In this video Paul, a retired luxury home builder, gives us a tour inside and out of his Ford Transit 3500 Ext DIY camper van. This van is over the top with a full shower and toilet in the back, two center twin beds in the middle and a front kitchen galley. Highlight features include: Mini Split residential air conditioning with heat pump, lithium iron phosphate batteries, inverter system, power shades, movie projection, engine/domestic water heater and leather seats.

@@paullehto1823 I have watched hundreds and hundreds of van videos and I'm telling you that your van is by far the very best one I have ever seen. It's beautiful and all of the extras such as the electric bed, the electric blinds and your bathroom are absolutely perfect! I often dream of hitting the road and living full time in a van once my youngest son gets out in his old. He's 15 and the youngest of 5. I'm not sure if I can make my dream a reality but if I can I would love a van similar ( well, exactly like lol) yours. Best wishes and safe travels to you and your wife 😊

Wow, this is the best van conversion that I've seen! It's well thought out & designed. You thought of everything. I'm like you, I really don't want to work or rough it when on vacation or traveling. Love that shower & the dry bath. Love the power shades & movie screen. Those beds are genius, the elbow room you added in it is great. Having the head of the bed elevate awesome.. Love that your wife can drive it too, because I would want to also. As a nurse I can say that your wife if right about being careful with your drinking water. I am impressed.

Love the van, and all the creature comforts - except for your wife’s bed. Her’s doesn’t elevate and is a pain to operate. Why do men always make sure they are comfortable, but their wives don’t get the same consideration?

Absolutely brilliant, the level of innovation is tremendous. I really can see myself duplicating his process to a large extent. I especially like the fact that he limits holes in the side and the roof. Hats off to this build. I was in the building industry for 40 years and clearly this gentleman knows what he's doing. I realize hundreds have said it before but I'll say it again...this is one of the best van build's I've ever seen. LOVE that the two bed are permanent and not some dinky 'dinette' no one can realistically fit into and can't move around in. Also, this build is perfect for those solo travelers who don't need both beds and have big dogs or multiple dogs...the dogs can hang out on the other bed. The bathroom? FABULOUS. This designer designed for the driver. Bravo! And I realize he's said in a few comments he doesn't want to start building for others...but maybe you can get him to reconsider......the van world needs him! Thanks for sharing. Ever hear phase, form follows function, when I was at UConn civil engineering, I took architectural class and learned that good design must frist be functional, and then make it pretty. All the things I did make my van life more functional. Bath was the most important thing for my wife, me was a bed - couch that I could enjoy rv and snakes

Probably the most practical and comfortable layout I've seen! Love the bathroom. And he did something I've thought of but have never seen anyone else do: remote control shades! Windows are great, but having to run around and close them all for privacy would be a pain, especially in the bigger RVs. Can't wait to see the next van!

Great van build from someone in my age group. I agree that one doesn't want so many chores. I'd love to see a build where someone doesn't have to sleep over the battery bank. I don't think the paneling goes with the rest of the decor but it's not a deal breaker.

Lithium’s need to be in heated area, can’t be charged under 32 f, vans battery chemistry are safe unlike Tesla or phone batteries. The paneling is attached with beau clips and easily be changed to suit. I frist did them in white and it looked like a hospital,

Finally well designed storage! I see so many people put the batteries in the most accessible storage and have to dig their consumables out of every corner. This guy put the guts in the floor access & hard to reach areas - there’s access, but the amazing 6 drawers are all accessible daily use storage. As someone who lives small but hates chores, I think this build reflects a lot of smart choices. Loved the details for the mini-split & the shower recirc too. The Lagun table that docks over the counter is also great.

I love the bathroom! I would want this bathroom in mine. He did such a great build out of this Van. I would like a shorter Van for myself, so the fact that he is working on a shorter Van is great! I really want to see his next one. The whole time I was watching this video, I kept thinking he should have the beds flip up or move up towards the ceiling. I can't wait to see what he does for the beds in the new one. I love the mini split a/c - heater. I had never heard of one of those in a Van. I’m trying on next build to have same comfort ( usable space) as this van in next size shorter transit so it’s more Mobile. Beds will tilt up if you want to carry bikes, motorcycles, work tools, pick up Xmas tree etc. kitchen and bath expand out when in use. AWD and off road tires with 2” lift will allow off road use

Add 800 watts of solar if you camp long periods of time without using engine alternator to charge batteries . There’s plenty of roof area without a/c on top

Appreciate this fella's fresh ideas like the showering system, mini split, ikea finds and no solar panels and still having power. Wish there was another way to mount the outdoor part of the mini split!I wonder if more vents in the back door and at the side of the van so the unit gets air... Any way just love the idea of mini split in the van. Thanks for the tour!

Agree, having to leave back door open to get a/c is huge drawback. There are very many complaints about a new van that requires rear door to be open, to get city water hookups. Maybe put a/c underneath, where spare tire lives, and put conventional spare tire holder on rear door. Would keep the van stealth, rather than having a/c unit mounted outside of back door, as I have seen before. Maybe dismiss theory,, 🤔 that vents can't somehow be cut into door and side of van, as you suggested. If that were the only obstacle for Space X, I bet Elon would FIND a way to get more ventilation, and not leave hatch door open. Otherwise, van wins best of show, except maybe a flip down flat screen, 📺 for better picture quality.

Mount the mini split higher behind the back window and have a glass window that opens and vents out so you can have the door closed? For his build he might need a power open for the window so the can open it from inside.

Yes, love the idea of the quiet A/C (mini split), but would hate leaving the door open. I bet on his next build, he has a better idea! My only other dislike (and I understand he didn’t want unnecessary “holes” in the body) is having all of the outside connections so low to the ground and basically under the van. Too hard to get down there for some people. I love how they have handled this on the new Winnebago Ekko. Another thing I would consider is a self-contained type toilet (cassette, etc.). I would also NEED a larger frig and TV. But this is THE best VAN build I’ve seen.

The his and hers space is a great idea! They can be cozy and cuddle if they wish, but given that two people are in a “small” space they can each spread out - leave a book sitting in their spot, or cup of coffee, a t shirt, a tablet, hobby work - whatever. And they aren’t taking up “community space”, so to speak. It’s all quite beautifully done.

You can make beds into one large bed, need additional cushion, not easy to get to bathroom in the middle of night, this way I have 10” to get up without waking my wife
