I didn't think anything could out do the original until these guys injected their special magic. omg. So beautiful, it takes my breath away. These guys are constantly making me cry. Either with laughter, or emotionally charged offerings, or in this case something so beautiful to listen to it makes me bawl like a overly hormonal teenager. This went right to the top of my list. I would love to know who was doing the beautiful bell tones in the background. They are a small but wonderful addition. Great reaction.

The original was sung by Ben E. King in 1961 and covered by a plethora of artists since. A really great song and Home Free did an amazing job with it! HF proves once again that you don't need theatrics when you've got so much talent. Thanks for playing this & your comments

The guys did an amazing job with this song. All of them have wonderful parts that really get to the feels. meeting_meghan is right about the guys return to the Sing Off season 5. They sang Stand By Me with the judges. Very well done. (ok I went and looked) 😊

Hey Dennis, if I'm not mistaken, this was a song the guys did as returning champs in season 5. I don't think they've really performed it since then.

It's titled "Stand By Me - Home Free - The Sing Off Season 5 HD" on the Sebastien Lapointe channel. Also, Austin has a solo version on his channel. And they've done it at less formally at birthday bashes. It's been a staple with them for a long time. But I've never heard Rob sing it. Both he and Austin are phenomenal here. LOVE this version.

IMO, the Sing-Off Season 5 version would have sounded a lot better without the other 4. (Although I bet Austin enjoyed singing with Shawn Stockman!) This version is beautiful. 😊

Knowing how they all like to have that comedic side, would love to see Tim go soprano instead of Bass, or Adam going somewhere else, pranking with the beatbox'ing... Great video

And about Tim going soprano… he’s not female so that would be quite the task, however he does sing tenor and even high tenor in some songs… check out his rendition of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay. One of the songs I have been listening to for as long as I can remember. (I'm from 1963) First the LP, later I always had it on one of my cassette tapes, then I got the CD and in recent years I usually have it on one of my playlists. Although many versions had been released in the meantime, it was usually the version by Ben E. King or Otis Redding. But from now on it is the version of Home Free that is on my playlist and no other. Alternating the lead between Austin's powerful voice and Rob's silky soulful voice just sounds so beautiful and fantastic. Then the unparalleled vocal percussion, truly phenomenal. The great bass and beautiful harmony are the finishing touch.❤

If you really want to see it, search for "Special Performance - Home Free/Jewel/Shawn/Patrick Stump/Nick Lachey - "Stand By Me" By Ben E.King". You knew that harmony was coming at the end, that bass fall was the perfect end.

A phenomenal cover by the guys! Love it! The harmonies and everything else was brilliantly done! I especially loved the ending had a 50’s/60’s Doo Wop sound to it! This is going to be towards the top of my favorite release of theirs (that list gets longer all the time). Between Rob’s and Austin’s leads, Chance’s harmony, and of course, the percussion and bass were the bomb!

I can't hear this song without thinking of the Timon and Pumbaa version with the disasters happening to Pumbaa every time Timon sings "stand by me". That being said, the guys did a great job!

My mom who passed away a few years ago loved everything from Home Free. I have a rather unusual request. Not sure if you have done something like this before. Maybe react to one of the biggest Gospel hits ever in South Africa. Jerusalema from Master G. For a SA song, to get over half a billion views is a lot. This one has it. I think you will like it.

I think Ben E. King would be proud. This was easily the best acapella cover of Stand By Me that I've ever heard. Straight No Chaser also has a pretty good cover. However, this is better.
