Thank you for the info, I had my charger fitted yesterday and didn’t know which end to plug in first. Great video. 👍🏼

Good to see your here again. We decided to use a granny cable until we can get an electrician to do a safety check on our house electrical system. Fortunately our garage has a separate cut-out supply to protect the house system. No long journeys at present means slow charge is adequate. Take care and stay safe.

Awesome that you can both have space for the cars to charge!

Great video. We are looking at EV's and apparently Audi set you up with a PodPoint so this was good info

@@PlanetSavingNovice Ooo a reply! I totally wasnt expecting that. Awesome.😀 As it happens I have literally just watched your video when you both went to Tescos to charge up! Great informative stuff. Keep up the good work. I feel there is so much to learn with all this stuff.

Thanks for sharing I was wondering how these installs go.

I would’ve thought that the lock is quite unnecessary, are people really going to park on your drive and plug-in? It would put me off charging my car if I had to unlock the device and then find the cable et cetera. I am having a charger fitted at the front of my house with a tethered cable, probably be a queue of people waiting to use it! Still good luck to you and happy charging!

I’ve just subscribed! Hello, can you confirm whether your 24kW leaf (3.3kW) charges 10 miles per hour? Also can you tell me how many miles you got every hour with the Granny charger? Is the granny charger safe enough to use for 8 hours plus? Thanks 😊

Hi. What’s your experience after having it installed for a while now? We’re waiting for ours to be installed as it comes with the car from Audi. I’m worried through because the app has terrible reviews
@PlanetSavingNovice2 жыл бұрын
Hi mgnoodle, thanks for your comment. The charger has been great. I personally don't use the app to charge my nissan leaf. My wife refers to the app more as she charges her company car but I generally have no need to refer to the app to charge my car. Hope that helps a little, Tina

Looking fwd to getting my first EV and home charge point in the next few weeks. So order of connection is charge point first then the car. Is there a correct order of disconnection?
@PlanetSavingNovice3 жыл бұрын
Congratulations on your first EV! I'm know you'll love it! 😃 I do the same in reverse. Disconnect from the car first then the charging point. Enjoy!

i dont worry about locking mine off as they would have to be here for so long to get so little out , Are you going to use a night tariff ?
@PlanetSavingNovice3 жыл бұрын
Hi Rodden, thanks for your comment. We do have a night tariff which to be honest I use more for the trickle charge but it nice to have a couple of options now 😃

When the time is right you will know. I waited until my previous car was beyond repair to take the leap but everyone's circumstances and reasons are different. Sorry to hear about your redundancy but it sounds like you are a great help to your mum 😊👍 look after yourself, Tina

Take it if chose to offer your charger on Zapmap you'd just leave unlocked. How much quicker will Leaf charge compared to the Passat. Saves you going to Tesco again.
@PlanetSavingNovice3 жыл бұрын
Hi Alex, thanks for your comment. Zapmaps isn't something we've considered tbh, the drive is so narrow I would worry about others trying to navigate it but ultimately yes, if we were to offer it we would leave it unlocked. That is a good challenge re charging up the different cars and not one we've tried yet. I'll have to put it in the 'to do' list 👍thanks

@@PlanetSavingNovice Probably if lend drive out want CCTV and Public Liability insurance so maybe not. Where's your nearest Instavolt out of curiosity. Say this as when considered an EV worked out can buy lot of Public charging for price of a wall box.

Mine failed after 2 days. Would charge for 2 min and go red - have to use the granny charger, takes a while to charge a 90+kWh battery...
@PlanetSavingNovice3 жыл бұрын
Hi Max, thanks for your message. Sorry to hear it broke, what a shame. Were you/are you able to get it mended? Thankfully mine has been ok but I tend to switch between the fast and granny chargers depending on the need for the charge I.e nip to shops is generally last minute as opposed to travelling to work.
@mmazourov3 жыл бұрын
@@PlanetSavingNovice the PP folks ran a test and said it's an "energy clamp" (? or power clamp) fault. Asked for photos and said they're going to get back to me with a solution. Still waiting for a response. They have changed the settings for the charging point, so I can charge, but at 3kwh max.

@@PlanetSavingNovice update - apparently they forgot to switch on a function that allows the charger to be used with solar panels. All working fine now.

I also have the same charger also 7kwh, my one has a 7.5 meter tethered cable, because I can't be asked to open the boot, take cable out of bag, install into car and charger, can you imagine doing that when it's contantly raining nonstop lol, when mine car is charged I just wrap the wire round the unit after locking the charger to prevent unauthorised usage, Im shocked with the amount of people that have very little knowledge about electric cars etc, I'm an ANORAK, I also have solar panels that I sometimes use with the 3 pin charger to try and get a bit free charge in my car, but unfortunately we have so much stuff already plugged in the house that I get only very little savings doing that, my solar system is only 3.5 kWh
