This video takes me back, built one with my Step dad about four years ago and I still have and cherish it I also built a yellow saber staff last week
@qazxl1237 жыл бұрын
Just completed mine, it turned out great. I made a hilt-only Lightsaber were I can’t attach a blade. Here’s how to make it slightly better and cheaper if you don’t want a blade. Keep the “junk parts”. Use the chrome circle at the end of one of the junk rods as an activator button instead of a screw. Use epoxy to keep it in place. Wrap electrical tape around the hole at the end of the assembly. Put the plastic end piece on first, then the metal end piece, it will give more of an Obi-Wan feel. Also if you want a blade plug so kids won’t see inside the saber, use the blue chrome sink plug and slide it gently into the end, the o-ring will keep it in place. I epoxied some large hex nuts inside the actual saber so that when a let little kids hold it, i would fell like a real saber would. Overall, I loved you tutorial and it made a beautiful saber. Thank You.
@qazxl1237 жыл бұрын
Also, to make the hilt-only saber heavier, I put 2 C batteries into it from the top, then put some paper towel in the saber and put the saber plug in which will hold the batteries in place

Quick tip on the 1/4" washers - I found that a 3/8" black nylon washer works really well instead of the 1/4" metal washer. The 1/4" metal washer can be hit-or-miss on fitting in the hole. The 1/4" nylon washer is too small but the 3/8" works nicely. The 3/8" nylon washer has an outside diameter of 5/8" and inside diameter of 0.380. I also used a 1/4" carriage bolt (with 1/4" cap nut), instead of the #10-24 x 2" machine screw. The benefit of the carriage bolt is that the head is smooth - no drive slot in the head (where you put your screwdriver to turn). Worked out great. Thanks again for this great how-to video. We built 2 of them, one with yellow and the other with blue electrical tape grips (kid's choices). Looks great! Happy to post pictures in the appropriate place HappyTrooper.

@HappyTrooperDotCom9 жыл бұрын
+TheLocutus70 Hello, I will put the Kyly Ren saber on the to-do list :) It may just be the hilt...I'll see what I can come up with. Good luck on the build! On the pop-up sink drain saber, I hope you were able to see the messages about the 1/2" coupling. I made a mistake and showed the 3/4" coupling...it should be 1/2" coupling. Or...you can just skip the coupling and use friction tape to fill in that gap.
@TheLocutus709 жыл бұрын
I was gonna try it myself but I have now idea on how to do it.
@HappyTrooperDotCom9 жыл бұрын
+TheLocutus70 Are you talking about the place where the coupling goes? You can probably skip the coupling, just place the PVC "blade" inside the hilt, mark the "blade" where the gap is. Pull the "blade" back out, and wrap some friction tape around that spot until it fits snug in the hilt...no coupling needed :-) AND the blade is secure.
