Mike, your pride in your work results in pride in self. Your patience in training your new technicians is most commendable. Your love of animals is enduring. Your success exceeds the dreams of the wealthiest. People can be happy in any job if they can attain self-worth. I love your videos because you do not see problems, but a challenge. The can-do attitude is what the youth need to learn about.

Great video. I saw a lot of those gas valves 25+ yrs ago in Canada on ICG/now Heil furnaces. I think it had a mercury/liquid filled tube and sensor and bellows which expanded when heated and proved ignition. The assembly with 3 pins that plugs into the gas valve would come loose and the pins corroded and it was a real pain in the azz. Glad you got it retrofitted. With furnaces at that age we replaced them as the repair cost and chance of a heat exchanger failure soon convinced people to go that route.

Love your video's wanted to mention the pilot lights with flame rectification but the main gas valve is turned on using a Mercury Flame sensor, which used expanding mercury to change the single pole double pole switch from pilot to main valve. Your the Best.
@eriktownsend455311 ай бұрын
Hi Mike! I enjoy your videos. I am a technician myself and have seen instances with pets like this and it is sad. On a technical note the original flame safety didn’t use flame rectification. It uses a mercury filled bulb and tube that when heated expands and pushes a switch in the plug. Keep up the videos.

Thank you Mike for reporting this no eligible pet owner. I absolutely love all animals and have been bitten a couple of times because I crossed the line with the pets. But I absolutely did not report an incident. Dogs instinctively protect their home and master. I've always wondered at what point do you report animal abuse? I carry dog treats in my truck and always ask first before I offer the treat because I love animals so much. Usually the customer will crate the dog because they may bite, but if it appears that the animal actually lives in that crate. I will definitely call the ASPCA. Thanks so much for sharing this unedited video. A fan forever, ronniehvac

Hey Mikey, Cool video! Got a question on your Testo 320. I have a Testo 310. How often do you have to have yours recalibrated? I bought my 310 brand new from Sid Harvey's. I used it only about a little over a half dozen times, and i always make sure i start it up outside in fresh air like recommended. But now my Testo went bonckers on me, won't operate correctly. I took it back to Sid Harvey's and explained the issues with it and they said it needs recalibration and needs to be sent out to Testo to do the recalibration and will cost $400 plus to get it done. How can a brand new unit need recalibration so soon with such little use?

I turned in a neighbor once. Would leave his Rottweiler in between garage and fence with 6 foot chain in winter. It was sub zero and when I went outside with my dog I could hear it whimpering. I told them that he would leave it out after they left and really needed to be taken in. No one answered door but knew they were home. Officer took it and left 3 tickets and an estimate for boarding if he wanted dog back. Fines were over $500 and he never got dog back. Luckily they divorced later that year and left area.

It does not always read that, and I have to leave my Sensorcon Pro meter there for at least 20 seconds for a reading. I know I’ve seen everyone say it should be zero. No readings anywhere in the house or at the furnace. Only at a few of the vents. Heat exchanger issue? I have calls into some local folks.
