Caution - Home Free is highly addictive. They sing everything from goofy to gospel; however, they always will sound a little 'country' - 3 of them are from southern U.S. states (Texas, Alabama & Georgia - the other 2 are from Minnesota). The band was originally formed in 2000. Three of them are also song writers so there are lots of originals as well as covers. Their beatboxer & their harmonies are incomparable and each of them is wildly talented. Fall down the rabbit hole - it's a great trip!

Love Home Free. They sing country but they sing all genres of music. All a cappella and their beatboxer is amazing. They choose the lead depending on the song. They’re known for their amazing harmonies. Such good vocalists. Try End of the Road (Boyz II Men song), Castle on the Hill, Give Me a Sign.

Thank you for reacting to this. I loved seeing the enjoyment on your face. Home Free does lean country, but can do any genre; R and B, Rock, Pop. They have done a couple of John Denver songs, Country Roads and Thank God I'm a Country Boy. They have done Boys II Men End of the Road, and their version of Percy Sledge's When a Man Loves a Woman is awesome. They have collaborated with Kenny Rogers, Oak Ridge Boys, Don McLean (American Pie), and have so many great originals as well! Thanks again!

You're right; Austin Brown, the lead tenor on this song, grew up singing in his father's church choir in Georgia. I recommend their cover of "My Church", which is fronted by the bass, Tim Foust. The lead varies on different songs, depending on who's best for it.

Great Reaction!! Welcome to Home Free rabbit hole. The group started in 2001 by brothers Chris and Adam Rupp They are the only country A Capella ( all vocals no instruments)group but they can honestly sing any genre and they do They won The Sing Off season 4 2013 that's where they became very popular. Fans of Home Free are known as Home Fries and are very loyal to the guys. Adam Rupp: Beatboxer Extraordinaire -Tenor can make any sound imaginable (A whole drum kit, harmonica (his Nomonica we call it )plane flyovers, trains, castanets, bugs ,birds etc).Co founder from Mankato Minnesota. Rob Lundquist :Lead tenor(beard and glasses) very soulful voice from Minneapolis,Minnesota Tim Foust :Bass (had long dark hair now short with grey ) 5+ octave range can go so low he blows speakers or sky high from Nederland,Texas Austin.Brown:High Tenor ( Long wavy hair ) voice of an angel from Tifton Georgia. Adam Chance(Aka Chance):Baritone/Bass deep, rich voice(Does the juice harp sound in Man Of Constant Sorrow) has short dark hair short beard from Baldwin County,Alabama.Replaced Chris Rupp ( Adams Brother and co founder)in 2016 There is no lead singer they each sing the song ( except Adam the beatboxer) to see who’s voice or voices suits it the best. Adam can sing but he prefers beatboxing to hear him sing listen to How Great Thou Art or kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZ6UqZuPj86GqK8 They have collaborated with many great singers and legends Don McLean:American Pie Oak Ridge Boys:Elvira Kenny Rodgers:Children Go Where I Send Thee Billy Gilman:One Voice Alabama:Christmas In Dixie Mark Wills:Don’t Laugh At Me ( important message at the end ) Brooke Eden:Delta Dawn ( newest release) Any many more. They have a very large playlist of covers and Original songs End of the Road: Boyz 2 Men cover When A Loves A Woman Road Sweet Road (original) Dive Bar Saints (Original) Helplessly Hoping (5 part harmony) Listen To The Music When Will I Be Loved Butts Melody/ Remix ( hilarious) Can’t Outrun You Workin For A Livin Hillbilly bone Bone One Man Band Brothers In Arms Give Me A Sign (Chapter One of Stargazer Trilogy) Mayday(DON’T WATCH TILL YOU ARE VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE GROUP AND THEIR RANGES ) There's not a song that you pick from their 155 + catalog that is bad I haven't found one yet. They are just funny, down to earth, humble nice guys. They are the best A Cappella group there is Sorry for the long read

Home Free has apparently captured you now, and I hope to follow you following them through a ginormous catalog of music. You have just been introduced to the best a cappella group out there. These guys are all so talented. They lean towards country but they can do any genre. They all can take the lead depending on whos voice is best for the song. They are known for their tight harmonies. Tim Foust is one of the best bass singers out there & their beatboxer vocal percussionist Adam Rupp can simulate any sound. This song is very old & is done in the bluegrass country style. It was used in the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" starring George Clooney. Some of my favorites are "Take Me Home Country Roads", "In The Blood", "Ring Of Fire", "Blue Ain't Your Color", "How Great Thou Art", "Elvira", "Hillbilly Bone", "American Pie", "Brother In Arms", "One Man Band", "Listen To The Music", "Sea Shanty Medley" etc.

New subscriber. Great reaction, too! I love it when people discover Home Free. They are a freakishly talented group of fellas! They can make you laugh sometimes, they can make you cry sometimes but they always impress. Here's a cheat sheet on the group: Adam Rupp, co-founder of HF and the awesome beatboxer. Tim Foust, bass. He has a five-octave range. Rob Lundquist (glasses and beard) Tenor Harmony. Austin Brown, Lead Tenor. Adam Chance, Baritone ( goes by Chance). Chance replaced Chris Rupp (co-founder) who left in 2016. Take Me Home Country Roads is phenomenal but you might also want to check out Dreamer, When A Man Loves A Woman, End Of The Road, One Man Band, American Pie featuring Don McLean, I Swear, Blue Ain't Your Color, Dive Bar Saints, The Driver, Crazy and Folsom Prison Blues. For some funny ones: Butts Medley, All About That Bass, Champagne Taste, Hillbilly Bone and their newest one, Ray Stevens' Mississippi Squirrel Revival. For some serious ones: How Great Thou Art, Go Rest High On That Mountain. When you are familiar with all the boys and their vocal roles, do Mayday. And last but not least, Brothers In Arms. It is haunting and beautiful. They have recently released several new songs that you will want to check out. Unchained Melody, Listen to the Music, Brother...the list goes on. To switch it up..try Two Country Singers try singing Opera. Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole!

North Carolina girl here, and new subscriber. It sounds like you have a place in your heart for the Old North State, and so do I. I live in the foothills and love the mountains! It is crazy that you can go from The Smokey Mountains to the beautiful beaches in about 4 hours. I enjoy you and your reactions. I grew up with the music you are getting into. In my day it was about talent and it was real talent. Music today seems so fake. It all about smoke and cameras and not about the music. So sad!

In addition to the country songs others have mentioned, check out their more Motown/blues/gospel/R&B sounds: Folsom Prison Blue, When a Man Loves a Woman, End of the Road, Blue Ain't Your Color, Thinking Out Loud (Ed Sheeran/Let's Get It On (Marvin Gaye) mashup. And a must is the Butts Medley (or Mixup).

And...another one falls down the rabbit hole. You are so doomed. We'll save you a chair. You're about to be buried in Home Fries. Home Free is the only country a capella group out there, but they can - and do - sing every genre. And they have no lead singer. Every one of these men can take the lead, and they pick the lead for each song by who does it the most justice. During quarantine, they kept all us Home Fries sane by dropping new videos every couple of weeks. God bless ‘em. All the men can beat box, but Adam is in a league of his own. He's a world-class vocal percussionist and there're good reasons he's called a "Freak of Nature" and “the man who swallowed a drum kit.” For more of Adam's incredible beat boxing, check out Sea Shanty medley (the man makes castanets, for Pete's sake), his no-monica solo on Working For A Living and Ain't Going Down Til The Sun Comes Up (that video is on Facebook), and his drum solos. For more of Tim's seismic basso profundo, listen to Brothers In Arms, Misty Mountains (his collaboration with Peter Hollens), Folsom Prison Blues, or Ring Of Fire (the Sing Off version). For Chance's smooth baritone, check out Down to the Honky Tonk, Brothers In Arms, I Can’t Outrun You, and Folsom Prison Blues. (Awesome.. basso profundo and a baritone/bass in the same group.) FYI, Chance is singing (throat singing) the jaw harp sounds - without the jaw harp - in Man Of Constant Sorrow. For Rob's soulful tenor, check out End of the Road, Blue Ain't Your Color, or Bless The Broken Road. (Blue-eyed soul is in good hands with The Beard.) For Austin's soaring power tenor, check out Crazy, Moonshine, When A Man Loves a Woman, or Bring Him Home. (But bolt down your chair ‘cause he'll sing you right out of it.) For their humor, check out Butts Remix, Working For A Living, Between A Rock And A Heartache, Make You Feel My Love, Brother, and Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget. For their amazing arrangement skills, check out Do You Hear What I Hear. (Adam's arrangement. Nothing else like it.) For their tight harmonies, check out Helplessly Hoping, How Great Thou Art, Brothers In Arms, or Auld Lang Syne. For their mashups, check out Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get It On, Fishing in the Dark/Boondocks, Country Fried Pop, or Woman, Amen/Female. The Home Free men are masters of collaborations. They put the spotlight on their collaborator, supporting them with wonderful vocals and amazing harmonies. Check out God Bless the USA with Lee Greenwood, American Pie with Don McLean, Elvira with The Oak Ridge Boys, Children Go Where I Send Thee with the late Kenny Rogers, Don’t Laugh At Me with Mark Wills, Christmas In Dixie with Alabama, Delta Dawn with Brooke Eden, or Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For with Peter Hollens. Get at least five videos under your belt and then listen to Mayday - the official video. After Mayday, you'll be ready for Tim and Austin doing My Maria or Tim's mashup of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay. Then, when you come up for air, check out Rob’s and Austin’s “Two Country Singers Try Singing Opera.” You'll need smelling salts after that one. Don't miss their official videos. The Home Free men will often do a straight, gorgeous vocal performance, but they'll add elements of humor to the video that will leave you chuckling or even laughing out loud. (Folsom Prison Blues, Between A Rock And A Heartache, Make You Feel My Love, Working For A Living, Brother). And God help you when you get hit with the Home Free Curse. They’ll cover a song you absolutely cannot stand and make you like it against your will. I’ve been hit by the curse four times now, and I’m not alone. Their synergy is phenomenal. Each is an artist in his own right, but man - when they sing together, magic happens. Wicked talent polished by decades of hard work. (Unchained Melody, Castle On The Hill, Seven Bridges Road, Only In America) To paraphrase another Home Fry, “They don't just own a cover, they upgrade it.” You are doomed, Home Fry. Bring ketchup.

My introductory trio of songs I always suggest to folks who are interested in learning more about Home Free - Ring of Fire (ft. Avi Kaplan of Pentatonix), End of the Road (soulful harmonies), and their Butts Remix/Medley (silly fun, amazing arrangement). If you listen again, perhaps you will pick-up on the line about riding “That Northern Railroad”. It’s the song of a slave bidding farewell to all he knows and loves before he runs for freedom. First recorded around 1915, it was then called “The Goodbye Song” or “The Farewell Song”. An underground network (The Northern Railroad) of people that helped smuggle slaves to freedom, put there lives at risk if caught. Execution was usually the punishment for the white people assisting the slaves, and also for the slaves that dared to run. Perhaps a different chill may crawl up your back when hearing this song, rather then Bar-B-Que’s and chillin with friends now. The song has an excitement and eager beat, yet a very somber undercurrent. Perfectly performed.

There are 3 A Capella groups that I say are equal and are the best out there. 1) Pentatonix, who won the third season of a singing competition called The Sing Off. 2) Home Free, who won the 4th season of The Sing Off. 3) Voice Play who most members (and they change member often) have backgrounds with Disney so they are very theatrical.
