They reminded me of a pipe organ, especially when Tim fills out the harmonies with those really full low notes! Great reaction!
@karinfichtner74793 жыл бұрын
I agree! I have done my share of singing with a pipe organ behind me, and the chords they hit....especially the very last two....were EXACTLY like a pipe organ. Anyone who's ever performed in a chorale or barbershop quartet knows how much hard work goes int memorizing your part, lyrics and all. And then...add to that the cinematography and the timing and synchronization.....and you have hours and hours of hard work. These guys have been touring all year! They work their butts off!! And they all do things on their own on the side! Pure perfection, amazing arrangement, and a heart-rending message. How do they ever top that? Good reaction.

I agree! Home Free has released this video leading up to Veterans Day and the message is very much needed. Their patriotism and approach to sensitive social issues have earned my utmost respect. That they consistently use their platform to start these conversations across the globe, is truly a blessing that I hope we enjoy for years to come! Great reaction, Travis!

Home Free created such an impactful version of this song. The harmonies, Chance’s silky voice, and Tim’s earth shaking bass combine to really bring out the message of the song.

This song hit me in my feels. I am a proud wife of an army man and mother to two sons who also proudly served. When I think of all of the people we know that didn't make it home, I cry. This song is so poignant and the harmonies are off the charts good. God bless them for this.

Another exceptional performance from Home Free, Tim in particular, and another brilliant reaction from you. I don't know...this one hit me hard. The music was beautiful and the lyrics very heavy and emotional...almost haunting. I cannot get it out of my head. The imagery also. Not your typical cemetery. Most I've been to have gates around them with elaborate headstones and are usually well-maintained. This seemed to be out in the middle of nowhere, no gates, few headstones and almost seemed like a tumbleweed or two blowing by...yet, in the majesty and foothills of the mountains with American flags whipping in the wind. I've heard of Dire Straits, but didn't know this particular song. The most memorable line for me was, "we only have one world, yet we live in different ones." Isn't that so true...of all of us?! A HUGE thank you to all our service men and women, past and present, for all you do/have done to keep us safe. God Bless you always! Home of the free, because of the brave!! Travis, so good to be with you last night during the impromptu livestream. Can't wait for the next one!! :)

Travis I'm so glad you are getting to know Home Free is more than just country/pop but they are very serious artists as well. Dude you need to finally hear *DIVE BAR SAINTS* and *SOME GIRLS DO* you'll love both of them....they are Home Free greats !!! Dive Bar Saints is an original, and of course Some Girls Do is cover of a Sawyer Browb classic from the early 1990's

Thank you Travis for reacting to this Phenomenal performance of the guy's. It's hauntingly gorgeous and broke me down completely when I heard it for the first time! Gives me chills and almost feels " Holy " to me as if I'm standing on sacred ground. Love the respect that Home Free always gives to important issues. This was done in time for VETERAN'S DAY. Written by Mark Knopfler and recorded by him with his band Dire Straits in honor of the lost soldiers during the War of the Falkland Islands. Interesting backstory if you would like to check it out. I think Home Free has a message in the info with this, it's encouraging and very beautiful! Love how they stand unapologetically for their convictions and beliefs!

Wasn't this amazing. I remember the Dire Straits 1985 hit. They really emoted the feel of the original if not better. The haunting melodies brought tears a few times. I heard the audio a few times when they released Land of The Free. But the video added that much more feeling somehow.

Such a genius touch to show the silhouette of the fellas in front of the window. I know some see it as a "ghost"y reference but it strikes me as a reflection of the POW/MIA flag. We'll never know just how many of those met the same fate as the soldier of this song. 😥
@judydavis79933 жыл бұрын
Yes this was wonderful but you really should check out the Dire Straits version because the star was the guitar. If guitars could cry it did in that song. Coming from a very military family with a lot of veterans this song really pulls at the heart strings. So thankful to all veterans for their service and sacrifice.. Especially those who never made it home. Tim and Chances vocals were as usual "amazing." Love my Homefree and your reaction.

The fact that you froze in stank face position says it all, Travis! The message of this is that we are folks to make war on our brothers in arms, meaning the enemy, but I always look for the deeper meaning, because there's always one to find, and the truth is that most people fight wars against most things in life and most people in life, and most of all themselves. And that's where peace begins, with us, each of us, finding the peace within us, that we stop fighting wars in ourselves, the negative self talk that everyone has going on. Another truth is that people who are at peace do no harm to others. It's really simple math. Great reaction, but I'm not really expecting snorkling but great from either Home Free nor you, by now. Thank you! 🥰🙏

i searched for a live version of Dire Straits to see if the end chords are the same. They aren't. HF added the "amen" chord which gives this version an extra "oomph" for me. Yes, i'm also a vet, but was fortunate to not be in an armed conflict. My heart aches for those who still carry that weight with them.

Hi Travis. As you know I'm a born again Pentaholic but I occasionally stray from the path of righteousness and fall into the orbit of some of the other voice wizards and having seen this being written about in comments by the Pentafrees (or is it Pentafries? Or Home Players? I'm not sure but I'll just say Pantaholics to cover all of the crossovers) I thought I'd check it out. I'm not American and in post-Brexit Britain I'm not feeling all that patriotic either except in the cause of Scottish independence but that's by the by. None of that matters when listening to this because outside of all of the factors surrounding it this song was beautiful and heartfelt and I say that having listened to the Forever Green album which includes The Prayer and I Just called to say I Love You, as I don't have to tell you. I can offer no higher praise than to say I think it belongs in those echelons. All of the a capella groups seem to be turning it up and turning it out and just when you think nothing can equal something, something does.
