfalls. The skin would lean more into the tragic aspects of Briar in Runterra that her ingame doesn't do at all to show which disappoints me, this skin recontextualizes her being a weapon as a result of being abused rather than being formed from Blood magic, the blood magic now being the demon inside of her, while better showing what makes optimstic characters so effective: what they're overcoming, them choosing Positivity Despite all of the bad. her skin has to have her have Red skin with a mask next to her face that is attached to her skin, with alot of veins pumping tosward it, contrasting her adorable unique facial structure and simple outfit reflecting her past and who she is. With some Bloodmoon cult fits as well despite her understanding that betrayal, they were the only ones who showed her kidness, even if they did lie she wants to believe they didn't, that they cared about her not just about what she could do. Upon being released the demon breaks the shrine, create two sharp knives from it's material and develops claws with the masked attached to briar's face, Bloody tears streaking down.

the way id smooth over the inconsistency with fiddlesticks design is adjust the story just a bit. he's a blood moon demon that was summoned /wrong/. he wasn't originally a chaos demon but aatrox screwed up when summoning him and now he's a screaming confused beast. explains why his weapon and clothing are too put together while keeping the same unhinged madness fiddle embodies.

Imo, Zed should've gotten legendary for this one or fiddle. In addition to that Zed should have darker colours though, bright gold doesn't go to well for Blood Moon

ok the too much cloths thing for fiddlesticks is because your looking at him as "basemodel" scare crow fiddlesticks. this is a demon that is similar to Japanese folklore fiddle, and alot of old demons represented in folklore is the traditional type clothing that they wear. it may not make sense like, " why is the demon wearing cloths?" he is a demon not an animal.

To me fiddle looks like he was a person possessed by the demon, thats why he has the outfit but is sorta malforming the host and breaking out of it, not sure if thats the intention as im just at the splash art part atm but thats what it reads like to me

I have no idea why everyone in the comments is like “ItS ObViOuSlY A TeNgU. iT HaS A BiRd hEaD!” It has a bird head and feathers and nothing else that screams tengu. All depictions of tengu have wings (big red nose and bird hybrid included). This depiction does not. Also not everyone is a mythology buff so being surprised someone didn’t get the obscured reference to a tonally unrelated creature from mythology is odd. Tengu are typically described as tricksters, Fiddlesticks is a mass murdering monster as depicted in the splash art. Tengu in all of the art I’ve seen are poised and elegant, Fiddlesticks crawls on all fours with a manic aggression. The bird motif is the ONLY thing that ties these two character concepts together. I think a better yokai to base fiddlesticks off of is a gashadokuro, a giant made out of skeletons. It fits perfectly since Fiddlesticks’ animations are built around him being a construct and his idle animation would make sense. I know Riot can’t do this concept due to censorship laws in other countries, but it’s better than the half-assed attempt here. I don’t hate the skin. In fact, I love the crow make; it makes a lot of sense thematically and it differentiates Fiddlesticks from the rest of the Bloodmoon skin line. However, you can make Fiddlesticks a symmetrical creature without his animations severely clashing with the outfit. I hear people in the comments saying that, since Fiddlesticks is actually the demon orb inside its chest, the body was built, tailored and armed by Aatrox and Fiddlesticks is just piloting it. However, that doesn’t come across in character design with it having no signs of artificial creation. TLDR: Fiddlesticks’ animations are built around him being asymmetrical and wild so him being based off of a mythological creature that’s characterised as elegant is a misstep.
