- The scene where Harry and Marv hang Kevin on the door hook hanger, and Harry bites Kevin's finger. Joe Pesci (Harry) actually did bite Macaulay Culkin's (Kevin) finger for real, and Macaulay still has the bite scar on his finger to this day. - The shot where Kevin screams as the van nearly hits him was actually shot in reverse. - The black-and-white gangster movie "Angels with Filthy Souls" that Kevin watches was actually not a real movie. It was made specifically for Home Alone. However, it is a reference to the 1938 film "Angels with Dirty Faces". - Buzz's girlfriend was actually a BOY dressed up as a girl, since they didn't want to make fun of a girl. The boy is the art director's son! - Joe Pesci was working on "Goodfellas" at the time. Because this was a kid's movie he was working on, he wasn't allowed to swear and instead, he was only allowed to yell in gibberish. He even had a swear jar with him on set. - They originally wanted to put a mechanical tarantula on Daniel Stern's (Marv) face, but 1990s technology didn't have the money to make a convincing one. So they decided to put a real one on Daniel Stern's face, but he wasn't allowed to scream with the spider on his face (Otherwise the spider would've got scared and stung Daniel in the face), so Daniel mimed his scream and his real scream was added in post-production. Also, in most of the scenes with the booby traps, Daniel Stern was wearing rubber feet to keep his feet warm while walking in the snow. The ornaments he steps on while climbing in through the window are made of sugar glass. The nail that Daniel steps on on the tar-covered stairs is made of rubber. - No, Joe Pesci (Harry) did not get his head blown by a blowtorch. Since there was no CGI, the crew used a very interesting technique that was used for a long time in theatres, amusement parks, etc. They used what's called the "Pepper's ghost" illusion, where they set a mannequins head ablaze, and then they use mirrors to superimpose the image onto Harry's head. ;) - Fuller, Kevin's cousin, is Macaulay Culkin's real-life younger brother, Kieran Culkin. Which fact did you enjoy? I can't believe you've guys never seen Home Alone. It's one of my 6 ALL-TIME favorite Christmas movies. That movie is inside my heart! Good reaction, by the way. 🤩😍😚🤗☺👍👍👍

Historically, royalty usually had separate rooms. When the king wanted to get freaky with the queen, he'd visit her bedchamber. Queens often had separate castles, estates or halls that they'd visit for weeks or months at a time. So, while they were married and were surrounded by entourages, kings and queens often lived alone in the sense that they wouldn't always see each other.

A few facts for the film: John Candy completely improvised the story of leaving the kid in the funeral parlor, The nail was rubber, The ornaments were sugar, The house is a few miles down the road from the one used for the film Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. If you slow down the film when Old Man Marley hits Marv you will see it is actually a young man stand in to do it properly, The studio was going to just use the original recording by Mel Tormé singing “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, but he asked if he could come in a re-record it and he did,

Here's the insane thing about all those death trap stunts toward the end: the stunt guys did literally everything you see with only minimal padding. This movie didn't have a blockbuster budget for wires and complex setups, and blue and green screens were still years away from being commonplace, so they just went for it.

I love Williams' score as Kevin races from the church to prepare his home against the burglars. In fact, my favorite part of Home Alone is from the moment he enters the church to the dinging of the microwave oven after he boobytrapped his house. Robert Blossoms acting as the neighbor brought out the true heart of the movie. Funny how the director worried if audiences would sit through that scene because it's so different in pace and tone and it winds up being many people's favorite scene.

The most impressive thing, to me, isn't the fact he survived and stopped the burglars, it's how he cleaned up that mess in that short of a time period. Loved that you reacted to this! Home Alone 2 is also ready good! Home Alone 3 is enjoyable. The rest are not good. There's 10 kids. Kevin has 2 sisters and 2 brothers. The other 5 are his cousins. The cousins, aunt and uncle are just visiting to go on holiday together.

The McCallister house is two different locations. The exterior is a real house, the interior is a set built in a high school gym. The flooded basement set was built in the school's swimming pool. The same gym also hosted the interior of the Bueller home in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. The production spent over $100,000 on fake snow, only to have it all covered with real snow.

Pleased to see that you both enjoyed it for it's Christmas feel and funny moments with the inept thieves. The 2nd one is roughly the same really, the 3rd one goes downhill a bit, but the 4th and final one takes a real turn character-wise! Caulkin was considered too old by then, but he went on to do the Richie Rich film after them. For a film funny-wise to react to at just about any time of the year - you both really need to watch "A Baby's Day Out" . . . It's a rib-acher! This time with very inept kidnappers though . . . No matter how many times I've watched it, it knackers me up completely! Hilarious laughter, finding breathing hard as your laughter takes over, and then at the end you need to rest just because your ribs are always aching from it . . . Enjoy . . .

I love this movie so much, and being from Chicago, love that the "Home Alone" house is still standing here. The outside shots were filmed here in the Chicago suburbs and the airport is O'Hare airport. I also know and have been to the church in Oak Park where the outside and inside scenes were shot. My high school choir sang there a few times as well back in the day. Brings back so many memories.

Same. I'm 34 and as far back as I can remember I remember watching Home Alone and Home Alone 2 multiple times a year (sometimes not even during Christmas season). They are just feel good movies that carry a lot of nostalgia for me. It's rare sometimes to find a movie you enjoyed as a kid and still love as an adult. Like when I was kid I didn't really understand about the neighbor and him being estranged from his son, but now as an adult I get it. And I also get to see my nieces and nephews discover this movie and now they will say lines from it too.

Yes, there are just two real Home Alone movies, the others just took the title to sell, but they're not about this family anymore. Nothing to do with this. I have never considered them part of Home Alone movies. You should definitely watch the second one too, it's the same formula and same family, same actors, it's about the next Christmas after this one. Personally, I think the second one is better, but they are both great, funny and there is also a character like the old neighbour too, you would like it. Also, the director and of the two Home Alone movies directed also the first two Harry Potter movies and both Home Alone and Harry Potter movies were also scored by John Williams.

As much as I'm shocked you guys have never seen these movies, it's great to see someone new enjoying them after all these years. 🥰 I would definitely recommend Home Alone 2, it's similar to the first but on a grander scale, it also has a great feel to it. 🎄 All the John Hughes films are worth a watch, he was great at comedy's that delivered a heart warming message. Top films would be Uncle Buck, The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off...
