Did you notice that the light from the windows shone through the singers? It was like the guys were spirits. A very powerful song, especially now with what is going on in Ukraine.

I love the original by Dire Straits, and was so happy when Home Free did this cover. The song is so amazing, and now we're blessed with two very special versions of it. Thanks for doing this reaction for us, Sarah. It was perfect.

Home Free brought a wonderful level of respect and solemnity to their rendition. Much thanks to Club of Five for basically giving Home Free their arrangement to perform. Respect to Dire Straits, the original artists, as well.

Such a genius touch to show the silhouette of the fellas in front of the window. I know some see it as a "ghost"y reference but it strikes me as a reflection of the POW/MIA flag. We'll never know just how many of those met the same fate as the soldier of this song. 😥

I feel the same way about the window shot it reminds me of POW/MIA flag as well from the first time I saw this video...USAF Vet

this has even more meaning, especially the last line, "We are fools to make war on our brothers in arms" with what is going on in the world right now, and seeing the barberism of Vladimir Putin....Glad you listened & it made you feel real emotions....it's a sad time we are living in right now

Agreed Kevin it's like the great Britain waging war on us or us on them that would never happen however Putin is a self centered prick and really doesn't care about his people. I pray for the people of Ukraine and Russia to resolve this.
@miamidolphinsfan2 жыл бұрын
@@patrickhumphreys5851 one thing that been clear to me, is the majority of people in Russia, are not even happy with this -- this is all on Putin & I'm not blaming the Russian people. Hopefully like others he will take a downfall and be brought to justice soon !

I cry everytime I here this song. My grampy wasin the 2nd world war and cripled. My dad was in the korian war and I was in the Canadian air force. we have seen friend die and this song brings all that home again. I have been in 22 diffrent countries. some ok some hell no. My worst encounter was when me and my master corple were doing a perimater walk. We runded a corner and a kid maybe 5 or 6 years old was there pointing a german luger at us trying to pull the trigger. we both dropped and upped our FNs when we realized he cound not pull the trigger.who ever gave him the gun didnt calk it for him and he wasnt stonge enuf to calk and fire the weapon. we found out after that they gave him the gun said shoot the men in green and we will give your family food. I almost shoot a 5-6 year old kid in the face with an FN .It still haunts me today.

"We're fools to make war on our brothers in arms," One of the great Anti-War songs. One day ago, Ukraine offered 5 million rubles ($40,000) to any Russian soldier who would stop fighting. All they have to do is go up to a Ukranian soldier and say: "MIllion."
@davidpost4282 жыл бұрын
Sarah, on your own you might like to listen to the original version by Dire Straits, made in the eighites after the Falklands War between Britain and Argentina. Mark Knopfler's plaintive guitar is haunting and that's what Home Free captured in their harmony breaks here.
@SarahDengler2 жыл бұрын
Its really sad what's going on between Ukraine and Russia now, I hope it gets resolved soon because everyone is suffering because of that. Thank you for suggesting this. Its truly powerful and I will check the original out now.

@@SarahDengler I had the Dire Straits album "Brothers in Arms" and that song carried its message for decades and now I am so glad that Home Free has carried it on to a new generation. You could listen to the studio version, but I think one gets a greater feel for its depth with this video: "Mark Knopfler - Brothers In Arms (A Night In London | Official Live Video)" The people are standing in silence as they listen. Respect.

A dying soldier saying farewell to his comrades, thanking them for being there for him and also telling them that they are all fools to fight fellow soldiers. How can that not be moving? The futility of war. Someone should translate this into Russian and pipe it across all the airwaves in Ukraine.

I love acapella but unfortunately imo this one didn't translate well, it lost it's emotion. you should definately check out the original by DireStraits, make sure it's the official video as the video itself is a piece of art and really stirs up emotions.

Both versions are very good just in different ways. I grew up with Dire Straits' version & Mark Knopfler's voice & guitar playing. But appreciate the solemnness conveyed in Home Free's version with the haunting bass voice & harmonies.
@wehay782 жыл бұрын
@@dagmar.6954 I felt it was too focused on bass and singing it as low as possible rather than feeling the lyrics, no doubt a talented band but the bass is deep and rough sounding when you compare him to someone like Avi who used to be in ptx, Avi was probably not as deep but alot smoother. Just not for me that one 😀
@dagmar.69542 жыл бұрын
@@wehay78 It is just a matter of taste. I am a huge Tim Foust fan. Love his natural deep bass. But I also enjoy Avi's voice. Also the arrangement that Home Free followed was the one done by "Club For Five".
@davidpost4282 жыл бұрын
@@wehay78 I thought that Tim Foust's solemnity carried this song, impressed the severity of the words on us, along wth the rising harmonies. Interesting thought about how Avi Kaplan's smoother bass would have carried this as well with the emotion that he brings. I owned the Dire Straits "Brothers in Arms" album and that song carried for decades. I'm glad for this harmonic a capella version bringing this song to a new generation.
