Wasn't that fun! Fun fact: someone told (the) Diana Ross about HF's cover of this song Love Train. She checked the video out... and then, for several hours, watched more HF videos. She then told her people to book HF for her 75th birthday party (there were other acts). So, HF got to sing at Diana Ross' 75th birthday party.

There is a video from a Home Free concert in 2019 where they asked they audience to forgive them if they seemed a bit less energetic that night but they had just had a very busy 48 hours. The reason: Diana Ross had personally invited them to her 75th birthday party. So they had performed a concert one night, then on a day they were suppose to have a break and rest had last minute taken a flight to Los Angeles to attend her party, then took a red eye flight back to the East Coast for the concert they were then performing. The reason Ms Ross had invited them last minute to her party was because she had come across this video of “Love Train” and had spent the entire day then watching all the videos of Home Free that she could find - official music videos and fan shot concert footage. She became a fan and wanted to meet them so invited them to the party.

A relative who provided start-up money to Chris Rupp (Adam's brother and founder of the band) had a beloved boat named "Home Free" which is why Chris Rupp gave the band that name.

Between Adam and Tim the percussion and bass line are always so perfect that, I, for one, forget they are being produced vocally. And then I find out that depending on the song or who is singing lead or what's needed anyone of the guys is filling a percussion role alongside Adam. They are brilliant and so versatile. And, it seems to me, a team. This might seem an odd comparison but they seem a team in the sense of the Larry Bird era, as an example 1986, Celtics. Everyone was involved, it wasn't about individual stats in the game, it was about winning.

Since you talked about where the name of the O'Jays came from, I thought you'd like to know the origin of the name Home Free. Apparently it was the name of the boat owned by a friend of the family who staked them some money to get started.

I often feel a little sorry when more analytical reactors point out how complex and skilled Home Free's performances are. Then I notice some of their musical gymnastics. I know it comes from HF's love of the music and the artist's need to stretch. Bless them.
