If you haven't checked out the bass gang, bobby (bass) waters, and/or peter barber you will probably enjoy some of their songs. They are young bass singers so I would say not quite as polished yet as the old guard but just as low and some of them have an impressive range as well. My personal favorite is peter and bobby covering Avi's "The Summit" kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4rNdHuejduNorc Some of the guys do depend fairly heavily on sub-harmonics.

What a fantastic interview! I’ve liked Tim Foust since I first heard Home Free, and this interview made him seem more amazing. I had no idea of his background prior to Home Free, and he is such a great conversationalist. I’m a bass, too, but I don’t have his ability to talk at length without a script. Nor could I ever sing like he does so naturally. Now I’m 77, and I no longer have the breath to sing.

I got to this point and paused the interview. I was like, Wait - he knows that group? He grew up with acapella gospel? I went to Google and checked, and sure enough, he was raised in the Church of Christ, a niche sect of evangelical Christianity which has a strong emphasis on not using instruments in worship. This makes SO much sense and it is really cool that we have a similar musical background. (I credit my COC upbringing for my deep love of vocal harmony and acapella music in general) Now I want to hear Home Free cover 728B (iykyk)

Yup, the Singing has always been my favorite part of worship and the thing that remains close to my heart even as my feelings on other parts of our doctrine have gotten more complicated. I was part of singing workshops and camps growing up that taught me the basic fundamentals of solfege and sight singing that helped me when I joined choir in High School. (I still need shape notes to sight read well 😅) Tims earlier story about being able to pitch match before he could talk is also super relatable given the context of Church singing. My Mom also sang constantly to me and by the time I started talking, I knew the words to every song in that old blue songbook.

EZ - I so thoroughly enjoyed your "Chat" with Tim - His life/musical background just made me admire him all the more... just to be connected with a guy like Peter Hollens tells you a lot about his life's experience and character. He's such a humble person and yet his talent and just plain ol' good nature make him a very special person to all who know him and work with him. I just saw them (Home Free) in concert this past Friday in Atlanta with Texas Hill and they literally rocked the joint!!! It's one thing to appreciate their talent in the recording booth especially with a producer/engineer like Darren Rust, but the "Live" performances make it even better - I don't look for vocal perfection as much as vocal energy - Touring will test your vocal cords to the max so you have to rely on performance to "help" you out when the voice is strained from all the touring - 250+ concerts a year can take a toll on the 'ol voice box... They just dropped their version of "Mary did you know?" and it is the best arrangement I have ever heard and is simply astounding...Just wait and see... I appreciate what you do and am excited for you and hubby - Myself, as a father of 5 and GF of 15 (geesh!!!) I'm blessed beyond words... Thank you for who you are and for what you do that allows us to see music in a very special way!! Have a Merry Christmas! RichieC (Atlanta) ps - I like tea as well... 😉

I got to see Home Free live for the 1st time in October & saw them again last week. When Tim hits the low note & you can feel your seat vibrate or feel the floor vibrate, that is so amazing!! RE the content released during the quarantine - I have to send a big THANK YOU to all the members of Home Free & their tech crew. Knowing that a new video was going to drop every other Friday almost like clockwork was wonderful. It gave me something to look forward to at a time when there wasn't much else to look forward to.

I have only recently discovered Elizabeth’s channel, and I’m jumping around all over the place and land on reactions to Pentatonix and Home Free pieces - two of my favorite vocal groups. I was ECSTATIC. Not only am I getting to hear some of my favorite music, but I’m getting to watch Elizabeth’s adorable reactions AND her educated, informed commentary and knowledge of vocal production. And now I get a truly superb interview with a bass hero of mine who seems like not only an incredibly talented artist but a genuinely down to earth, generous, and real human. I am so thankful that I have found this channel- thank you, thank you, thank you!

It's really amazing to see her interview someone she's reacted to. Especially a music giant like Mr. Foust. When I saw the thumbnail of this video my jaw hit the floor. You've gotta love the ladies reaction when they first experience ... "Yoooooou'll remember meeeee"

You two are so genuine and easy to listen to. I discovered Home Free about two years ago and have become a rabid fan. I love what they do and how terrific they sound with no instrumentation at all. Of course Tim is a favorite as we all love his bass, but are also amazed at his range. The best thing is the group seems so real and happy just singing together. Unfortunately, they never or at least haven't yet come to California.

I accidentally stumbled onto your reaction video of Man of Constant Sorrow (Home Free). Believe it or not, I was watching adventure motorcycle videos. I have always been a sucker for great harmony, and I heard all those great Home Free vocals and I was hooked. Your analysis was so interesting, almost scientific (l'm a Lead Test Engineer just finishing 2 new nuclear power plants). I want to thank you for introducing me to Home Free, I've been devouring their music these past few days. Their cover of Helplessly Hoping (CSN) literally brought tears to my eyes as I felt my soul swelling with joy at the pure clear harmony. Thank you for the introduction. Typically I'm a Blackberry Smoke Fan, southern rock or guitar shredders (Clapton, Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Bonamassa, Tedeschi Trucks). I'm now subscribed to see what new music I get exposed to. I appreciate what you do, exposing new / different artists to new audiences. I listen to your thoughts and hear things that I heard in the song, but was too immersed in the totality of the song to truly appreciate the nuanced subtlety of. Again, thank you.

This interview is great! I love Tim and I love you, so seeing you both together, is so much fun! Tim is so talented, and has a great sense of humor, and you show such delight in what you watch or who you talk to, it shows all on your face, and it's great when you are so happy when you giggle. Thank you both for this. It is so wonderful to watch, over and over.

I'm a Tennessee Southern Boy of 70 years and love to be the cook in the family (so does my wife althought she's a better cook than me). I'm with you Tim on the cornbread dressing. Never was a fan of 'stuffing', but I learned cornbread dressing from my mother and she from her mother. It's also probably one of my favorite things in the world to eat. My greatest luck is that before my bother passed away, she put all of her favorite recipes in a 3 ring binder for my wife and it's one of our greatest possesions. Love both of you.

As a Home Fry, I enjoyed this interview SO much!! I "met" them at the Sing-Off and it's been a life-changer. My father played guitar in a country band and it sort of takes me back to my roots. Love each and every one of Home Free and the coolest thing is each one is so talented on their own! Tim not only has an amazing voice, he's such an entertainer.^i^ My Cincinnati Taft Concert due in March 2020 had to be changed to June 2022. I can't wait!

Very cool. My two favorite bands are Home Free and Nightwish, which seems kind of strange because they are at opposite ends of the Musical spectrum. So I was leaning towards you interviewing Floor, but here comes Tim. I'm in. haha. Nicely done Elizabeth. I'll be waiting patiently. haha. Naw....Impatiently for sure. Yep, that was worth the wait. Thank you Elizabeth.

My favorite has been Nightwish since I first heard them in 2004, and I jumped on the Home Free bandwagon back in 2012, about 6 months before they hit the Sing Off. So any interview with Floor or Tim is always great to tickle the eardrums with 😁
