Yes, everything they do is acapella. All the sounds are done vocally, including the mouth harp, drums, and harmonica sounds. lol, I guess you need to do more Home Free reactions. These guys are phenomenal in every genre of music they try.

Fun Fact: There's a movie based around this particular song called "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" Starring George Clooney. (Set in the early 1900,s. 3 friends break out of prison and record this song at a radio station while they're on the run. It becomes a hit without them knowing....Great movie....Great song.

Tim Foust is the bass in the group. If you thought THAT was low, check out Peter Hollens & Tim Foust together singing Misty Mountains!! Hold on tight 'cause that bass will vibrate you right out yo chair!

This is the music of Appalachia. The people were poor. When this music was made, all they had was the voices and maybe a "mouth harp" like these guys, and if really lucky, a harmonica. It's beautiful music and I love that these guys are bringing it back.

yes it's fully accapela it's a band founded by Adam Rupp the beetboxer ( harmonica guy) and yes each one can produce " ambiance sound" like Tim Foust that make the bass barriton voice and the vocal fry but it's fully accapela!
@bettycouch47343 жыл бұрын
New sub here, been a home free fan for many years. Each of the guys can make different vocal sounds to make the song sound fuller. Listen to their cover of Can't Stop The Feeling, they do a break down that will give you a glimpse into some of the sounds each of these guys can do. Loved your reaction, hope you do more Home Free.
@tomhansen45763 жыл бұрын
Being the Christmas season you check out HF's version of Do You Hear What I Hear. Their beat boxer, Adam Rupp, and co-founder of the band, arranged it and they perform it in a real ice castle in Minnesota. It is an incredible arrangement. BTW, Adam has won the World Beatboxing Championship the last two years in a row.
@obe220993 жыл бұрын
Home Free and Voiceplay made me reconsider the concept of all male vocal groups. I had a serious bias seeing thumbnails of these guys. For me the bass notes guys like Tim, Avi, Geoff can reach are insane. People that can hit every note in the first octave is rare. For every vocalist that can bottom out the subhormonic register there are a dozens of crazy talented powerhouse vocalists. It's just so rare to hear someone with a super low speaking voice, even more rare to have these people know how to use that type of voice. It's no less impressive than whistle notes but far less common. Super primal sounds, notes like E1 trigger some sort of fight or flight response.

Check out Home Free's version of "Do You Hear What I Hear?" I think it's their best song. Or Boyz II Men "End of the Road." Adam Rupp (the beatboxer) is a 2 time world champion. Literally a human drum set.

I'd like to suggest that you get a P.O Box for getting fan mail, just for privacy concerns. I've been waiting for you to get to Home Free, and now with headphones you will really appreciate how intricate their music is. They aren't the typical a cappella group. I loved how the song grabbed you and took you for an eargasm journey. They have a large catalogue of songs, but for the Holidays I would like to suggest their cover of Do You Hear What I Hear. Loved your reaction ✌️😎

Yeah that’s all Home Free - no instruments. They’re amazing aren’t they? They do mostly country but do all genres. They won the show the Sing Off the year after Pentatonix won. They’re both great ‘a cappella’ groups. Tim Foust is the bass for Home Free and can go super low but he has a 5 octave range so he can sing high as well. They all have great voices and do a lot of covers but also write their own songs too. Do You Hear What I Hear, O Holy Night, Mayday, Die A Happy Man, are all good. Anything you try by them is good. Try End of the Road by Boys II Men. It’s a great cover by them. Welcome to Home Free!

Adam Rupp is the walking drum kit, and sound effects guy. He does a great harmonica. Adam chance started it off with the throat singing. He also sings bass but usually handles the baritone singing. You should hear him sing Some Girls Do. Tim Faust is the regular bass guy. You might get a kick out of him singing Hillbilly Bone. Austin Brown is the tenor who started this song off. You should hear him sing When a Man Loves a Woman. Robb is the second tenor you heard. You should hear him sing End of the Road. All Home Free members can sing, and sing well.

A cappella music is a group or solo performance without instrumental accompaniment, or a piece intended to be performed in this way. The term a cappella was originally intended to differentiate between Renaissance polyphony and Baroque concertato style.

All of them are just ridiculously talented, if you listen to "How Great Thou Art" you will have tears in your eyes, the New Years standard "Alud Lang Syne" is another showcase of the harmony and vocal talent in the group. Adam Rupp (beatboxer) is a cyborg, he's got to be part robot to make all those noises. Tim Faust is the Base singer I'm convinced he's at least part dragon. (pure human don't make that kind of noise)

And if you want to hear even lower, you need to check out Geoff Castallucci and his group, Voiceplay. They recently released "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" in time for the holiday.
