Bastien sounds nice, he doesn't seem to have that grit or growl in his voice that Austin had in this song, but he can hit those high notes fine and He sounds good with the other guys. Thanks for posting.

I will reserve judgment until the group puts out a new video. It is impossible to judge Bastien fairly when he is thrown directly it to what we all consider Austin's parts and it just doesn't sound right.

I know the camera used to record didn't record the sound very well but how was the sound being there live? It doesn't sound like it was too good. Bastien's mic seems way too quiet and Rob's mic seems way too loud. Hopefully this was just a bad day with the sound system.

I’ve seen a couple of live videos with Bastien and that seems to be a persistent problem. He’s got all the high, soaring notes in the studio recordings, but it’s a little hard to pick him out live. Austin’s mic settings were different than what Bastien needs. They need to correct this.

@@juniper617 well I think he's great, he is not and will never be Austin. I love Austin but this is something new, that we all need to adjust to. The sounds system may need corrected, but Bastien doesn't

I disagree, he's weak in comparison to the rest, you can barely hear him and he can't belt at all.

It looks like Adam has been with HF since April, or even earlier. He's been a professional for quite some time. A lot to learn and he's doing well.

I have to wonder how long HF management had planned to ditch Austin (with no discussion or notice) from the summer tour he had been booked to play. Can't think that Bastien was suddenly free at zero notice to commit to the band in perpetuity. Would dearly love to know what on earth went on and why the band seem to have signed an NDA. These people were his friends, but you would never guess.

There are big shoes to fill, and he's not even close to Austin. Home Free has lost their sound.

A few things. Just as when Chance was added, the group makeup is different, and the sound will be different. Different doesn’t mean worse or better - it means not the same. All the songs over past decade were arranged with Austins voice in mind. As new songs are written and arranged, and old ones perhaps slightly revised, with Bastiens voice and strengths in mind, their sound will sync more. Please give the group some grace. By the end of the year, with all the shows they are doing, they will be able to mesh and hone their voices and sound. You are welcome to your opinions, but passing judgement on the basis of one show - the first show - is unfair. It would be like judging a pastry chef on the first time they cater a BBQ. Home Free is entering a new era like they did when Chance joined, and with all that talent and experience it’s going to be glorious. If you decide you don’t like the new sound, at least you have years of recorded music to listen to.
