I really want a Nocturne that leans into the aspects of fear that Fiddlesticks isn't. Fiddlesticks can know that something scares you, but it can't understand why it scares you. It will repeat sounds from your trauma, but it can't find the words to twists your hopes into something horrible. Fiddlesticks is a primal impersonal fear. Make Nocturne the fear that can only come from someone who that understands your thoughts and how to turn them against you specifically.

This makes sense. Fiddle is more primal animal instinct gut terror and Nocturne is more gaslighting mind games and illusions since he's in your nightmares. Fiddle is the older, stronger demon, but Nocturne is more intimately screwing with you. Like the difference between an unknowable horror scratching at your windows and your abusive ex finding the key to your house.

I could also see Nocturne leaning into concepts like Anxiety and Doubt. He's every self-deprecating thought you've ever had, the voice whispering in the back of your mind "What if it doesn't work? What if it all goes wrong? What if they're lying? What if I'm not good enough? What if I make things worse?" Still related to fear but different from the primal gut feeling of Fiddlesticks

Gameplay wise, there is also something in the fact that her base Lux is all about casting spells that cost 6 mana, and then dealing damage with her light, where as dream version is oriented towards protecting everyone. It’s almost like she wishes she could just do good and protect those around her, when in the real world she can so easily cause destruction and war if she isn’t careful. I like the yin yang symbolism there.

Ezreal/Lux became a thing with the Aatrox reveal picture. It was framed as an expedition report from Ezreal, who collected artifacts linked to Aatrox. In one corner there was a childish love doodle of him and Lux. Someone pointed that out in the comments. Afterwards, the reveal picture got reuploaded without the doodle.

I... haven't really realized that silence part until you said it, yeah like, I realized that silencing removes the spirit keywords but yeah, the only form of permanent silence besides bandlecity's minitee (that is more of a mechanical caveat rather than an intentional mechanic) (and blinded mystic) is assigned to the Mageseekers with both 'Purify' and 'Silence and suppress'

The ezreal/lux ship started with aatroxs teaser, he was teased in an in universe QaA whew we got shown Ezreals desk with artifacts that he collected from araund the world abaut a misterius figure who later got revealed to be aatrox (it was kinda like when u could learn more abaut champions in the arcane event) and we got to ask abaut them. on that desk there was a drawn picture of him and lux and when he got ask abaut that he hid the picture. Also they got a thing for each other in almost evry universe they both a part of (usally ezreal being more head over hills), in star guardian she thinks he is cute, in battel academy she appears on his emote, they literally share a valentine skin, and cristal rose is oblivius.

As an EzrealxLux expert I can say that the ship originated because when aatrox first came out he was teased with the idia that ezreal is colecting artifacts and legends that are conected to this misterius being who is later revealed as aatrox and it was shown in the form of a desk with diferent items on it that u could ask him abaut, similar to how u could learn more abaut champions in the arcane event just in the form of a QaA. And on his desk there was a drawn picture of him and lux looking flustered, when players mentioned it he hid it and this is how it became a thing. Also in almost all alternative universes they got a thing for each other, or at least ezreal, in star guardian she calls him cute, in batel academy she shows up in his joke emote, lovestruck is literally her valentine day skin where she is paired with him and cristal rose is oblivius. They also suposedly did meet in canon at one point, at least that what Ezreals writer said at the time his VU came out, but since she left the company its hard to tell if thats still corect. Tho these cards say they at least met already.

For the tangeant on the Lux and Ezreal ship. They have been hinted at in Star Guardians as well. They had a whole story on the universe where they basically flirt the whole time. Outside of skinlines however, they have never really met. There was implications that Ezreal has a crush on her because of a doodle on his desk on the announcement for his VGU and the voiceline on Aram where his uncle asks about her. He also has a voiceline specifically for her when meeting her on Summoners rift, but he does flirt with other women ( I beleive he has a line with Xayah ). I think its meant to be all just for show tho, and -if they plan on making them a thing - hes really just flirting around because thats what a "cool guy" would do. That's the extent of the canon until Runeterra came around.

As an LoR nerd, here is my understanding of how Runeterra's economy and focus got to this place: 1) Their basic plan was respectable: the basic card economy is generous enough that everyone will have a complete collection without doing the usual exploitative card pack format and they'll make all their money on cosmetics and battle passes. After all, they're Riot. Of course they'll make their money back on cosmetics. 2) They do not make their money back on cosmetics. They just never reach that critical mass of players buying cosmetics, and thus their entire business model never comes together. This also means that the cool cosmetics never make back what it cost to produce them, thus they stop making them, thus no one has anything to buy if they wanted to. 3) A lot of money gets poured into Path of Champions as part of the general Arcane push. However, since you can't buy anything new as part of that push, it all goes into the same business model they started with: get a critical mass of people in the game buying cosmetics and battle passes. 4) Fast forward to Path of Champions 2.0, where their continued big push doesn't convert into that critical mass of paying consumers and Riot drops them like a rock because their business model has not cohered in any way. 5) The team is significantly smaller now that they've lost their PoC team and kind of panicking, so they do the only thing a small collection of card designers can do: refocus on PVP to keep the community together and maybe their business model will finally click despite having nothing to really buy. Which is bad for making money, but when your game's foundational economic principle is not doing the exploitative model everyone else uses it's hard to start. 6) We come to now. They've started monetizing Path of Champions directly, and are expanding both the mode and how they're monetizing it in the near future as they refocus back on single player. They are finally pivoting to a different business model that might actually work instead of clinging to one that isn't. Do I like that? ... Well, I'm a F2P player so I'm going to miss whatever they lock behind a paywall, but I want LoR to make enough money to offset the costs of having the lore team make all this art and setting detail instead of being a money pit. (Also the game's a lot of fun and I want it to continue to exist.)

So maybe I'm fanboying a bit here, but something I've noted about this release is that both OG Lux and Vi share the problem that they don't fit their region's theme, and Vi is being rotated back into standard. It had me wondering if Vi could be getting the same treatment as Lux here, but what would her dream self be? Then it hit me, wouldn't it be a cool piece of characterization if, despite how wildly their paths diverged, Jinx and Vi had a shared dream about Powder and Violet?

I cant ell but think that this expansion being based on dream events is a cheap way to expand the content of the game without properly addressing the implications of One Runeterra in the game. They can't erase or integrate everything the game built but still have to release new content despite not having idea of how it will work with the new lore

The thing with LoR has always been, and Still is, Money. Time and Time again have we been told, since its inception, that LoR hasn't made money. It has ONLY lost Riot money. That said, Riot Knows how important LoR is to... well, ironically the Lore of their universe and it has been a beautiful avenue for their artists to essentially "Paint" the world of Runeterra in the most vivid and stylized version they could come up with. That, to this day, is the one reason that has allowed LoR to exist, nothing else. Struggling to figure out a business model for a product is difficult, specially when one of its core philosophies is "Be fair to the end user" (monetarily speaking.) LoR is TOO F2P, to the point that it is harmful to it as a Product. This is why the layoffs had to be from the LoR team, the team was too big for what it essentially was doing, sucking money off Riot's coffers. As a business justifying this is HARD, specially to investors. Which is why now, with a smaller team, they can focus back on Path of Champions because, with a small team, riot can legit say to investors "Oh, LoR is Just a PR stunt to get people hooked on the League Ecosystem and get them to play our other games to make money that way, that's why it loses money, we're investing in PR." The shifts over time in focus for the game where essentially them trying to figure out how to make LoR a "Product" that is financially viable, and the reality was, and still is to this day, they couldn't. So now that it is no longer being treated as a "Product" but instead as a "Glorified PV" Riot can actually afford to keep it around, because they are aware of how much... life it has brought unto Runeterra's world.

What are you talking about? Garen no longer has to make any hard choices because Demacia was automagically fixed by Sylas in the mageseeker game. There is no civil war or internal strife now, and it's all sunshine and rainbows without outside intervention. That dream version isn't some impossible dream on the far side of a brutal civil war with numerous major characters with conflicting needs or conflicting desires, it's just a few years of training, growing, and integrating mages into existing organizations away. She can be the first mage of the royal guard in 3 years easy. Because Sylas fixed everything in his game. No more discrimination, just have to deal with problems like a fear demon and Noxus.

I've tried so many times to like Legends of Runeterra and Path of Champions, but the balancing and general game play I don't find fun (and it's not deckbuilding roguelite/roguelike that's the problem as I love Slay the Spire, Across the Obelisk, and many deckbuilding board games) my problem is that the base game was not designed with roguelike in mind and they just kinda slapped together something with their current designs to make it a roguelite like all the times the enemies just throw unblockable nexus damage at you and you counter that by having to get healing in some way and then the way things are impossible if you don't have enough stars or good enough items on your cards through lvls (which is I guess me just not liking the games that lean hard into roguelite elements vs trying to keep the games as close as they can to roguelikes)

The Lux Ezreal thing, if I recall, was once teased with (what I thought) official art posted once waaaay back on the old forums. I could be wrong, but if I'm not, nothing came of it afterwards, likely due to how rapidly the company was growing in those years and corporate voices pushing down on any official shipping dynamics, out of concern of hurting Lux's brand as one of the money-making mascots of the game.

Honestly, Im not happy with this lux being a dream or rather a what-if scenario. Feels kinda like a cop-out making this version of lux not an active progression of her story. This depiction would be cool if we actually had continuously evolving lore, but they brushed this cool idea aside in favour of "She dreamed it so it's real XD!" Really disappointing imo, I hope the rest of the expansion pushes the lore and the characters forward.
