Another good original from Home Free is one written by Austin, 'You Loved Me Like That.' I'm pretty sure that one will make you cry though. Austin wrote it about a devastating breakup from his past. Its a gorgeous song though. A more lighthearted one is 'Why Not' which, I don't know who wrote it but Rob leads and its one of my favorites of their originals.
@rowaineboyd15362 жыл бұрын
Home Free have many original songs! Dive Bar Saints (title song of their album) is light, then heart-warming, then heavier, and a warm hug from a terrific friend. 'I've Seen' isn't given nearly enough credit. As wonderful as their covers are, their originals are super special! Please listen to 'I've Seen' and 'Dive Bar Saints' and 'Catch Me If You Can' - you will NOT regret it!

Tim actually spent time as a professional song-writer in the late 2000s, between acapella groups, and there have been a couple of his songs on pretty much all of Home Free's albums - from fun ones like Champagne Taste to thoughtful ones like Remember This. And as some other people have said, HF's new album is almost all originals, so you've got a lot more Tim and Austin written songs to look forward to.
@toddlower55462 жыл бұрын

I love Home Free's originals, especially the ones written by Tim or Austin. When we close in on Christmas you're in for a treat with their Christmas originals such as Full of Cheer and Snow Globe written by Tim and Warmest Winter and Cold Hard Cash written by Austin. Their new album So Long Dixie is almost exclusively songs written by the two of them, with some help of some of their song writing friends, and they also threw in a couple of songs we've already got such as American Pie with Don McLean. They also use some instruments in a couple of the songs, including the title track.

Hurtin' and a healin' are southern country terms. When Tim sings it really sounds so country. He grew up in Texas, but to me, he doesn't talk as southern as he sings (of course I'm, another southerner, so I may not detect it as well). Love his vocals though.

@@JenniferGlatzhofer Okay, Jen. This reply is your fault lol. You taught me how to listen. So, here ya go. I put the new song on my HF playlist and played it on shuffle. About mid-way thru the playlist, "What's Left of My Heart" came on. It immediately stood out to me as something different. I was immediately reminded of the Oak Ridge Boys history. They were strictly a Gospel Quartet for decades. The current lineup stayed gospel for nearly another. They became accustomed to singing with each other and good easily pick out their parts to any songs writers sent their way. At that point, they tried their hand at secular country music. It didn't take long from that point for them to produce a hit. And the rest is decades of sold-out concerts. I am positive that the Oaks have made themselves available to HF whenever they might ask for advice. In any case, you are dead accurate in your assessment that they now know each other well enough to write and produce original music that has a better than average chance of making to Billboard Charts. Thanks to a more technology savvy world than the Oaks experienced, Home Free has a solid, and steadily increasing fan base from which to start. See what ya did, Jen? 😁

a-prefixing "a-healin" is a very Southern American English thing, though I was taught we picked it up from older Scots dialects. Highly recommend the originals off Dive Bar Saints and Good Old Country Harmonies.

Jen, if you want another original check out 'Champagne taste (on a beer budget)' It's technically a cover but it was written by Tim, several years before he joined HF full time he was working for an unnamed benefactor and was asked to write some country songs amongst other things and, at the time he was kinda over country music (ironic considering where he is now) and wrote the most cliche country song you could imagine and performed it with a 'band' made up of friends he'd made in the industry. The video is funny as well and has a surprising cameo in it. worth a listen.
