Home cold water tank noise solved.

The ball cock valve is the culprit which should be changed because maybe because of age or worn out washer. In some cases the valve contains dirt, a washing out will do the trick, but evidently changing the whole valve has its advantages.

Had a new tank with new ball valve fitted. And it humms just ast valve closes. Any idea

Sometimes or could be pipe rattle as there might be air in there. You can solve it by putting something behind the pipe to secure it. I had this problem also, that there could be dirt in the valve which may of come from out of the opening of the pipe. Even when I replaced the valve for a knew one it still made a sound, the above solution could be it. Or maybe the valve is just beading into the pipe which means the sound should smoothen out after a while.
