Hey! I live in an old Berlin apartment building with very noisy pipes, especially these two external metal hot water pipes. I was wondering what I should use to muffle the noise? Can i put the car sound deadening material on these metal pipes? Or should I use something else? Sound is driving me a bit crazy...😅

How about solutions to fix the problem causing the noise? Like clearing air in the pipes or making sure washers on the valves are good?

I had a water hammer at my old house. It was miserable.. sounded somewhat similar to a generator...the vibrations. We had to call someone and they traced it to a water regulator for one of the evaporator cooler

Interesting! Thanks for sharing!

I did too. I installed those water hammer arrestors and they helped, but not totally. I heard it the worst with Samsung washing machine because their valves are solenoid controlled to shut on and off instantly, rather than somewhat gradually like others. Puts a lot of shock in the lines.

green glue between drywall layers will help minimally mitigate as well

Very very minimally.

I don't mind the sound but I am more paranoid about the pipes bursting eventually. Can that happen? I live in a condominium and when I turn off water, I can hear a loud sound where the HVAC is

A drain pipe isn't going to burst, it's not under pressure. The water line can burst though.

What about a sound by the tub that sounds like a trombone, going down then up, & then the water just cuts off???

I have banging noise when I using the shower head, and sometimes when there’s no noise if someone open one of the faucet banging noise come on right away

It’s called “water hammer”! It’s air bubbles in the pipes and when the water hits it, it makes a banging noise that you’re hearing. An easy way to fix this would be to turn on all of the faucets starting with the highest point like a bathroom faucet, and then working your way down to the lowest faucetAnd then turn off all the faucets letting the water drain. That should clear it up if it’s not a water pressure issue where you would have to lower the water pressure on your gauge.

What if the pipes burst.

BS, I’ve tried all of this except the car insulation but I’m sure it won’t work that’s what I believe, it’s expensive to do whatever you do
