My personal defense/camping scattergun is a Mossberg 590A1, Vortex Venom red dot, Surefire forearm with Surefire light, 6 round sidesaddle, 3 point sling. I do the traditional slug/buckshot/slug loading. 3 buckshot/3 slug on the sidesaddle. Lot of bears most of the places we camp in Wa, ID, and MT.

Great video that's almost exactly how I'm setting up my benelli Nova tactical, one thing I tried and am going to continue using is a vertical foregrip on the pump. I fired 100 rounds of high brass buck/slug yesterday and found the recoil to be much more manageable, especially with 3 1/2" shells. It also made my follow up shots smoother and quicker.

Thank you. That’s cool and interesting. I ran a foregrip on a ksg but haven’t really tried on anything else. Thanks for watching

@justindunlap123510 ай бұрын
@@Will-sk9oj 2 3/4" 00 buck has 9 pellets 3 1/2" 00 buck has on average 15 pellets. More pellets=more holes=faster blood loss/ more energy delivered to the target. Plus the longer ejection port of the 3 1/2" guns means it will eject shorter shells extremely reliably.

@@Will-sk9oj in reality though I keep it set up with Hornady critical defense 2 3/4" 00 buck that shit patterns so tight it will stay on a torso plate at about 30 yards. The 3 1/2" shells are mainly for hunting.

Hey my Brother, I'm just giving some Intel on my (New ) setup. After watching this video a few weeks ago, it really made me realize and rethink my own set up. I've got field medical training, and I stay up-to-date on training. Thus ,I'm good to go on this. But you opened up the reality of a ( Need Med Now ), issue ,by having just that one piece of equipment. Tourniquet !! So with that knowledge, I renewed my opp. Running now with a minimal Med Kit + Tourniquet mounted on Buttstock. This is absolutely such a great piece of Intel . Why would you not want a 2 point sling? Single point slings are retention only. 2 and 3 point slings are retention as well as stowage when you need to work with your hands, not to mention some can hold extra rounds.
@michaelsorenson38873 жыл бұрын
I'm a year late to this comment, but for anyone else, some feel that a 2 point sling (that attaches at the front end and and the stock) can get grabbed in with your "pumping" hand, causing you not to be able to pull the forend back, and dont want to have to worry about overcoming that possible interference Your mileage may vary

@WeaponsJunkie11 ай бұрын
I love the 590 good pickup. Look as the sling as the holster is for a pistol, the sling is for the long gun. If you need to go hands on with someone,pick up a small child and run, etc etc you can sling your long gun “holster it” and it’s still on you, you don’t have to drop it, so you’re always ready for the fight. Nothing will work besides a 2 point sling, let's see how well that single point works if you need to take both hands off the weapon and give assistance to someone, or move real fast, or get in a struggle, not a very good option unless that is all you have. If you can't use a 2 point then you just don't know how to use a sling.

I’ve trained quiet a bit with a single point. I appreciate your dissenting view, but I suggest some training with a reputable company
@Icybones0002 жыл бұрын
@@WeaponsJunkie no reputable company will ever say a single point sling is ever better then a 2 point period, unless they are just trying to be tacticool. Single point has its place, probably in airsoft. I can do everything with a 2 point that anyone can do with a single point and so much more. Not trying to discouraged you, each their own but if you want to hinder yourself that all on you.

Why does everyone put a sling on their home defense shotgun. What's the rational besides freeing your hands? I'm hesitant to put a sling on my HOME defense shogun. If I need it, I'm going to need it in a hurry from where it's kept, close to where I sleep. My concern is that it's just one more piece hanging off the gun that could get snagged on something, hampering its rapid deployment. I don't plan on clearing rooms in my house, just the one I'm in. I'm not looking for the fight, just defending myself from one when it comes to me and ending it quickly.

If you don’t have family or kids and it’s just you then it may not be necessary. If you had to grab a family member or kid or drag an injured person then having a sling could be invaluable. There are several scenarios where one would be very useful for a home defense gun. Come out and take a class sometime with those trainers I suggested, it will really help expand the thought process as it did for me. Thanks for watching

Why a sling, if you happen to get into a physical confrontation they won't be able to take your own weapon off you and use it against you. That's one good reason to have a sling attachment to you and your weapons.

Put a sling keep on it. Quite a few companies sell them. Warhorse has some cool ones. i made my own with shock cord.

sorry man.. you lost me at single point sling. due to the weight of shotguns and the love of my own junk it's a no go for me.

I would run a pump gun in a training class. It will make sense. I’m down with protecting the junk. Lol. A sling is like the holster to your pistol. Thanks for watching

💥 My shotgun carries nine (9) shells, with each shell containing 10-15 pellets (depending on size & load). In my case, that's a potential total of 90 to 135 #3 buckshot pellets fired at the bad guy(s). I just don't see a great need for a side saddle or bandolier carrying extra shells for "home defense."

I hear ya. After all the training classes I’ve taken and when we download and get some people sharing actual gun fighting experiences. No one ever said I’ve got too much ammo, but have heard the comment multiple times I wish I had more reloads. I take what Clint Smith said to heart, I want ALL THE AMMO 😂😂😂😂. Thanks for watching

A shotgun would not be my first or second choice. More of a "i don't have anything else" last resort. (or I thought Biden was smart to suggest it)

The thing I appreciate about a shotgun for home defense is the ability to not over penetrate. I prefer an AR for most situations. However I’ve taken 3 different shotgun training classes and was wowed at home versatile a shotgun really is.

Do u use.the 1 1/2 " shells & do you think they are reliable for self or home defense ?😃 Trump in 2024 God bless the USA / GOD BLESS THE IDF 🤠😺👍🙏🙏

I have a video on mini shells. Not enough data for me. I prefer to have full power shells. I do have a front door closet gun loaded with mini shell slugs but it’s not the primary home defense shotgun. So yeah I guess in the proper range of distance I’m trusting the mini shell slug. Lol. God Bless!

Home defense? What are you expecting with that belt and bag of shells? The last siege of “ I Am Legend”?
@WeaponsJunkie4 жыл бұрын
🤷🏻♂️ hopefully not. But I like the grab and go aspect of the bag. Just like I like to have extra mags.
@CSUnger4 жыл бұрын
Would a bag be more accessible than a bandolier?
@WeaponsJunkie4 жыл бұрын
The bag shoulder strap has a “bandolier” I have taken a shotgun training class. We shot 1,000 rounds in 2 days. I used a bag similar. A shotgun needs to be fed. That’s the training aspect.

I’m sorry you were distracted. I hope the information was valuable aside from that. Doing this as a public service with ZERO financial gain there will be some things people won’t be happy with.
