Great job! We have a heterogenous home network with both Mac and PCs so I can see this being super useful for those PCs. I can also see a use case to get alerts when I'm using my Oculus Rift so I'll see about finding a way to make that work, too. Love your channel.

Excellent! That sounds like an interesting use case for sure. Thanks for watching and subscribing!

Thanks for sharing, this is the only guide which really explains the HASS Agent setup and usage very clearly.

Is this compatible with nabu casa? So that I can access the pc device entities remotely - as we are accustomed do doing?

I have successfully sent notifications from Home Assistant to my computer, including using some random image I found as a test... but I can't figure out how to include a still frame from my ring doorbell. Any advice?

This is a great utility. I use it to show people when I'm in an online meeting too. Is there a way to make this work remotely? That is, when you take your laptop off your home network?
@mostlychris2 жыл бұрын
You need to be access your local network with something like Tailscale or another solution. Either that or open ports in your firewall and set up DNS, etc. I'd go with the Tailscale option. I've got a video on that if you are interested. Check my remote connection playlist.

This works really well! Do you know if there is one for Linux/Ubuntu? I can't get System Bridge to with Ubuntu/HA.
@mostlychris2 жыл бұрын
I don't know of an alternative for Linux. This one specifically states it isn't built for that OS.

Excellent explanations! even went to look at one of your MQTT installation video's to help me out (i still needed it). Unfortunately hass.agent can't possibly connect to mqtt. mqtt explorer succeeds just fine so that confirms the docker is installed correctly. the agent just cannot for some reason :(
@mostlychris2 жыл бұрын
User and password correct? I run hass.agent on two PCs and they both work ok with MQTT.

@@mostlychris thanks for the reply. i dove into it again, and i seem to have missed the fact that the port number was another input and i also put the port in the server address field.

I don't get it? My HA is running on a raspberry pi like most people and I have setup and added all my devices (and built my automations) using my Windows based PC. So, I have complete control of my HA in a Windows tab. What am I missing here Chris?
@mostlychris2 жыл бұрын
Not missing anything. Just another way to get notifications and control your PC via HA. I use it specifically for notifications from my cameras as pop-ups from the Windows notification center. Handy while I spend all day on the PC for work. I also monitor my battery capacity on my laptop so I can manage it better.

Is there a way to trigger something when an app is opened? Like a Chrome window (with a specific UR), or other app
@mostlychris2 жыл бұрын
Hey Marco. I'm not sure about that. Check all the local sensors and see if there is one there for application window or something like that. I haven't tried it.
