`Holystone HS710 Review and Test Flight

I watched 2 other reviews; they were 10 to 20 minutes long. I saw this one took 35-36 minutes. Wondered what could possibly take so long to cover the same info. My 710 was delivered today. It's the first drone I have ever seen. I've flown fixed wing RC and a toy $60 helicopter, but had no idea what a drone would do. Your review gave me answers to questions the others did not. It was an enjoyable 35 minutes. Wish it could have been 50 or 60. You've taken my anxieties down to a minimum. Thank you very much for a completely comprehensive learning lesson.

Nice job with the video, very comprehensive. I am new to quad copters and just got one of these as my first starter copter. Christmas present. I flue it in the back yard the first day. It took me awhile to figure out that it needed to be out side to get GPS to actually fly it. Obviously a little slow but finely got it working. cant wait to get it out in a bigger space to fly it. thanks for the great review!

Great review - any advice to newbies on charging the batteries? Specifically, does the community have any advice on what power source to use for the USB end? I have used an iPhone block and after about 10 minutes of charging everything goes out. Advice appreciated. Again GREAT review - especially on handling characteristics

Hey Peter- great video testing the hs710. Do you think there is a way to get more range out of it, like maybe adding another working antenna on the other side?

Yes of course. You can protrude any antenna externally from the quadcopter to get better signal or use a parabolic dish on the remote.

The color is pretty good. It is amazing what inexpensive drones can do. And with FAA restricting us to line of sight, range isn't a big deal-breaker anymore. I mean, what good is a drone that can go 6 km if you cannot see it beyond 600m? I have a Mavic Mini and wish I had bought something else. The Mavic has a great gimbal camera but beyond that, it has ZERO features other than the obvious return to home and auto takeoff/land that any $60 drone can do. I would love to have headless mode, follow me, orbit me, etc but for $500 a Mavic has NONE of these basic features. I'm buying a Ruko f11-gim2 next. WAY better drone than what Mavic puts out for three times the price.

BIG question: y drone is not taking off. Keep having "Wifi connected but no internet" and Ophelia app also indicating NoT connected. I re-calibrated many times, but still I cannot fly i. Any advice ??

My 720g drifted and crashed it's first flight. Now the Wi-Fi connects in my phone but won't connect in the app and the camera isn't working. Can this be corrected?

Good review. I got one of these for $200 on a Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend sale, and have had a great time with it so far. No problems at all. I have a question, though: did you forget to take the protective film off the camera during some of your initial pictures? It looks very smoky/hazy, and I noticed the protective film was still on it when you were calibrating the GPS. I didn't notice that haziness on the photos/video I've taken with mine.

@@RCEscape Haha! I didn't know if I was just imagining things. 😄 I'm definitely happy with the 710 so far. It sucks that it doesn't have a gimbal or EIS, but for $200, it still flies good for me and takes great photos. Even the 4k video comes out well if you fly slow without a lot of wind, and post-production EIS is always a thing if one desires.

Not a bad drone for the price I wonder what the weird toilet 🚽 bowl was at the end? Maybe some excess wind 💨 up higher threw it off? Is it wrong that I wanted the Hawk to attack 😂👍

Hmmm...wicked thoughts huh? I tell you what, you are not alone :) lol I think the Hawk scoped it out for a possibility? I think I would have lost the battle though :) I think when it started coming back from the low voltage, it thought it saw the Hawk and panic mode took over :)

The quick remedy is to switch the gps off for a few seconds then switch it back on when it's stopped toilet bowling

Hey Peter good review buddy, i just tested this one last week and looks like TBE on this one is common, so it wasn't just my unit lol, It's got a decent range... i tested out the max distance in a seperate video the next day after my review and it topped out at 750m exactly before losing connection with the tx and returned home. It's a pity it does not have EIS built into the camera as i think it would have been so much better as a camera bird.

It seems to fly alright but I just wish that it had a 3 axis gimbal. Also when I visited the Amazon site, it said 50 minutes of flight time but I knew that the info was incorrect. Nice job Pete and have a Merry Christmas.

I flew my hs710 today n notice some strange happen but I guess it was normal but it was my fault cause I whent to fly with n extremely low batter I took wrong one when I left the house but anyway soon as I take off go out about 10 meters n and 15 meters up the drone suddenly stop then I had no control it started to fly back I thought it was flying away but then it’s stop and hover over the take off spot n still no input just hovering over my head then I notice I had down throttle so I was only able to go down while going down got low voltage alarm then drone goes bk into return home by going bk up n coming bk down now I realize the drone flew bk to me n wouldn’t let me go any further because I took of on very low battery but thing is when it came bk to me first time it was no warning no beep nothing just flew over me n hover n all I was able to do was give down throttle my point is this drone as a good safe feature

I am not sure what’s the issue I got the HS710 and even without using the remote the drone starts drifting away from me anytime I lift it from the ground. I calibrated it too so I don’t know what the issue is.

Yes it even had more than 12 gps satellites. I thought the wind was causing the problem so I flew it indoor and experienced the same problem. Maybe I should send it back and request for a replacement.

I see all these nice reviews but no new reviews as of fall 2022. I went and got one but found out this is a drone that works great with smart phone iOS or android) within 100 feet. anything past 100 feet the phone gets disconnected and is useless just like customer support. Otherwise the drone is ok to fly at your risk of more disconnects but not able to take mehh pictures, Experience is not what is advertised.
